Try this procedure; it has worked for many people.
Un-sync all your music to remove it from the device, then restart (hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go). Now re-sync your music.

First of all, try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are. Reset the iPod each time you connect it to another port.

iTunes has recently began corrupting my Music and some of the Podcasts. An exclamation mark appears at a random selection of songs - about a thoussanad of them - and they will not play as iTunes says that it cannot locate the file. This also has happened on a number of Podcasts. Any one else encountered this?
This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, if you are running Windows (you've posted in iTunes for Windows, but your sig mentions Mac OS X...), and as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes.

How the heck do I get my music back onto my windows 8 computer from my Ipad or Iphone. All of a sudden all my music (except for purchased songs from Apple) disappeared. When I try to sync I get a message that if I continue all the other songs (~1250) will be removed from my devices and I will be left with the ~50 purchased songs. There is no information on the help list on how to re-create the library using Windows 8.

I recently lost the computer i had my itunes on. I also recently got an iphone. Everything was perfect and set up but then I had to create a new itunes account on my Dell desktop. Anyway, when i created the account and connected my iphone i told me something about my iphone only having what was on my itunes on the computer. I thought that was fine because all of my music is my purchases. But i turns out that a whole chunk of my music wasn't there and my playlists got screwed up. Playlists fine but I went to download the music and every single one of 33 songs says, Cannot download file corrupted, error 10000. Is this a problem with my computer? These files were fine before i connected my iphone to this computer and itunes setup on it. And I have them on my iphone but can't figure out how to move them from recently added to a playlist for running etc. Thank you!so i went ahead and did a restore from the new PC and then a restore from backup. looks like that fixed everything... a few playlists were messed up and so far as i can tell, maybe just a few minor issues.

I've imported 3 cd's to my iTunes, but they continue to be "grey-ed out" with a dotted grey circle in front of them. The music will not sync to my iPhone. How do I get iTunes to recognize them so that they will sync?

In the Gen 4 they offer "Settings" then "Reset Settings" Then it asks, "Do you want to reset your iPod?" I click on "reset" but then nothing resets. :-( This is what makes me think it might be locked or something.... -
I've tried multiple things but I just cannot get the sync to start!
At some stage is is likely to have been connected to another computer's iTunes. It is now linked to that computer's library and iPhones can only be associated to one library at a time. Linking to a different one requires wiping the phone.
If you used the phone with another computer you owned you can transfer the iTunes library from that computer to this one and the phone will still be syncing with the same library it was before.
If all there is on the phone are items which can be backed up to iTunes and purchases which can be transferred you could do that, then wipe the phone and sync them back. -

Default apps are part of the iOS and cannot be deleted. Search all home screens and all folders and/or search for it with Spotlight, that will tell you what folder it's in.
If not found, Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout. -

Normally my phone would connect with my computer and replace all the songs on my phone with all the songs available in my library. Now it seems as if the songs on my phone are permanently there, and nothing from my iTunes library will sync. I tried syncing with another library on another computer and nothing would sync onto my iPhone from that one either. I feel like it's a problem with the phone, not the iTunes, but I'm not sure. Ive been trying things for the last 8 hours. Why won't my music sync to my phone??
1. Open iTunes.
2. Click the View option in the iTunes menu.
3. Select the Show Sidebar option.
Connect your phone, select it in the Sidebar...the various tabs will now show as before. -

My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc. -

Thanks much!When you say "account," do you mean your iTunes library, because your iTunes library is what is on your computer? Your iTunes library does not have an email address. An account that is related to iTunes is your Apple ID (which is an email address) and you use it as your user name to sign in to the iTunes Store, to make purchases. Changing your Apple ID will not make songs disappear from your computer's iTunes library.
If you had an Apple ID and used it to make song purchases from the iTunes Store, and then started using a different Apple ID, you should be able to re-download the songs purchased with the old Apple ID. In iTunes, sign in to the iTunes Store using your OLD Apple ID (and password). That may not be your current email address, but Apple uses it as your user name, so it does not matter.
On the iTunes Store Home screen, click on Purchased under QUICK LINKS. This takes you do the Purchased screen, where you can re-download previous song purchases (for that Apple ID) at no cost.
NOTE: If those song purchases are from more than a few years ago, you may also need to authorize your computer to play (and sync) songs for your old Apple ID.
For songs that were not purchased from the iTunes Store, if they are also gone, you cannot get them back unless you have a backup (or they are still loaded on your old iPod).

Before you sync your iPhone make sure that all the music that was synced to your phonereviously has been copied to your iTunes on the new MacBook Pro. Then when you connect your phone you will be able to either sync all music or select only those playlists that you want on the phone.
