When i use a clipping mask, my photo loses contrast. Any idea why?

I have one photo in a book that is driving me crazy. When I use my clipping mask, the photo inserts perfectly but loses its contrast and grays out terribly. I can't find any reason and it doesn't happen on any other photo using the same time of masks. Anyone have any ideas?

A screen capture of your Photoshop document showing layers palette and the layer in question targeted might be helpful.
