When I use the fade slider on a picture to lower capacity it goes right to checkerboard backround what's wrong and what do I do to fix it

The checkerboard is there to tell you that the background is transparent. That checkerboard will not print.
However you can always add another layer below that image and fill it with a color. If you would like your image to fade towards that color.

When I search a topic gives me pages of links as normal, but when I click on a link, the page is hijacked to a site called 'www.goingonearth.com' ...
I've done a separate search and found that other users are affected, but there doesn't seem to be a clear-cut solution ... (Norton, McAfee and Kaspersky don't seem to be able to detect/fix it).
I'd like to continue using the Firefox/Google combination (nb: the hijack virus also affects IE but not Safari) - do you have a patch/fix that could rectify the vulnerability in your software?

How to get music to play when i uses a slid show as my screen saver

I created a slide show with music it works fine as a slide show. When I choose it to be my screensaver the music does not play. New to mac any help would be much appreciated.

Sara, your screen shot shows that you are placing Black type on a Black background. Double click on the left of your type layer to make it active, and then click in the currently 'black' colour rectangle in the options bar, and make it any other colour. Or, having made the type layer active, you could click on the foreground color at the bottom of the Toolbar, and select another colour.
Or, I see you have your styles panel at the top right of your screen. With the type layer active, try clicking through the various styles.

What system and iPhoto version are you running?
If your're using iPhoto 9 or later Command (right) - click on the photo in the search window and select Show Event in the Contextual menu.
That will take you to the event where the photo is.

The Mac software - iPhoto, iMovie, and iDVD are not the best with the Ken Burns effect (zoom in/out effect), so you might want to minimize that effect; also, if your subjects are wearing stripes for instance, that will have an effect if you zoom. There is better software available for slideshows; however, I do not know of any that is free (and does a good job). Select all the photos that you need to change, then click the "Photos" menu and choose "Adjust Date and Time".
If you add a year, it will adjust all the photos that you selected by adding a year (so if you accidentally select one of the photos that already has "2012", that will change to "2013").

Pictures do not show in body of message using hotmail. They are there when I use IE, but not firefox

In many Hotmail messages, I do not see pictures that are sent in the body of text. Don't have them as attachedments either. The pictures DO appear in same messages when I use Internet Explorer. - This is on my Win7 PC. On my older machine running WixXP the pictures do show up using firefox.

I actually did one other thing I hadn't done yet....I had opened the "Add-ons" section of Firefox, noticed there was an add-on I actually never placed there, called something like "Shopanywhere.com" I believe. Once I disabled it, restarted Firefox, reopened the Add-ons, and then removed it. Restarted Firefox once more, now the ads are gone completely. Did another clean sweep with my 3 awesome adware/virus protection programs and have no more issues. Thanks for the help!
