You can consider a digital input to be high impedance, basically accepting little or no current. This would explain why your current supply doesn't cause a change in the digital state. The signal must reach TTL logic levels in order to trigger a change in the digital state.
TTL logic specifies the low voltage range (0) to be between 0V - 0.8V, and the high voltage range (1) to be between 2V -5V. Anything not in these ranges, for instance 1.5V, will give you an unpredictable result.

my mac is running slow, the spinning beach ball constantly appears. it seems that when i am in the apple store with fast wifi its a bit better. genius at the apple store checked the hard drive, it's all fine. what can it be? can it be a software issue with the wifi?

There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Reset the System Management Controller.
Run Software Update. If there's a firmware update, install it.
If you're booting from an aftermarket SSD, see whether there's a firmware update for it.
If you have a portable computer, check the cycle count of the battery. It may be due for replacement.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane. See whether there's any change.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
If you have a MacBook Pro with dual graphics, disable automatic graphics switching in the Energy Saverpreference pane for better performance at the cost of shorter battery life.
Step 3
When you notice the problem, launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:

Next, select the Disk tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in andWrites out.)
Step 4
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

I usually have 30 tabs opened, and the memory rises in a unexpected way, so that when it reaches 1.2GB, firefox crashes. Also If, for e.g. firefox is consuming 700MB of memory (with a lot of tabs opened), and if i close those tabs and leave just 2 or 3 opened, the memory usage does not drop and remains at the 700MB. I have a fair few plug-ins running, one of the benefits of Firefox.

When doing a "Network Connectivity Test" on my PC, while in iTunes, it tells me that "Secure Link to iTunes Store Failed", yet I'm connected to the internet. I was unable to "authorize" my PC with an error message, as well, giving me the code (-3212), saying I was not connected to the internet, yet I am. I can open browser after browser, and navigate just fine. In going through the iTunes Help menu, I am running the tests offered in the drop-downs, but I keep getting the afore-mentioned errors.
With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:

Use Coax for Local OTA digital channels.
I'm new to FIOS. But I remember Comcast allows basic local OTA channels using the COAX cable even when I was only a Internet Customer. I was wondering if Verizon was the same way? I'm only a Interet customer, no TV service. I basically want to split the coax, one to TV to get local channels and the other to the Router. Is this possible. I'm not at home right now otherwise I would of tried it already.

TIAYes, you can split the coax as needed and you can put the router on any coax tap.
I don't believe FiOS provides any TV channels when you don't subscribe to TV.
The difference is cable sends the same TV channel package to every house with access control managed by the set-tops. Unencrypted channels are available to all as there is no easy way to block them.
FiOS, on the other hand, generates the coax signal in the ONT. It is trivial for Verizon to enable and disable TV service by adjusting the ONT.
If you want local channels and don't want to pay for them you should consider an antenna.

The current set up is that I have my home network both in wired and wireless mode. All MACs are connected wireless through the dual band router (2.4 GHz) and have access to a wireless shared printer. I have also wired connected my TV through the router to access the Internet. I have an Apple TV wireless linked to the router (5 GHz) to play films on the TV
There are a few things I want to do.
I want to store my music and photos on the TC such that I can a) play music on any laptop, via the SONOS system or TV
I want to configure my SONOS bridge to be able to recognise that music is on the TC or pull music via Spotify
I want to be able to play music stored on the TC or display photos stored on the TC on the TV
I want to extend the network of the router without creating a new network
Any suggestions ?If you store itunes andn iphoto library on the TC you could be in trouble. The TC has no auto backup mechanism.. it is simply unable to work as a true NAS. It has no media servers. It is slow.. it is very easy to corrupt libraries especially in connection over wireless. In general we recommend people do not do this.
If you go ahead anyway.. apple have specific instructions for moving the libraries.. do follow it.
I am not sure if the SONOS can play directly from itunes library or has to use an itunes server.. remember the TC is a dumb as a board router with no media servers. Apple TV also need an active itunes to work AFAIK.. you cannot play files.. unless you JB the ATV.
Also be careful as SONOS does not like apple names.. use all SMB compatible names.. short, no spaces pure alphanumeric.
Finally yes,.. at last .. you can extend the wireless in the TC using another apple router.. you cannot extend wireless using any other brand. -
Ihave iphone5c. Does not permanently delete emails showing in inbox. When they are move to Trash then inbox at first shows empty. However if you leave Mailbox and return then all the emails that were previously deleted and now repopulated in Inbox. I have tried various things like marking them "read" before deleting, then moving them to Trash, and they still return. What is going wrong and how do I fix the problem?
What your describing sounds lot like Nortons anti virus, but other do it to.
Multiple copies of the same email over and over are almost always anti virus incoming mail scanning. Turn off scanning and the problem goes away turn it back on and it resumes.
My guess is that your filter issues, and search problems are also related to this uniquitous and most ignored security tool that messes up far more than it should..
Deleting the index
I assume you mean the global-messages-db.sqlite. if you don't close Thunderbird and delete it now. Searches will be incomplete until it rebuilds and the time to do that will have a lot to do with how much mail there is and how busy the computer is.
Now create an exclusion in your anti virus program for the Thunderbird profile folders. My guess is it is trying to scan the files in your profile every time Thunderbird tries to open them and generally turning things into a tug of war, which Thunderbird looses as it just does not wait around if files are locked. It expects exclusive access to it's files immediately, not in 10 minutes when the anti virus has done it's thing. So things get added to the index but not removed. Mails don't move as the destination or source file is "in use" etc. -
I want to embed images such that when we click an image in the pdf, another image appears as popup..
i have a pdf which deals about the description of the product. i want to start with an interface image and a link on the next line say 'Expand'. this link will open the interface image with larger resolution. i cant find a way to embed another image... i am not looking for rollover.. when i click the link, only then the image should appear as a popup...i have Adobe Acrobat Professional... but cnt find any relevant option for this task..
is there any javascript to call out this particular image when the link is clicked.
i just want the image to appear as a pop up and not another file.

As Dave said, you can create a button to show/hide a layer.
You can also have a button that shows/hides another button.
First create a button with the image you want to make appear as its icon, and then hide it (Button properties > General > hidden)
Then create another button that shows/hides the first button when clicked (Button properties > Actions > show/hide a field action)

I am using a basic function generator to create a signal to channels ach0,ach1,& ach2, using resistors as a way to change the signal a bit. I have built a VI to see these three waveforms, but I'd like to be able to use the internal counter of the SCB-68 to measure the pulse width and be able to convert it into a frequency measurement that can be displayed on the front panel. I've looked in the NI 6052E manual, but it is very vauge. Any help would be useful. Thanks

First of all, you need to make sure the three waveforms are TTL leveled, since the counters only support that data type.
After you clear that out, you will need three counter to do frequency measurements on the three waveforms, and the board you have there has only two counter available.
In case you have the thre counters, you can connect the pulse trains on the gate input of the counters, and use one of the two timebases to be the source input. You need to configure the counter to do buffered event counting. Then, the number you catch in the buffer will be the number of pulses that elapsed in between two active edges of your pulse train. Since you will know which time base you chose, you can do a simple math to calculate the total time.

Is CJC accomplished automatically when using MAX to create virtual Thermocouple Channels?
"I have a SCXI 1000 chassis, a SCXI 1102 module and a TC 2095 terminal block. I am configuring virtual channels with the names TC(n) where n is the channel number. When I configure the virtual channel, I am selecting 'built-in' CJC. The question I have is:
When I reference the virtual channel from my DAQ application, is the data I receive already cold-junction-compensated, or do I have to read the CJC voltage as a separate channel, and apply the correction factor manually on my block diagram (like we had to do in the old days)?
I gather that the data that I read, which is obviously scaled to engineering units, is, indeed, cold-junction compensated, but I would like to be certain

You are right in your considerations.
If you select the built in CJC when setting a virtual channel up, the CJC will be automaticaly inserted in the channel reading when using that virtual channel.
