When i use my infocus portable projector, the trackpad on my mid 2013 macbook air completely stops working.

i have the new 2013 macbook air and like i stated above, the trackpad on the macbook completely stops working. i cant use it to navigate which forces me to use a wireless mouse to be able to navigate at all. i was wondering why this happens and if there any soulution. the projector is plugged in through usb and im not sure if that might be the problem ?

I wouldn't expect a projector to affect the trackpad like that. Possibly if you go into System Preferences -> Accessibility -> Mouse & Trackpad and uncheck Ignore trackpad when mouse or wireless trackpad is present.

My MacBook air has stopped displaying images completely on the screen! What do I do?

    Hello, Frank,
Hope you have solved the problem with your macbook air.
I am in the same situation now. Can you please tell me what solution you have found?
    Many thanks,

  • HT1430 For some unknown reason my Apple ID password does not work when trying to down load books from the IBook or Nook Apps.  It also has stop work when trying to down load new Apps.  Any suggestions out their???

For some unknown reason, my Apple ID Password does not work when trying to down load IBooks, Nook books, or new Apps.  Everything else seems to work.  Any suggestions out their???

I appreciate the info and realize that the Nook App is not related to my Apple account but this too has stopped working.  My situation first started with the Nook App not down loading and then has now spread to my IBook and new app downloads.  I have checked into my ITunes account and the ID and password are correct  and at times when I am asked to submit my Apple password such as setting up this Apple Support Community the ID and password work.  My problem seems to be just with trying to use my ID and password when wanting to download new books or apps.  I can go into the IBook, Nook, and App stores and seemingly download an item but when clicking on the new book or app nothing happens and I get a message that states it can not get into the ITunes store and it wants me to either try again or cancel.  This message appears usually ten minutes after I have tried to make a purchase.  At other times when I attempt to download a book or app I lose the screen and the IPad goes into the opening screen.  Short of redoing my Apple account or deleting an app and attempting to reload the app (but this won't work because the App store won't load new apps) I don't have a clue what to do.

  • Mid-2013 Macbook Air: question about the battery life

First of all, I'm sorry if these questions have been already asked, I've looked around and I've seen some answers, but none that fit my specific case.
I have had this computer since December (Macbook Air, 13'', Mid-2013), I've been using it for a month now. At the beginning, I used to use it until my battery was low (between 10 and 20%) and then charge it. Then I learnt that it's better to keep it plugged as much as possible (I have read this in other discussions and on the Apple page). The problem is that my battery is no longer a 100% of its capacity according to Cococnut Battery. It started with 99%, then back to 100%, then 98, 97... and now it varies from 97 to 98 (right now it says that my computer's current capacity is 6948 mAH). I don't know if this is normal, or if this is caused by the use I used to give to my macbook air at the beginning or by any other thing. I also have 19 loadcycles already. Besides, I have noticed that sometimes it jumps form 100% to 99% of battery pretty fast when I don't have it plugged, and I'm not sure if that happened before.
This is my first time dealing with a macbook and I don't know how these things are supposed to work, and I'm worried my battery might have any kind of problem and that's why itdoesn't have full capacity anymore, since I've been using it for only a month.
Also, sometimes it takes a little while to shut down. It usually takes 2 seconds, but sometimes it takes longer, maybe 20 seconds (first the screen turn white, then the loading icon appears and then it finally shuts down). Is this normal too for macbook airs?
    Thanks for the help!

Those are only averages, for purposes of the battery 97 98 99 and 100 are the 'same thing'........theyre all estimates.
Normal on shut down, sometimes you can see a few seconds, sometimes 10, 15 seconds shut down.....depends on what and HOW much its shutting down before poweroff.   Normal.
    ON BATTERY USE:
Keep it plugged in when near a socket so you keep the charging cycles down on your LiPo (lithium polymer) cells / battery, but not plugged in all the time. When not being used for several hours, turn it off.
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html
"Apple does not recommend leaving your portable plugged in all the time."
General rule to remember of Lithium batteries is:
Never drain them LOW  & dont always/often store them HIGH
While cycle count is commonly seen to be the “miles” on your Lithium Ion pack cell in your Macbook, which they are, this distinction is not a fine line at all, and it is a big misconception to “count charge cycles”
*A person who has, for example, 300 charge cycles on their battery and is recharging at say 50-60% remaining of a 100% charge has better battery usage and care than another person who has 300 charge cycles at say 15% remaining on a 100% charge.
DoD (depth of discharge) is far more important on the wear and tear on your Macbook battery than any mere charge cycle count.  *There is no set “mile” or wear from a charge cycle in general OR in specific.    As such, contrary to popular conception, counting cycles is not conclusive whatsoever, rather the amount of deep DoD on an averaged scale of its use and charging conditions.
(as a very rough analogy would be 20,000 hard miles put on a car vs. 80,000 good miles being something similar)
*Contrary to some myths out there, there is protection circuitry in your Macbook and therefore you cannot overcharge it when plugged in and already fully charged
*However if you don’t plan on using it for a few hours, turn it OFF (plugged in or otherwise) ..*You don’t want your Macbook both always plugged in AND in sleep mode       (When portable devices are charging and in the on or sleep position, the current that is drawn through the device is called the parasitic load and will alter the dynamics of charge cycle. Battery manufacturers advise against parasitic loading because it induces mini-cycles.)
Keeping batteries connected to a charger ensures that periodic "top-ups" do very minor but continuous damage to individual cells, hence Apples recommendation above:   “Apple does not recommend leaving your portable plugged in all the time”, …this is because “Li-ion degrades fastest at high state-of-charge”.
This is also the same reason new Apple notebooks are packaged with 50% charges and not 100%.
LiPo (lithium polymer, same as in your Macbook) batteries do not need conditioning. However...
A lot of battery experts call the use of Lithium cells the "80% Rule" ...meaning use 80% of the charge or so, then recharge them for longer overall life.
Never let your Macbook go into shutdown and safe mode from loss of power, you can corrupt files that way, and the batteries do not like it.
The only quantified abuse seen to Lithium cells are instances when often the cells are repeatedly drained very low…. key word being "often"
Contrary to what some might say, Lithium batteries have an "ideal" break in period. First ten cycles or so, don't discharge down past 40% of the battery's capacity. Same way you don’t take a new car out and speed and rev the engine hard first 100 or so miles.
Proper treatment is still important. Just because LiPo batteries don’t need conditioning in general, does NOT mean they dont have an ideal use / recharge environment. Anything can be abused even if it doesn’t need conditioning.
    From Apple on batteries:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1446
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/
    Storing your MacBook
If you are going to store your MacBook away for an extended period of time, keep it in a cool location (room temperature roughly 22° C or about 72° F). Make certain you have at least a 50% charge on the internal battery of your Macbook if you plan on storing it away for a few months; recharge your battery to 50% or so every six months roughly if being stored away. If you live in a humid environment, keep your Macbook stored in its zippered case to prevent infiltration of humidity on the internals of your Macbook which could lead to corrosion.
    Considerations:
Your battery is subject to chemical aging even if not in use. A Lithium battery is aging as soon as its made, regardless.
In a perfect (although impractical) situation, your lithium battery is best idealized swinging back and forth between 20 and 85% SOC (state of charge) roughly.
Further still how you discharge the battery is far more important than how it is either charged or stored short term, and more important long term that cycle counts.
Ultimately counting charge cycles is of little importance.  Abuse in discharging (foremost), charging, and storing the battery and how it affects battery chemistry is important and not the ‘odometer’ reading, or cycle counts on the battery.
Everything boils down to battery chemistry long term, and not an arbitrary number, or cycle count.
Keep your macbook plugged in when near a socket since in the near end of long-term life, this is beneficial to the battery.
    Peace

  • I just purchased the mid 2013 MacBook Air with the 1.7 GHz Processor.

I was making a disk image using disk utility, and it was scolding hot. I checked activity monitor and it was using only about 30-50% of the processor and my fan was ramped up to full RPM...I shutter at the though of using more than 50% of the processor. Is this normal? Did I just have higher expectations of it than i should have? Are you just simply not able to use the Haswell processor like at all? For your info, i was making an image a hard drive partition to move it to another hard drive. It was only connected to one hard drive...Any one experiencing something similar or have any idea if this should be happening?

Maybe so, but when I am using it on the web and doing normal light tasks the temp stays around 95-130 depending on if I'm using plug-ins or not which is exactly what I would expect and have gotten with my other machines. So I don't think it would be wildly inaccurate at the upper end of the temp scale. (Not saying that is not possible, but I would think its unlikely). Thanks though for your input, I guess I will wait untill it breaks or Apple says "oops" and does a REP. It seems to handle a heavy load well now that I have had a chance to play with it more. It still gets like 205, but even using near 100% CPU or playing games it never gets any hotter.

  • TS4611 Guys if you have these build: 12E3200 and your wifi is dropping, is not the your mid 2013 macbook air, is your router, I solve it by setting up my time capsule as a new network problem solved

Here is what I have been doing:
I got my new macbook air 11" two weeks ago, and have been haven problems with wifi connection dropping, I'm using verizon fioz at home, and their router
I also have a time capsule not set up as a network just join it to my current one.
After looking online all these days, I though, maybe is the verizon device that is updated..
I then reset the time capsule, created a new network
connected my system to the time capsule network, and there it is
    DONE, everything works now.
So if you are haven the same problem,, that is the fix
    hope that helps.
Oh  before I did these I try everything, the wifi update from apple don't work it keeps dropping it
I try everything, so don't and delete the system as some people have done, I read somewhere.
try my fix hopes that works.

I have seen lots of issues on Yosemite with Wifi (and have been having issues myself), but yours seem different. It is a pretty new computer, have you tried taking it in under Applecare (if you live somewhere this is convenient)? Maybe you just got a defective wifi card.  I won't defend Apple over this wifi mess, because it really is terrible, but your issue seems not the same as the ones I've read about while researching how to fix mine (unsucessfully....).

  • The sound on my macbook air has stopped working, how do I fix this? :(

It was working fine, suddenly there was a sudden static noise and it just stopped working completely.
i have tried restarting the macbook but nothing seems to work..

try resetting your PRAM. also what do you see on the screen when you change the volume? does it like like it normally does when changing the volume?

  • TS4552 Skype doesn't recognise video on the new mid-2013 macbook air.  Does anyone have a solution yet?

So Apple have known about this since June and they still haven't done anything about it! Has anyone found a solution yet?
Skype will not recognise my video at all.  There's no way I would have bought the computer if Apple had told me this was an issue.  Any help would be much appreciated.

    See this thread:

    FIX:
    1. You need Time Machine
    2. Go to folder /Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL/
    3. Copy AppleCamera.plugin to good place (usb memory stick is the best place).
    4. Go to Time machine in date that skype work fine.
    5. Change AppleCamera.plugin with file from Time Machine
    6. Restart system, Now skype need to work with camera.
    If that doesnt pass,
Suggest looking here, much success has been found:

  • Been using CC2014 since introduced. The day of AdobeMax and "big announcements" CC app stopped working and will not install.

    I am on a Mac Pro, OS X 10.9.5, 16 GB RAM
I have been a fanatical Adobe devotee since 1989, but now I am beginning to see the value in other software packages.
All Adobe design programs (AI, PSD, ID) work, except CC app and Adobe Application Manager.
On the morning Adobe Max occurred, the CC drop down window in the main menu bar was suddenly empty. At first, I could see the black and grey bars at the top, but the only options were Quit and Help. Applications were no longer visible, or Behance. Now I do not even see the icon.
Interesting note — All the while, I am receiving a pop-up window saying my CS6 Application Manager is corrupt (!?!).
I have installed CC and AAM dozens of times. I see no evidence that there is a CC app installed. When I double click AdobeApplicationManager.app, I am required to type in my password, but nothing else happens.
I gave control of my system to an Adobe techie (while he trashed some files and installed CC again), but he told me to log out and back in, but I lost connection with him (after 4 HOURS). Anyway it made no difference.
In System Preferences ---> Users and Groups ---> Login Items (where you can click a box for a program to NOT start at login), Adobe Creative Cloud is in the list with a YELLOW WARNING SIGN meaning it cannot find that program.
BTW, when I try to update programs from within the programs, absolutely nothing happens.
    Any ideas???

Wow, Karan Taneja, you've just embarrassed yourself on a worldwide support forum.  Not only is your post ridiculous and completely inappropriate for a technical support forum, but it also shows your ignorance as to whom you think the audience is.  Apple is not here.  It's users, like you.
If you would have spent half the time actually reading the Terms of Use of this forum that YOU agreed to by signing up to post, as you did composing that usesless, inappropriate post, you (and the rest of us on this forum) would have been much better off.

  • What is apple doing about numb fingers using the trackpad on the new mid 2012 macbook air?

What is apple doing with the trackpads on the mid 2012 MacBook Air, that creates numbness and pain in my fingers.

You have no idea what you are talking about catperson. This topic happens to be on one of the
Apple Support Cummunity conversation. It's called,
Hands go Numb, tingle from trackpad-
Do you even have a 2012 or newer laptop? If not, don't give advise as simple as go see a doctor. Will Apple be paying for my medical bills?
Yesterday is the first time my finger got so painful I could no longer work on my project. I iced it to help numb the numbness, usally the pain subsides when I stay off my laptop for hours however when I start working on it the pain returns and you need your index and middle finger to work that laptop. This is the first time the pain had not gone away, 24 hours later. It feeIs like the tip of my middle finger has a giant splinter in it, very sore! I bought the first edition Macbook Air laptop 4 years ago and never had this problem with my index and middle finger, until I started working on my new Air.
Look at how many people are having the same problem. It can not be a coencidence.  This problem has cost me the use of my finger and the high expense for this new MacBook Air. I'm going to my apple store tomorrow and show them how many people have this problem with numbness. I think this problem goes way beyond giving me a refund for this computer.
Any thoughts after reading other people having the same painful experience?
So What is Apple going to do with the new MacBook Air trackpad that creates numbness in your fingers?
PS: I know the trackpad is made of glass, so I covered my trackpad with a clear cover they sell to put on iphones however that did not slove anything.

  • Improving the 2013 Macbook Air i7 battery life

    Hi
I've checked couple of topics related to this issue seems many people suffer from this problem, i7 8gb ram with 512gb ssd Macbook air has some issues with its battery life it reduced very quickly. I've applied some techniques -like smc reset, deleting launch daemons and agents- and have an improvement in battery performance. Now the point is, when i do the EtreCheck there are many kernel extensions displayed in the report. Is there any way to delete them and slightly improve the battery life?

You can use the new Activity Monitor to determine a unitless "Energy Impact" value:
You can also click the battery icon in your Mac's menu to reveal significant energy hogs (UPS is shown below):
Whereas Apple recently updated their apps to take advantage of Mavericks' energy saving algorithms, few other vendors have. I surmise the prominent "Energy Impact" hall of shame addition to the new Activity Monitor is Apple's subtle way of nudging them into compliance.
Google's plethora of invasive OS X system modifications is a popular reason for excessive battery drain. Google has yet to demonstrate the ability to develop efficient OS X apps, and one can only surmise they are not interested in doing so. If you elect to use Google Chrome or any other poorly implemented OS X programs, you must accept the detrimental effect they will have on performance and battery life.
If you no longer use a Blackberry, uninstall RIM's software. Be sure to follow its uninstallation instructions.

  • I recently purchased a 2013 Macbook Air, when I want to install a new copy, it says I need to sign in with an Id that has purchased mountain lion, help?

    Question says it all

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Did you purchase a second-hand Mac? If so, this is the answer. You need to purchase Mountain Lion by reinstalling the original Mac OS X version that came with your MacBook.
If you didn't purchase a second-hand Mac and you have a Mid 2012 or Mid 2013 MacBook Air, make sure you started up in Recovery HD and that you are using the Apple ID you used to set up your MacBook Air. Another option is to use Internet Recovery (hold Command, Option and R keys while your Mac is starting), because some users said it doesn't require any Apple ID.

  • Faulty logic boards installed in the 2013 MacBook Air?

Just discovered the logic board in my 2013 MacBook Air, only one year old, has to be replaced. Computer will not boot up. Anybody else seeing this problem?

    squillo,
A logic board failure can indeed be frustrating! If the computer is within it's one year warranty or you have Apple Care, Apple will be able to take care of you at no charge! I have a few friends with 2013 MacBook Airs with no issues. Can you be more specific about the model. Most of the time Apple will have two to three release refreshes a year and the hardware is different.
    Thanks,
    Ludeth
