Welcome to the forum.
Your Canon is not an HDV miniDV tape camera, so you cannot Capture.
Instead, Copy the full folder structure from your flash memory cards, to the HDD, and then use Get Media Files & Folders, to Import (somewhat similar to Capture, but with major differences) into a proper HD Project.
You can probably also use the USB cord (but that will be slow), to Copy the files and folders (remember, get the entire folder structure) to your HDD.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • My Program (Premier Elements 13 - which I am using to teach one of my students) keeps crashing

My Program (Premier Elements 13 - which I am using to teach one of my students) keeps crashing every time I try using the Adobe Font that I obtained (Metallophile Sp8 Light) from my Adobe CC Fonts Typekit... please can you help me?

There is a dedicated forum for Premiere Elements:
    Premiere Elements
    You'll get better answers there.

  • Using Text in Premier Elements

I am using a trial version of Premier Elements to see if I want to buy it.  I really want to create slide show with captions and sounds.  Premier seemed like something I should look into, and there are sound affects, etc.  However, I don't see a way to type text as in a caption on a picture.
I may be better served with a slide show presentation but each one is missing something important, which is what led me to Premier Elements.  I don't want to make movies.  I just want to string photos together in a cohesive presentation with text and music or sound affects.
    Thank you,
    Pam Barkas

First, remember that Premiere Elements is a video editor. So it will create slideshows for DVD or BluRay -- but at video resolution (720x480 and 1920x1080 pixels, respectively). So if you're looking for high-quality, high-resolution software for creating slideshows, you might be better off looking into a program like Pro Show Gold.
But if you are trying to create videos with still photos in them, Premiere Elements can certainly do it. And you can certainly add titles or captions to each photo simply by selecting a title template from the Titles & Text panel.
A companion program called the Organizer is also included with Premiere Elements, and it includes a dedicated Slideshow Creator (under its Create menu) which lets you add captions to your slides one photo at a time, arrange your slide order, add transitions and pan & zooms between slides and add narration and music.

  • How to use LightRoom with Premier Elements?

I have recently learned LightRoom 5 and feel fairly comfortable with it. I'm now in the process of working on movie editing starting with Premier Elements 11. I'm just starting to go through it and I see that it integrates with an organizer that seems germaine to the Elements group. Issue is that I'm already using LR for organization. Am consequently a bit confused.
Can anyone suggest how to work with LR and Premier Elements together?
A secondary question has to do with audio file management. I see that the Elements Organizer also includes audio files. But LR doesn't. To date I've managed audio with Windows Media Player. Can anyone offer any suggestions for moving forward with audio management?

I use Lightroom 5.2 and Premier Elements 11 on a fast video optimized i7 PC laptop with lots of memory.  It even has a Blu-Ray burner!
My photo and video files are first copied and stored by camera and date.  Then I use LR to organize and preview, review and select both photos and clips.  IMO, the clip preview ability of LR is very good.  LR will let you make some simple edits to clips but I don't use that for video, only photos.  My photos will be a mix of JPG and RAW and I will tune them with LR.  Some of the photos may get some extra masking or HDR work elsewhere and then brought back into LR.
As I've preview the clips, as well as photos, that I want to use I put them in a LR collection.  Next I prepare a project specific folder on my SSD named something like "Vacation Trip".   If it is a big project, I may make some sub folders such as city names.
The big step is to "Export" copies of all the assets I've selected for the collection.  I open the collection and select everything in it.  Right click, pick Export, set the destination, rename them if desired, select "include video", select "Original" video format, select PSD for images and push the Export button.
The reason for "Original" video is because I don't want any extra compression or processing of the video clips.  I want Premier Elements to do that.  The reason for "PSD" is that I want my LR adjustments of the still photos to be included before I put them in the project.
Next I open a new PrE project.  Before adding any assets, I make sure the the scratch disks are assigned to the project folder.
With the scratch disks set, I then load the assets.  I make sure one of the primary video clips is the first to be placed on the timeline as that adjusts the "Project Settings" if necessary.  Then I start building the video with the security of knowing I'm only working on a set of image and clip copies.
My audio file management is done entirely the old fashioned way in Windows Explorer.  I have an audio assets folder and a system of descriptive folder and file names.  I can preview them from Windows Explorer before I import a copy to a project folder.  Adjustments to volume and clip length are done to he copy in PrE.  I frequently buy a $2 audio clip from Vimeo specific for the project because I like having a license to use the music!
When I'm done, I move the entire project folder somewhere for long term storage.
Hope some of this works for you.  If you have suggestions, I would appreciate hearing them.

  • Rss feed won't validate when I use the itunes:order element?

    Hi
I'm trying to use the <itunes:order> element -
    http://deimos.apple.com/rsrc/doc/iTunesUAdministrationGuide/AddingContent/chapte r12_section3.html
When I run my feed through the W3C rss validator it won't validate. It says - Undefined item element: itunes:order
I also get a recommendation which says - Use of unknown namespace: http://www.itunesu.com/feed
As far as I can tell I'm doing everything correctly. The iTunes and iTunesU namespaces are declared correctly in the root rss element and the itunes:order are where they should be within the <item></item> element.
What am I doing wrong? Any help would be much appreciated.

I have been in touch with someone at Apple and I was advised that I shouldn't worry about this.
It would seem that the feed validator doesn't recognise the iTunes U namespace and some of the iTunes and iTunes U specific feed elements. The use of an unknown namespace gives an adviosry note and <itunes:order> and <itunesu:category> elements will not validate at all. I suspect there may be other elements that I haven't used in our feeds.

  • Quality problems when burning a dvd with Premier Elements 11

I purchased a while ago, but just recently installed Premier Elements 11.  I previously had 9 and 10.  11 was great until I burned to a disc.  The quality is very substandard. Have you come up with a fix for this?  I have read many other complaints about the quality of burning.
Until I can get a fix, I have uninstalled 11 and gone back to version 10.

Thanks for reporting on your results. Much appreciated.
Do you have the opportunity to record 1080p instead of 1080i? If so, we would be interested in the results. But, for now, just some miscellaneous comments.
    1. What are you using to apply the pan and zoom effect?
    Pan and Zoom Tool
Keyframing of the Motion Position property for Pan and Motion Scale property for Zoom
Presets under fx Effect/Presets for pan or zoom.
Are you applying the same pan and zoom effect to each of the photos?
If so (an not using the Pan and Zoom Tool),
Pan and zoom one photo, then copy/paste effects and adjustments for a group selection of the rest.
If using the Pan and Zoom Tool, then consider
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE11: Pan & Zoom Tool, More Than One Photo at a Time
This is acceptable for a few photos, but the increased duration that it will add to the Timeline content may make it prohibitive.

  • Why does closed documents always open up again when I use the program

Why is it that recently opened documents always opens up whenever I reopen the program to access other files?  The previous opened file will always reopen again automatically whenever I access the program to open other files.  This has happened after I upgraged to 10.7 and, so far, occurs in Preview and Pages.  I've not used other applications so I don't know if it happens with those as well, i.e., Numbers, etc.  Any help with debugging this would be appreciated.

    Mate - it's not a bug... it's a feature called Resume.
In essence, if you don't close a window before you quit the program, you will get that window back again when you next open the program.
You can change this behaviour in System Preferences. Click on General and untick "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps".

  • How can I restore the favicons to my bookmark menu? They were lost when I used a program called Cookie.

I like the favicons in the Bookmarks menu. I tried a program called Cookie to block Cookies selectively in FF. But the program broke my favicons in the menu. I uninstalled the program, tried a new download of FF, and deleted a couple of Pref files in my Library. No luck. Tried restoring from backup Bookmarks. No luck. What to do? I know there is an older program called Bookmark Favicon Changer, but it no longer works with FF above 23.
    Thanks,
    Mark

Found the answer. I had to visit every site again to restore the favicons. I won't be using Cookie. I will go back to Cookie Monster, which does not work reliably. But it is better than nothing.

  • Ever since I updated to Firefox 4, when I use certain programs, I get Error 302c3031

When I open or close programs on my desktop, I am getting a box saying Error 302c3031 at address. This only started when I updated to 4. 0.1 What is causing this and how do I eliminate it?

Sorry, that isn't a Firefox error code. I don't recognize that type of error code, was that the complete error code that appeared? You need to figure out which program is generating that error code, and get support from whoever made that program.

  • Corrupted Sound When Using IM Programs

I have a HP Pavilion DV5z-1000.  When I use IM programs (so far I have tried Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo Messenger), they seem to work fine for a while with both sound and video.  However, after a few minutes, the audio becomes "corrupted".  I hear a horrible rushing, static-like sound.  This will stop after a few minutes but then reoccur.  I have a broadband connection, so I don't think the problem comes from a slow connection.  Additionally, the corrupted sound does not sound like the typical broken or distorted sound you get from a slow connection.  Interestingly, the person on the other end can still hear me and does not hear any of this cacophony.
Any idea what may cause this?  I thought it might be Windows Live Messenger but then tried Yahoo and I get the same result.
    Thanks.

Thanks for the link but it doesn't really solve the problem.
I know it works in VLC, my problem is that I absolutely need to be able to use the clip(s) in iMovie HD because I'm filming a documentary and this is one of the most important interviews.
Even if it means finding a way to split the audio in some other program then importing the audio file I'd be ok with that, but I so far I haven't been able to figure it out...any other suggestions?
    Thanks

  • Exporting still images: Premier elements

    hello all,
When exporting frame stills from premier elements they seem to be 'squeezed' when viewed on any other media source or importing back into the program,
any ideas on how to export without this squeezed ratio?

My first guess would be that the Clips on the Timeline are using non-square pixels, i.e. PAR = something like 0.9 for NTSC Standard, and you are viewing in a program that does not accept PAR other than square pixels, i.e. PAR = 1.0.
Now, some programs, such as Photoshop (CS or later) and maybe PSElements (?) can adjust the PAR of an image.
For more detail on PAR in Video (and in Stills from that Video), see this ARTICLE.
    Good luck,

  • Can't download premier elements 11

when I try to download premier elements 11, I get a file trial3.adobe.com and its all garbage. I also got a jojobo company program to  do the downloading. I tried to  get around it but it stays there. If adobe is using some other company's software to do its downloading. It should tell people. i look upon this company as trying to get my personal information. How do I get around this  nonsense. It's very difficult to find a way of downloading a  program that I payed for.

You can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

  • Premier Elements 12, windows 7 64 bit pro

When editing, half way through my program, when DTI is moved when I make a cut, the video on the time line that is visible does not change.
I quiet and started again, and the same happened when I was half way through my program
    [email protected]

I have three cameras. I add three videos to the time line. One on top of
the other. I change cameras after about 40 seconds.
I am not using a switcher and thanks to adobe, I have no need for that.
I have been using Adobe since Premier Elements 9. Normally I have no
problem. Yesterday this started. It is strange.
I will try to burn a disk and see if it comes out right, if not then I
will try another video. Maybe that will make a difference.
I doubt that would make a difference. My you have an opinion???
    Thanks again

  • Why can't I open Premier Elements 11?

    Hello,
I'm working on Windows 7 Ultimate, 64bit edition. I've installed QuickTime and I have a valid serial number, though I've typed it in without dashes, as it does not specify. Edit: I have since reinstalled with dashes. Same deal.
I'm able to install this software just fine, but when I get to the Welcome screen, I click on Editor>New Project, the purple progress bar spins/moves, but then it stops and that's as far as it goes. If I close that window and try to open the program again, nothing at all happens. (I set the default action to open the program) I've tried checking the Adobe log for errors and I could find any EventViewer errors related to the install or the program itself. My account is an Administrative account. What's happening?
When I double click the Premier Elements 11 application in the Program Files folder, nothing at all happens. I've installed, uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Application Manager. All it does is say "Updating Application Manager" with the progress bar and when it's done, nothing happens. In fact, nothing at all seems to have changed.
I've found some apparently missing .dll's with Dependency Walker. I can provide more details on that if requested.
If I need any more details, let me know! Thanks!
