When I zoom in on photo using iPhoto, how can I save the zoomed in photo please? I would like a screen shot of my zoomed in photo - is this possible?. Cropping doesn't give the same effect as zooming in and magnifying the photo. Any help would be appreciated thank you. I have an iMac

To take a screenshot of the zoomed photo, press either the key combination
⇧⌘3 for a screenshot of the full screen, or
⇧⌘4 to bring up a selection rectangle: select the section of the screen, that you want to save.
The screenshots will be sent to your desktop; drag them from there to the iPhoto icon in the Dock to import them.

IPhoto corrupts the view of my Nikon D800 photos when zooming or switching to edit mode

I am viewing RAW files from a Nikon D800. Initially the files show correctly but after a while the views starts corrupting when I zoom in and sometimes when I enter the edit mode. The files themselves are ok, it is just the preview that corrupts.
Once this has happened the only way to restore normality is to reboot the iMac. Closing and reopening iPhoto does not fix it.
I am using iPhoto 9.5.1 on OSX 10.9.4 (iMac 21.5-inch, Mid 2010).
I have a Nikon D7000 as well and editing these photos I have no problems. Perhaps it is the larger file size...?

That could be an issue with the graphics card.
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
If it is, switch to another user account and repeat the test there.

Why are my photos on iPhoto all zoomed in to a face and I can't see the entire photo?

It says the photos are all 240x240.

Then you have imported the face thumbnails - did you recently move to a new machine and import your old library? Hint - NEVER import one iPhtoo library into another one - it does not work and creates a massive mess
If you did import yoru old library then drag the bad library to the desktop and Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc) or use an external hard drive formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.
once you have a good working library trash the bac one on the desktop

Initially I could find no cause. Then I tried right click - Edit and on the affected images, always get this warning:
"Image Cannot Be Edited - This photo was previously edited with another application or with an early version of Iphoto. Duplicate this photo to edit it." and a "Duplicate To Edit" Button is displayed.
The external Editor defined for iPhoto is Adobe Photoshop Elements.
Now, I reckon the MUST be others out there affected by this same apparent Preview bug, yet my searches have not revealed any answers. Also seems impossible to find a contact number for adobe???

I have photos in iphoto that can only be view in minimum zoom but, when I zoom out pics can not be view when clicked on

When i open iphoto and the zoom is near the minimum, I can see all the photos, but when I move it towards the maximum range, the pictures disappear. If I click on them I only see a blank, black screen.
Someone help???

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

How can I make a picture fit entirely in the photo box in a book. The picture size is small, but the it only shows part of the picture, and the zoom is all the way down.

I am trying to make a Photo Book using IPhoto for my granddaughter's wedding. I am using 6 pictures per page, as I have many pictures to add to book.
The picture size is small. But when I zoom is all the way down to the end to make smaller. Doesn't go far enough. When I try to put a picture in the square spot, it cuts off part of the picture. Has anyone else had this problem, and could help me out. I really would like to put on each page even more pictures, but that is not an option with IPhoto. I have used other sites to make books. This is my first try with IPhoto. I may have to revert to the old familiar ones. Wanted to give this one a try. My granddaughter leaves for Germany on the 21st to join her marine husband. I am quickly running out of time. (The wedding was this past Saturday)

HT204379 Why does my screen saver "zoom" in on photos from my iPhoto? Can I stop it from doing this?

I've recently moved up to Mtn Lion on a new MacBook Pro.
I finally figure out how to connect my iPhoto images with my screen saver (the way I alswyas did on previous Macs).
But the weird thing is that the Screen Saver zooms in on the photos! Sometime choosing a very uninteresting part of the photo to suddenly enlarge on my screen!
What gives with that? Can I stop it from doing this? It's like cropping my originals - many of which I have already cropped ...

The only fix here is to find a third-party screen saver that supports the behavior you want. Apple has adjusted its screen saver options over the years, and the latest ones are what you see in the system preferences.
The only way to change these behaviors is to hack the screen savers. The effects descriptions and some of the behaviors have settings in this folder:
/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Slideshows.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Cont ent
There may be a way to modify one of those settings to prevent the zooming for the given set of screen savers (or at least one of them), but I would not recommend modifying these files arbitrarily as you might break something (or at least make sure you have a full and restorable backup you can access before doing so). There are a couple of known modifications to them that can adjust some behaviors, but image zooming isnt one I know of.

Command (right) - click on the photo and select Fit to Frame in the contextual menu:
Not all frames in a theme offer that feature but most do. The spread layout doesn't.

Testing iMac in store I checked iPhoto editing. Photo said to be 42Mb but zooming caused immediate pixellation, so clearly was not displaying a 42Mb file. When I zoom in PS on PC a large file retains detail for a lot of zooming. Whats going on?

While testing a MacBook pro in the Apple Store, I checked iPhoto. Looking at what was said to be 42Mb file I noticed that zooming caused immediate pixellation, so clearly a 42Mb RAW file was not what I was looking at. In my PS Elements on my PC when I zoom, the photo remains unpixellated until quite a lot of zoom is used (marked as 100%). This depends on the file size of the photo of course. Maybe the displayed photo in iPhoto is a low res. jpeg. This is not too good for me. I wanted to see how the base model of MacBook would handle photos esp large files and I need to zoom in. Will the base model cope with this in PSE for Mac?

iPhoto will happily zoom to 300%. The quality at that magnification will depend on the quality of the image. But if it's a sharp image - of any size - it will zoom to 300% with no problems.
PSE for Mac has nothing to do with iPhoto. I have used it with no problems, but for best information why not ask over at the Adobe forums?

Keep the zoom level the same when scrolling through photos

To decide which is the best photo that i’ve got, i usually compares the details by zooming and switching through photos back and forth, but keep the zoom level the same..
The problem is, in iPhoto 11 i can’t do this..
Because everytime i scroll to another photo, it always zoomed out by itself..
Does anybody know how to retain the zoom level when scrolling through images?

How hare you zooming? When I double click on a photo to bring up its full sized image and use the keyboards arrow keys to scroll thu the size stays the same? Is that how you're doing it?
Have you tried using the Full Screen mode?

I have iphoto 9 (version 8.1.2). When I opened up iphoto it said that I had 0 pictures (it had over a 1,000) prior. My screen saver was and has been set to a foler in iphoto and still displays the photos. How do I retrieve my pictures?

When opening Iphoto (Iphoto 9 version 8.1.2) I went from hundreds of photos to 0. I looked in my harddrive and could not locate the pictures under library or photos. I tried rebuilding the system (ctl. alt. and opeing the program). I would assume all my pictures are lost except for when my screen saver runs, I still see all of my old photos. How can I retrieve my photos?

go in to finder than photos they should be somwhere in there. after you find them select add to iphoto

Additionally, I'd like to be able to take the 2000+ photos out of iPhoto and put them on a disk in a folder. I have managed to export them to the hard disk but it's just plonked all 2000+ photos in a list - not ideal if I want to use it for anything else. And then I have to manually delete the photos from iPhoto. Is there not a quick and easy way of dealing with this?

I too would like to be able to do this. Just put them where i want the. IFTT a scripting app will put the images in dropbox for you , but its been pretty iffy.
