When importing iPhoto doesn't create events

When importing picutres to iphoto it used to create events, now it all goes into pictures and no events are created automatically nor do I have I option of create event manually. Please help

Right click on any photo in Photos and select 'Show Event' and you'll be brought to the Event containing the pic.
Events and Photos re both views of the same Library - think of them as different windows to the same room.
So if a photo is in Photos, then it's in Events too.
Usual reason for this is that the Event is not where you expect it to be - because you've a different sort or a the date is incorrect.

  • MobileMe Galleries orphaned when importing Iphoto library into Aperture 3

Can anyone advise how I can get my existing MobileMe galleries to be listed into A3. They were uploaded via Iphoto and I imported that library into A3 but the MM galleries are not there. Obviously I have filled in the appropriate boxes etc in preferences.

    1) Log in to MobileMe via the web at www.me.com.
    2) Click on the PHOTOS icon along the top toolbar.
    3) Click the "Gear" button and select the option for "New Album".
    4) Give the album title a dummy name like "Aperture Link Dummy" and under the "Syncs with:" selection, choose "Aperture".
    5) Once this new album is created, you can now click on each individual MobileMe gallery that you wish to sync with Aperture and the "Lightswitch" button for "Album Settings" will now have the option to "Sync with: Aperture" as well.
    6) After making the necessary Album Settings changes for those that you wish to sync with MobileMe, return to your Aperture program and go to PREFERENCES --> WEB.
    7) Under the option "Check for new published photos:", select one of the options OTHER than "Automatically" and the "Check Now" button next to it should become clickable.
    8) Click "Check Now" and you should immediately see Aperture add a "MOBILEME GALLERY" heading under the Library pane and will begin to import your MobileMe galleries.
This is about as far I've gotten with getting my existing MobileMe galleries into Aperture. Unfortunately, now the problem is that they are no longer linked to their respective albums/events. When in iPhoto, if I made edits to the album/events, the MobileMe gallery would automatically be updated with those changes. I assume this behavior is the same for new galleries created from within Aperture, but it does not seem to affect those galleries that were imported from iPhoto. Let me know if you get anywhere with this issue.

  • IPhoto suddenly stopped creating events, any ideas?

No new events are being created when new photos are added.  Any suggestions?

Hi, the photos just go into 'Photos', and if they are routed through iCloud, they also show up there.
My version of iPhoto is 9.5.1 (902.17)
I have Mavericks loaded, might that have some bearing on the matter?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Aperture 3 crashes when importing iPhoto Library

    Hello,
I'm trying the Aperture 3 30 day trial. I installed it and am trying to import my iPhoto library (with the option of leaving the files where they are). It starts and I see my events come in, but then it crashes. This happens every time I try it.

The very same, aperature just hangs from both the iphoto library and even from a folder with all the pictures in. Have tried waiting for ages but no joy. £169.00 for a program that just wraps and fails to do even the basic import function. Apple sort it.

  • Best Performance when importing iphoto lib in to App 3

Will I see a performance difference if I keep my iphoto library in place vs. importing all the photos into the Aperture 3 Library?
I assume there will be some difference because A3 is a 64bit program.
But what I'm really wondering is will there be a NOTICEABLE difference in terms of scanning through photos and editing photos etc?
I've got a three year old Mac Book Pro.
    Bob

It will make no difference where the Masters are stored.
When you import an iPhoto Library here's what happens:
Aperture notes the locations of the actual files (or moves them and notes it, if you prefer)
Aperture reads the iPhoto Library for data and metadata about the files
All of this is stored in the Aperture database.
There is no further reference to iPhoto from then on. So when you're viewing photos, searching and so on you're searching the Aperture database.
Where the files are stored has no performance issue unless they are stored remotely on a slow disk with a slow interface.
If the files are still on the same disk then there will be no appreciable difference to the performance.

  • Using iPhoto, can I create events inside another event!?!? Is there a way??

I would like to create an event inside another one that already exists, is there a way to do that?
I want to create something like:
An album called "Euro Trip" and inside this album other albuns called "Madrid, Barcelona, etc"
By choosing "Divide events", they don't stay in the same "folder".
    Can anyone help me?

Post this query on the iPhoto forum.  There are people who are oriented to iPhoto issues.
I don't think you can do it.  The only suggestion I can think of is to start a new iPhoto Library for 'Euro Trip'.
    Ciao.

  • Upgraded to OS6 on iPad and now iPhoto doesn't show "Events". What's the deal?

iPad 2 iPhoto always showed Events but since upgrading to iOS 6, "Events" are gone. What is the fix?

Puchased iPhoto app for iPad and none of my photos except for camera roll that's on iCloud came up.  Tried to sync all my photos on MacBook to iPad, that didn't work. "Photos" app still has all my photos but nothing under events which brings me back to the original problem. Time to go to the Genius Bar.

  • Emailing from iPhoto doesn't create new message

I'm trying to email some photos from iPhoto using Apple Mail. I select my photos tell it what size to send, photo count is correct. Click on Compose and I see a progress bar...preparing photos for email. it says it processed the correct # of photos but I don't get the new message dialog box.
Could this be because I'm using gmail imap?

    Rayne
Could this be because I'm using gmail imap?
Unlikely, as the service you use has no impact on creating the message, only on sending it.
    try the troubleshooting basics:
    1. Repair Permissions using Disk Utility
    2. Delete the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the home / library / preferences folder. You'll need to reset your User options afterwards.
    3. Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.

  • QT import let iMovie hang on create event

    Hi all !
While exploring iMovie I wanted to import a quicktime movie file around approx 5 minutes. When iMovie gives the messagebox creating event for that mov it says less than a minute, but nothing happens. After a while the spinning wheel of death displays...
Tried several times with the same result (had to force quit every time and delete the event folder in ordeer to use iMovie again) Anybody else experienced this?
    Thanks for your time!

Well I have a work around.
Lucky for me iLife'08 didn't delete iMovie HD. So, I import my Quartz Composer movie into iMovie HD, then I save it as a mpeg4 movie and this I can import in iMovie.
Guess that Apple still has a lot of work to do with iMovie!

  • Insufficient disk space on Aperture Library volume to import iphoto library

3 Importing iphoto library to Aperture questions:
    (1) Finally switching to Aperture because too many photos to manage in iphoto. When importing iphoto library it gives me the message: Insufficient DIsk Space - "There is not enough free space on your Aperture Library volume to import the selected items. It is estimated that you need an additional 83GB of free space."
The photos are all on an external drive which has 150GB free space. I also tried moving the aperture library to another hard drive which has lots of free space. I want the Aperture library to reside on the external drive so I can share it between my laptop and desktop.
I tried this at the apple store and it was going to work. I came home and it now says it needs 125GB free space. Is this a function of which computer you use to import the library? What can I do because I can't spend hours at the apple store if it may take that long to import all the photos from the library.
    (2) Is there an optimum way to import a large library, rather than all at once?
(3)Used iphoto manager to create a project library from an iphoto library. Now have 2 good libraries to import, one with about 35k photos, the other with about 8k. The 8k will have some duplicates from the larger one. When I import that one I don't want to import duplicates, but do want to retain the organization and labeling of those duplicates in terms of which albums and events they are in. Is that possible?
    Thanks!

Or use Aperture's built-in and suggested way to deal with the problem of a Library outgrowing your system drive: make many of your Image's Originals referenced rather than managed.
Aperture lets you store any Image's Original on any locally-mounted drive.  Moving your Image's Originals from inside your Library (in which case they are "managed") to outside the Library (in which case they are "referenced") is easy -- as it moving them back.
The two main complications that arise from using Referenced Originals are:
    - you must back up your Referenced Originals in addition to backing up your Library.  Backing up your Library _does not_ back up your Referenced Originals
    - you must not make any changes to your Referenced Originals with any program other than Aperture.  _Do not_ use Finder to move, rename, etc.

  • I am getting an error ORA-39143 when importing a dump file

I get ORA-39143: dump file "c:\oraload\expdat.dmp" may be an original export dump file
when importing a dump file created by 9.2 exp into 10.2 database using impdp
I need to use the impdp utility with the table_exists_action option which doesn't appear to exist in imp
What is the proper mix of versions/flags/options to export from a 9.2 database and import into an existing 10.2 database while replacing existing data?
    thanks

well its on the link i provided
"When tables are manually created before data is imported, the CREATE TABLE statement in the export dump file will fail because the table already exists. To avoid this failure and continue loading data into the table, set the import parameter IGNORE=y. Otherwise, no data will be loaded into the table because of the table creation error."
original import tries to append (insert)
there is no parameter here like table_exists_action=truncate/replace
    1. drop all the tables (dynamic sql), so there will be no errors because of already existent tables
    or
    2. truncate all the tables (dynamic sql) + use IGNORE=Y
    (or
    3. drop the whole schema in target database, recreate it, then do the import)

  • Importing my video from my event library into my project library, it shows the full width of the clip, but on the viewing section, it's zoomed in and cut the sides of the video off.  How do I stop this from happening?

When importing my video from the event library to the project library, it's zooming in and
narrowing the width of my footage.  How do I stop this from happening?

In the project, double-click on the clip to open the Clip Inspector. In the Clip tab you will see an item about two thirds down labelled "Stabilization". If checked, uncheck the box "Smooth clip motion".
Stabilizing clips causes a zoomed in effect, with the extent of the zoom dependent upon how shaky the footage is. There is a slider beneath the check-box labelled "Maximum Zoom" - this can be draggged back and forth to adjust the zoom effect if desired, once the clip has been stabilized.
You may have chosen to analyze clips for stabilization when importing to iMovie (that's a choice provided by iMovie upon import). If so, it's best to turn off an option in iMovie's preferences. Go to this from the iMovie menu item iMovie>Preferences. Click on the Browser tab and deselect (uncheck) the box labelled "Automatically stabilize clips that have been analyzed".
I prefer to import clips without analyzing, as this speeds up the import process. Afterwards, in the Event you can check for any overly shaky clips, then analyze them in the Inspector. If necessary, once dropped into a Project, you can stabilize them as desired. You can also stabilize clips directly in the Project without having to first analyze them in the Event.

  • Build doesn't create WSP package.

    Hi,
Any ideas what to check when VS2012 build doesn't create WSP package? No errors received while building. Publish works normally.
99% sure that at some point simply building a solution created WSP package to output folder.

    Hi,
By design, if you build the SharePoint project, it  just generate
.dll and .pdb file in the output folder.
In Visual Studio 2010 there is a special option "Package"  in context menu of program project to generate
    .wsp file.
Nowadays, there is no such in Visual Studio 2012, but we can use Publish
    instead.
Here is another solution that we can create a Solution Package for a single SharePoint 2013 project.

  • How do I stop iphoto from creating events automatically when I import photos from an external hard drive?

IPhoto is creating events automatically when I import photos and when I merge events and then go to finder>all images, I see iphoto has created several copies of each picture....I try to delete the extra copies but then the albums or events also get affected, even if there is one copy of each photo left in all images...have someone had this problem?

You don't have a problem at all.
IPhoto is creating events automatically when I import photos
This is how iPhoto works. Every photo is in an Event. Events are the basic organisation of the Library. Every import means at least one new Event. Yes you can merge Events after import and so on, but there is at least one Event created at each import.
I see iphoto has created several copies of each picture....
No it hasn't. It hs created versions of the photos, not copies. There will be a couple of thumbnails  for viewing in the iPhoto Window plus the Master and then a edited version for pics that are modified. The icons for each of these may be similar but they are not copies - for a start they are different sizes - and all are required for iPhoto to work.
    go to finder>all images
Don't. This is simply a list of all the images on your computer. It makes no account or allowance for the purpose of these images. Really, if you're using iPhoto ignore this because if you
I try to delete the extra copies
Then you are trashing your Library.
So, this is how iPhoto works, there is no problem and stay away from All Images.
