When installing the new OS Lion, do you need to reinstall the programs currently on your Macbook Pro such as Photoshop and Lightroom?

It depends how you do it. If you do the auto update - i.e. you download Lion and let Mac OS do everything for you, then the answer is 'No'. It will try to install all apps that are compatible with Lion.

I'm in the same position, the store said they didn't know of any new release, so i bought my macbook pro to find out about mountain lion. I really hope that i'm not going to pay for the upgrade. I just installed the new mountain lion software on my iMac. I was currently running Snow Leopard. My problem is with my mouse. Now when I scroll down the page it moves in the opposite direction. I checked system S.P. - Natural for scroll feature.

I think this new scrolling behaviour was introduced with Lion. You do get used to it pretty quickly (well I did). Are you sure that deselecting Natural Scrolling in Mouse Prefs doesn't re-instate the previous behaviour, it does here.

I get the Message "Unable to find nigpib.inf You need to reinstall the NI-488.2 driver software" before the Getting Started Wizard starts. I cannot find this file on the NI provided CD labeled NI-488.2 for windows version 2.2. Help.

First, what GPIB hardware (part number and serial number) are you trying to install, and what is the operating system?
Next, please go to Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) Help to generate reports from the System Information and Support Section. Please post the operating system and NI Software info.
Also, please describe the state of your machine before the NI-488.2 installation, and how you progressed through it before reaching the error. For instance, I installed LabVIEW 7.1 and all the default settings of the Device Driver CD, and then installed .... The MAX report and this will help determine how the system got into its state. If you got any errors during the process of installation, please describe in as much detail as you can.

My ipod when i cut it on shows the ITunes icon and the usb plug icon on my ipod screen. so I plugged it into my computer and when it took me to the Itunes menu it says I needed to reinstall the proram to the manufactures settings and upgrade.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

Why do you need to re-install? Try to fix the problem.
I would assume a 10.2 full install would be fairly cheap on ebay.

you should deactivate (help>deactivate) that installation on the old workstation. then download and install on your new work station using your serial number. (ie, make sure you can find your serial number - if you need help with this, let us know.)

Does anyone else think that the AppleMac group of products are marketed in a greedy way? I have MacBook Pro 10.5.8 and am now told that I have to upgrade to Snow Leopard to sync my new iPad. Of course there isn't enough memory on the MacBook? I'm angry!

Does anyone else think that the AppleMac group of products are marketed in a greedy way? I have MacBook Pro 10.5.8 with Leopard and am now told that I have to upgrade to Snow Leopard so that my system can download the relevant iTunes upgrade to sync my new iPad and get my audiobooks (which don't appear anywhere on the device right now). Of course there isn't enough memory on the MacBook and Snow Leopard costs more also? I don't have financial resources to pay for all the new memory requirement and related upgrades they say I need just to sync my iPad with my purchases.

Thanks for the reply but I already knew this. $20 for Snow Leopard which asks for 5gb free memory. I can only see that I have 4 gb (which I feel is rather a pathetic amount of available memory for any computer). To upgrade this computer's memory will cost another fee (I haven't researched this yet but gather it's more than $20). Then of course I could also be told that the OSX Mackbook Pro that I have can't be memory upgraded - which means I'm being told to buy a new computer - hence my very frustrated last email. Ok... the only reason why i want to uprade my software is because of StarCraft 2. For those that don't know, Heart of the Swarm is coming out this March. I've been eagerly waiting for this expansion. I just read that SC2 HOTS will not be able to support any software below lion. Before attempting any Major Upgrade... get yourself an External Hard Drive... and create a Bootable Clone Backup of your current Hard Drive...
By far the easiest way to make such a Backup, is to use something like
SuperDuper http://www.shirt-pocket.com/
or CCC http://www.bombich.com/
That way, should anything untoward happen during the Upgrade,
you will NOT LOSE ANYTHING.
(Get an EHD that is at least equal to your current Drive...)

My MacBook Pro will not boot. When I inserted the OSx installation DVD, there is no hard drive to select. I can't eject the DVD either. Do I need to reinstall the operating system? Please help!

I forgot to mention that there is a grey screen on startup also a flashing folder with a question mark. I have tried the solutions offered on these forum pages. I cannot get past the disk utility screen.

The MBP cannot find the OSX, and either the HDD or connector has failed. If you can get the installation DVD to work, start the installation process and when the menu bar appears on the display, select 'Utilities'. From the drop down menu, select Disk Utility>First Aid and run 'Verify' and 'Repair'. If unsuccessful, a new HDD is in your future.
If you cannot get the DVD to function, then a trip to an Apple store is your best option.

Nope, you can install it on your new computer with no issues. The disc contains both the 32 and 64 bit versions.
