When is a display too big? (30inch)

Not scientific for sure, but I am looking for some opinions
I am looking to get a 30inch along with a new Mac Pro (currently running the 23inch - and I feel longing for more real estate quite often).
I am wondering if, as you sit fairly close, people actually think 30inch is overkill for most applications.
Moreso I am a little concerned by the added cycles the Graphics Card has to perform - obviously since the native resolution is much higher than the 1920x1200 of the 23inch, can the Graphics Card cut it? World of Warcraft for example - will it slow down to a crawl as the Card is keeping up with fill rate for the 30inch res? How about Motion, and Final Cut Studio in general?
Card I am getting is the 1900XT, but still.

I suppose there are other concerns beside the size, monetary, visual, etc. ACD is far from being a perfect screen for any precise colour manipulation but it's the only one at this size we have for now and most likely in the future. LG is the only company I know that makes the 30" panels which are used in both Dell and Apple 30" displays.
For example BenQ is supposed to release a 30" end of the year or beginning of the next but there's no indication who makes the panel so I'll assume LG.
Of course quality also depends on the driving electronics installed and I would bet that Apple beats Dell there for sure.
With all this in mind perhaps I can offer an alternative (if you have the funds that is). NEC is supposed to release a 26" screen (NEC LCD2690) mid-October that will have 93% of the Adobe Gamut. They will use an A-TW-IPS panel.
Drawback is the cost of $1,750 for it but I guess it should be worth it for all those who have strict colour requirements.

NB305 first time setup display too big for screen

I just bought an NB305-310 netbook (two, actually, and the first one had no trouble). It came loaded with Windows XP. When I turned it on I wasn't able to set it up right away, when I came back to it, I found the display of the welcome screens and the setup process assistant is too big for the screen, as if it thinks it has to fill a 15" or 17" screen instead of 10". So I can't see to click on the "I agree" box or the "Next" button etc., so can't proceed through the setup.
I already tried restarting it a couple times (by holding down the power key, since Control-Alt-Delete didn't do anything). I also tried using the function key with various keys that looked like they might affect display size but no change. Even the volume function keys didn't change the volume of the setup background music that plays.
How can I fix this?

Try this. Press Alt + Spacebar to open the control menu (which may be off the screen) at the top-left of a window.
Then press M (for Move).
That will enable you to move the window using the arrow keys.
When you get the chance, you'll want to go here and reset the screen resolution to 1024 x 600.
Control Panel > Display > Settings tab > Screen resolution slider

MacBook Pro Retina - Images in PS look great, but when uploaded to web too big and distorted

Part of the reason I hated using my Mac for graphic and web design is that when I create images in adobe photoshop everything looks amazing. However, when I upload them to the web, they are way too big and look distorted, this includes text.
I'm trying to make a text logo with a transparent background. When I create it in photoshop the size I want it looks fine and clear, but once it's uploaded to the web it looks way too big and the font is blurred. How can I fix this? I use the Adobe Cloud, so I have the latest version.

Display too big!

Display prob: Suddenly the display (menus, etc.) is magnified so much I can't see the whole screen, too big to be able to scroll side to side, can't un-zoom. Assume I'm doing something to make it happen. Any ideas to prevent? or to fix short of powering off? Thx!

Thank you! Didn't know about the 3-finger trick! Now that I know, I'm leaving Zoom on in Settings-Accessibility. (Couldn't get to that in menu while it was so big.)

Why are my iPhone only apps displaying too big on my iPad in ios7

I have a number of iPhone only apps and previously I could x2 to use them on my iPad. In ios7 that option is no longer available and the contents of the apps appear too big and I have to school from side to side to read the details. One example is G-Toolkit

+1 on that. my problem app is the AT&T mobile app.

Display too big for the monitor

Suddenly it seems as though I have a dispaly for the visually impared. As if the monitor that would be needed to see the whole dipaly at once would be 32' instead of the 17" available. As a result, I can only see a small portion of the window at any one time. Is this a bug? or did something get turned on that I can turn back off? Please help!!
Ps. This started just after my son watched a dvd on my computer.

But, for "millions of dollars" I think I could arrange a trip to California. I haven't been there in about 15 years. So, I'd enjoy the change of scenery.
My wife will actually be down there in October. So, you could always give it to her. Just make her promise not to spend it all before she comes back home

Apple TV Display too big on HDTV

I am using my Apple TV to access the Netflix App. When Netfix mounts, I select a genre and that screen will mount.. I receive two rows of movie selections. If you can visualize this screen, the first movie selection on the left and the last movie selection on the right only barely appear (only half the title appears. Moving left or right will not display the whole movie selection. In addition to that, when the a movie is selected , the title of the movie should appear below the selected movie. On the bottom roll, the title of the movie is barely visible. The Apple HOME Screen also shows half App Icons

IPhoto 6 photos in slideshow are displayed too big.

I'm using iPhoto 6. The slideshow displays the photos much bigger than in the photo editor (normal size). I want to have them displayed at normal size in slideshow and then adjust them with the size slider. How do I do that? Thanks!

Ok. after first panicking and not reading further on how to fix iphoto, i calmed down and did the reading i should have done first. Seems that holding down the option and command key at iphoto boot-up initiates a rebuild command.
I did a complete rebuild and all the photos are back in order. Not sure why this occurred but I'm happy that it was fixable.

Display too big for screen

I caught my 3 year old playing with my macbook pro this morning. He changed something that I cannot fix. I cannot see the entire screen, even if I have the resolution at the highest setting. How can I change this back to I can see the entire screen without moving the cursor to the edges to see the rest of the screen?

Desktop display too big to read. Help!

My friend has a G5. Her baby played with the keyboard and touched some keys and now her desktop image is huge, she can see only one word in the whole desktop. What happend? how does she fix that?

Press the Command, Option, and - keys to make the screen smaller, and repeat as necessary. This happens because the zoom in feature has been activated.

Q10 display too big after 10.3 update

My Q10 was recently updated to 10.3.1 and since then the screen has expanded so I have to pinch it to get it back to normal size, Any solutions to this irritaing problem? It also means I can't swipte across until I have pinched the screen.

JTable is display too small, after a pack() it's too height

i have a table of 5 columns and 2 rows
it is placed on a scrollpane and then in an internal frame
the result is a table that is displayed too small (height=32 == getPreferredSize().height)
if i add a pack() statement then it is displayed too big, width is ok but height =~ 500 (should be approx. 100

A document page opens that is too big for the display and runs off the end of the monitor

How do you fix a problem where document pages open that are too big for the display and runs off the end of the monitor? The borders are off the monitor so there is no window edge to grab and adjust.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Display is too big

When I came in the plug on my monitor was loose and the screen was getting no power. I got the plug to power the monitor, but now the display is larger than before. Whereas a website used to fit on the screen, now it is too big and I have to scroll over to read the whole page and get the tool bar. Zoom was not activated and is set at the lowest level. How can I get the computer to go back to its compact display?

I am having a similar problem all of a sudden....
(My daughter played a game & she must have changed my settings somehow because everything on my computer is now huge! I really have no clue how to reset it, either....)
