When is Adobe Suit for Linux comming?

Rumors are that Microsoft is working on a native Office for Linux (link: http://techreport.com/news/24333/rumor-microsoft-mulls-native-office-for-linux ) . When is Adobe lunching a Suit for Linux?
Disclaimer : ) I paid for my copy of Design Suit, I will be happy to pay for those programs for Linux as they are the only reason I need Windows. There are stable, standardized APIs Linuxes out there (RedHat, for example), further more from what I can say, Linux (Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Fedora - no experience with other versions) is more stable than Windows...

This subject comes up about once per year, and the answer has always been "not yet, and probably never," but that is, of course, subject to change. So far, no changes.

    The reason your applications do not work in Lion/Mountain Lion is that they were written for the older PowerPC CPU that all Macs used up to 2006.  When Apple made its transition to the Intel CPU, they licensed software that they included in all versions of OS X (from Tiger to Leopard and optionally, Snow Leopard) called Rosetta.
    Rosetta miraculously allows PowerPC applications to work on the Intel processor transparently; you do not know it is even present.
    The problem is that after 6 years of the transition, Apple's license to use the underlying software expired for OS X Lion and all version thereafter (and it is doubtful that the current owner of the software, IBM, would relicense it, even if Apple were inclined to do so).
    So you do not have to accept recriminations from others for previously using Rosetta without even knowing it was present and running!
    So for those of use that need to upgrade to Lion/Mountain Lion, I have offered the option to install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels 7:

    And now Mountain Lion:
    If you are unable or unwilling to update your inventory of PowerPC software, this solution offers you an alternative for not more than the $29 cost of Snow Leopard and $79 cost of Parallels (cheaper via internet sources).
    Full Snow Leopard installation instructions into Parallels 7 are here:

  • When will Adobe Reader for Mobile Devices support 3D PDF files?

    When will Adobe Reader for Mobile Devices support 3D PDF files?

    There are two basic varieties of LiveCycle XFA...Static XFA and Dynamic XFA, which are very different in terms of their future for potential support in Adobe Reader for iOS. Which variety of XFA are you using?
    Static XFA uses the PDF markup language for content and form fields, so users can view the documents in Adobe Reader for iOS, but we currently do not properly handle filling, saving, and submitting those forms. I have improving our handling of Static XFA on my roadmap, but cannot offer any specific date yet (sorry, policy plus actual uncertainty). I know that there are some other apps that partially support Static XFA, though I do not know how complete their support is. If you can even open the XFA document in Adobe Reader for iOS, it is likely Static XFA.
    Dynamic XFA is effectively a JavaScript application packaged inside a PDF wrapper, which generates layout and form fields via code and requires a significant engine to support this. Support for Dynamic XFA is unfortunately not currently on our roadmap for iOS due to the nature of the technology, and our concern that any implementation we try likely will not pass Apple's restriction against installing something that allows other "apps" to be downloaded and executed from within it. The LiveCycle team is exploring solutions for our enterprise customers wanting to use Dynamic XFA from mobile devices as part of their server offering, but I cannot offer any insight here. To my knowledge, there are no applications that handle Dynamic XFA other than Adobe Reader for the desktop platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux).

  • When will Adobe Reader for iOS support Livecycle XFA forms?

    Adobe Reader for iOS currently does not appear to support XFA forms created through Livecycle. Although it supports some field types, the HTTP submit and Email submit buttons don't work.
    Being able to email the completed form ready for someone else to submit would be a work around, however when attempting to 'share' a completed form and send it by email the form is blank when saved and opened in the desktop version of Adobe Reader on a PC.
    We are getting more and more requests from ipad users who wish to use our forms, and it seems that some other paid-for apps claim to support this. Seeing as Adobe Reader is the industry standard product for using PDFs could we have more support for pdf forms please?
    ...or at the very least, a product roadmap with some dates for when this might be available please?

  • SOA Suite for Linux 64 bit

    I had been using a Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3) Media Pack for Linux x86 (32-bit). We are now moving to a 64-bit Linux. I cannot find a Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3) Media Pack for Linux x86 for 64-bit Linux. Is it supported on 64 bit.
    Also, can an Oracle Enterprise Linux be used instead of RHEL ?
    Cheers,
    Arun Ramesh

    I thought most X64 architectures can support 32 bit apps. Even if the SOA Suite runs in 64 Bit, the JVM will alone be running in 32 Bit. So there should not any compatibility problems.
    Is that right?

  • Adobe Reader for Linux 64bits

    We would be greatly interested in a amd64 version for Debian and I coud'ant find Adobe Reader for download.
    May I dream with this package?
    Nós utilizamos Debian 64bits (amd64) em nossas estações e gostaríamos de poder contar com o Adobe Reader.
    Podemos aguardar a liberação deste pacote, ou a Adobe não pretende produzir uma versão para estes S.O. ?

    Hello Sousa,
    64-bit native version of Acroread is currently not available (see point 6 in the FAQs page http://blogs.adobe.com/acroread/2007/09/adobe_reader_811_faqs.html). We will let the user community know if in case there's such a plan in the future.
    Thanks for your query.

  • [request] Protector Suite for Linux - UPEK fingerprint scanners

    Would anyone be willing to work on a PKGBUILD for this. I will do testing.

    Contains installation packages for following distributions:
    Mandriva 2009.1
    Mandriva 2008.1
    Ubuntu 9.04
    Fedora Core 10
    Debian

    Hey! I go to see if anybody has mentioned this on the forums yet and find this. This is what I've come up with, but I have no idea if it works because apparently it is 32bit only, and I can't find anything else to find depends/etc through so it needs a lot of work. (not to mention that this is only my second PKGBUILD).
    pkgname=ps-for-linux
    pkgver=0.1
    pkgrel=1
    pkgdesc="UPEK fingerprint reader software"
    arch=('i686')
    url="http://www.upek.com/"
    license=('unknown')
    depends=()
    makedepends=('deb2targz')
    source=($pkgname-$pkgver.deb)
    noextract=($pkgname-$pkgver.deb)
    md5sums=('69809f555752b95c0a448e04c6ede3e9')
    build() {
    cd "$srcdir"
    deb2targz "$pkgname-$pkgver.deb"
    tar xf "$pkgname-$pkgver.tar.gz"
    package() {
    cd "$srcdir"
    cp -r etc/ lib/ usr/ "$pkgdir"
    # vim:set ts=2 sw=2 et:
    I hope that will be a starting point for you to make a pkg out of and then run something like namcap on to see where things need to be added. Also, I don't know if one of the other rpm's would be a better fit for Arch's directory structure, or if this should be put in /opt or something.
    Have you requested a source package fro them yet?

  • Adobe CC For Linux NEEDS to happen.

    Surely there's a way we can make them notice how much profit is available if they introduce CC for Linux?
    Is there simply NO way of getting the Adobe software on Linux?

    Seems like there is no market for it at the moment. Linux adoption rate is a fraction compared to operating systems such as Windows and Mac.
    This question was posted on adobe forums roughly 2 years ago, I would say Adobe has no plans to roll out compatibility for Linux anytime in the near future.

  • Does the Adobe suit for Mac also work on windows computers?

    I am looking to buy the creative suit for my mac, but i just want to make sure it also works on windows. All it says on the box is CSS

    Yes. CSS will work on both OS X and Windows. But you must have the correct version for each.
    So if you are going to run CSS on both a Mac and a PC, you are going to have to purchase two copies, one for the Mac and one for the PC.

  • Support Adobe products for Linux

    https://www.change.org/petitions/adobe-make-adobe-products-on-linux
    If you want to get Adobe products ported on Linux, sign this petition.

    I am an avid supporter of Linux. Adobe appears to have zero real interest. I have a feeling the company is regularly paid to keep their software tied to Windows and Mac. The petition you created is a waste of time unless you convince a large audience (advertise). A lot of Linux users believe Adobe will never port their software. Even if you did manage to have a million people sign it, I do not think it would make one bit of difference. The chances of us seeing a full-fledged alternative are much greater. Sorry to sound like a pessimist. It is simply reality.
