When is anything other than a minimal wpa_supplicant.conf required?

I'm a little confused about wpa_supplicant.conf.
I seem able to connect to virtually all wpa protected networks with a very minimal entry in wpa_supplicant.conf, as below:

psk=1405f3dde16fsfsdfsfsfsjhgjgjgkgjkgkjghkjghkjghkjgkj
But many of the guides I've seen, including the Arch wiki, suggest adding a load more detail to this basic configuration, such as 'proto', 'Key_mgmt', 'pairwise' and 'group'.
I suppose my question is why bother with this extra detail when I can generally connect fine without it? Is it there for my later reference, or does it enable some more advanced features of wpa_supplicant?
I understand, of course, that some networks have more complicated authentication procedures, involving multiple stages and stuff like MSCHAPv2 etc, and that these require greater complexity, but is there anything to be gained by filling in the details for networks I'm already connecting to quite happily now?

Yes, sure, actually having it connect reliably is what's most important. It's just that every wpa_supplicant guide I've read makes it sound like all those extra details are pretty mandatory.
I don't even have a 'ctrl_interface' defined in my conf file, yet it seems to work just fine. Is that right? I'm just concerned as to whether I'm missing out on some features by running it so minimally.

My 1 year old -- ha! one month out of warranty -- iPhone 4 has been having a nearly identical problem over the past few days.
It started by dying completely so I had the battery replaced, thinking it was simply battery issue.
It then worked again for a moment but started doing exactly what you describe, going through a reset cycle (longer than 30 seconds but who's counting). And it felt quite warm.
Did hard reset, plugged into wall charger and MBP USB but the new battery wouldn't even get a full charge (a whopping 92% after nearly two days). It would even lose battery when plugged in if I opened an app. And all the while plugged in, if I left the phone on, it would cycle through these resets. So I turned it off to try to charge it.
Now suddenly, it's dead again. Totally black, and hard reset does nothing. Up until two days ago there was nothing wrong whatsoever with this phone! And I hadn't even installed a new app that could be the root of the issue. No idea whatsoever what caused this.
Any help would be much appreciated!!

Refresh event problem, when using anything other than on-load

I am attempting to create a series of sequential xml loads, without any user interaction.
I.E. xml1 contains the location of xml2, and xml2 contains the location of xml3, so the next must wait until the prior xml has been loaded.
It is impractical to use dropdown lists or refresh buttons to update these - (they should all happen behind the scenes as they are just loading selections that change depending on the user privileges).
While my desired refresh-event is the when-value-becomes, I have tested when-value-changes, and found the same problem.
When I set these to automatically chain through (xml1 is set to refresh-on-load, xml2 is set to load by a trigger cell that equals "load" if there are values loaded from xml1, and so on) - the conditional refresh events do not fire.
When I use a manual refresh button, they load without a problem, and when I use a dropdown list to test the on-change or value-equals logic, this loads correctly too. So the problem is specifically during the intial load-up point, and is reproducable in any new xcelsius project I create.
To state the problem precisely, during the initial loading phase of xcelsius, the logic behind when-value-changes and when-value-equals load events does not seem to execute - however after the initial load, they fire correctly based off user input.
Is there any workaround or solution? If any clarification is needed, let me know where.

May not be your exact issue, but something similar -
Only a problem w/SP3 - I used dynamic visibility to hide two connection refresh buttons that were loading data after components finished. They stopped working until I turned the dynamic visibility off and just hid them behind other layers. Confirmed by revealing them after load and the triggers ran appropriately. May not be the issue (since you didn't mention visibility), but worth a try.

When syncing with itunes, got error message saying had error and now ipad2 will not do anything other than showing the USB cable with arrow pointing to Itunes on screen. have done the reset and restart, but still get same thing.

I had done all of that to no avail. I did call Apple Tech Support and after he suggested I try a USB port in the rear of the Win 7 computer, things starting working again. I had tried switching the USB port at the front of the machine but that had not helped. Everything is good to go again. thanks for your reply

APEX 4.2.2 - ORA-6502 when logging in to application with anything other than Firefox!

If I try to log into my application through anything other than Firefox I get the following message on the screen:
Error
Error processing request.
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error
OK
If I try to access the APEX Builder through a browser other than Firefox, I get no HTML returned.
Last night I upgraded from 4.1 to 4.2.2 and ran the patch that dealt with missing developer toolbars...
Of course, I only ever use Firefox, but my users are using IE...
Any ideas?

Anything other than buttons on ALV Grid toolbar?

Does anyone know if anything other than buttons can be placed on a ALV Grid toolbar, eg. a piece of text or an input field? The filter button for data selection may be too cumbersome/slow for a call centre operator; I want to have a display field with a dropdown identifying a data field and an input field to accept a value on which to select.

may be you can do some thing like this..instead of having a input field on the toolbar. have an input field above the ALV grid(this is applicable only when you are using Object Oriented ALV).

you can have a button along with input field also. enter the value in it, and press enter . in the enter handling fetch all the data. and display in the ALV grid.
in the screen fiest create input field, and button, then place the custom control. on the custom control you place the grid.

System won't let me configure to anything other than stereo

my pavilion dv7-7020us no longer allows me configure the sound as 4.1 or anything other than stereo. this problem started within the last couple of days tho i'm not sure exactly when as i mostly use headphones. i've reinstalled all of the system drivers and ofc the audio drivers and it made no difference. i'd rather like to get my sound working the way it's supposedta again.

Page layout appears incorrect in anything other than IE 10...?

I have created a very simple microsite in Dreamweaver CS6 (my web design knowledge is very basic hence the ‘very simple microsite’!).
My site appears and work well in Internet Explorer (10) although when viewed in previous versions Firefox or Chrome the pages appear on the right hand side of the screen rather than centralised as it should.
I initially used one of the default fixed layout templates in Dreamweaver in which I have used tables on some pages but not on others?
Another strange thing is that I have a simple navigation bar at the top of the pages which consist of three rollover buttons ‘Next, Home and Back’ in that order. However when viewed in anything other than IE 10 the 'Next' and 'Back' buttons have been reversed???
I thought it would be quicker to ask for some advice rather than try and work out the problem, so any suggestions will be very much appreciated!

You'll need an HDMI cable to hook it to your TV. Once you have that, you just have to plug in the Apple TV power and then plug it into the television using the HDMI cable.
EDIT:
If you don't have wireless you'll also need an ethernet cable to hook the Apple TV up to your router so you can stream content from the internet.

apart from PC software, you can also synchronize with GMail Contacts, Google Calendar, Yahoo!Mail and probably some other like facebook contacts, facebook events.

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.

then to store
tap your id then click sign out
then sign back in and you should be fine
