When is Draft folder Sent mail and when is it STUCK mail?

i am having problems with outgoing mail and adding to this i am having problems figuring out what has in fact been sent!
obviously if i have mail in a SENT folder it has presumably been sent and arrived.
however, if i have mail in a DRAFT folder does this mean it specifically has not been sent? i mean, i oftentimes find /partial/ drafts in my DRAFT folder and i am wondering if i need to look at the draft email to see if it is completed or partially (god only knows how reliable this will be) with the assumption that if it is PARTIALLY COMPLETED there may in fact be a completed version of it in the SENT folder? alternatively, do i have to somehow search the SENT folder to see if the email is there to see that it is not in fact stuck in the draft folder?
i just ran into FOUR emails that do not appear to have been sent to the person that i was sending to but since i think i hit SEND on all of them i cannot 1. figure out why they were in the DRAFT FOLDER but more importantly i 2. CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHICH MAIL IN THE DRAFT FOLDER IS BASICALLY stuck in the OUTBOX. and since there does not appear to be an outbox in Mail on my macs (as there is in Mail on my iPhone or in Sparrow on my iPhone iu basically have to ask a byzantine question like this to figure out an absolutely mission critical issue as to whether important business mail is basically stuck in mail on my mac and WHY i don't know about this and cannot figure it out either.
bueller, bueller, bueller....

I know there is an issue in Mavericks Mail with messages being saved to Drafts that were actually sent, but am not sure if this also affects Mountain Lion Mail.
What is happening as you compose your message, Mail is saving the current version in Drafts. It's supposed to remove the Draft message after sending but in Mavericks Mail this is currently not working as expected. The workaround is to save your Drafts for IMAP accounts to the "On My Mac" Drafts Folder.
If you put Mail in offline mode then try to send you should see your Outbox.
Personally, I know I often start a message then before I complete I get a call and forget about the message only to find it later in the day hiding behind my Mail window.
You can eliminate Mail by testing in Postbox and MailMate. Both have demos.
http://www.postbox-inc.com/  $9.95
http://freron.com  $49.99
Setup in MailMate is super easy since it imports your account info from Mail. MailMate supports IMAP only.
Postbox has a nice interface and includes features like adding DropBox links in a message.

Snow Leopard breaks quite a few drivers - my Canon exhibited the same problem.
I eventually found updated drivers on the Canon website. You can try that with the HP, but if the all-in-one is more than a year or so old, don't hold your breath.
You can also try Software Update to see if it will offer new drivers, or failing that go to the Support Downloads site and search for HP updates.
In fact there's a new one for HP at the top of the list just now.
You may not necessarily want the latest one, though - check the specs to see if your model is covered; if not, search for the previous update etc.

  • Cannot delete messages from the Drafts folder in Mail.

I am running Mail 2.1.3. For some reason I am no longer able to delete draft messages from my Drafts folder. It is by no means a serious problem, just annoying! Can anyone figure this out? Thanks.

Hi Dubaiman, and a warm welcome to the forums!
I'm having trouble finding exactly where that is stored, but maybe move these to the Desktop in case we want to put them back, quit Mail first...

  • Lumia 800 configure which folder sent mail should ...

    Hi.
I have configured an IMAP account on my phone. When I send a mail from that account a copy of the mail is saved in a folder called "skickat" (sent). But I would like the mail to be saved in the folder under inbox called sent.
    Is this possible to do?
    /Sebbe

This feature is not implemented, yet. At least, I have not found a solution yet either. By the way, this is somthing Microsoft has to add, Therefore, it is a good idea to vote for it!

  • HT2488 How do I create an iCal Alarm to delay send an e-mail in my Drafts folder of Mail?

I've learned how to use iCal Alarm to schedule sending an e-mail.  However, all of the instructions I read say that I have to type the e-mail inside the automator's "New Mail Message". Is there a way to type the message in Mail, save it in drafts, and then create an iCal Alarm to schedule sending it?
I got as far as "Get Specified Mail Items" --> "Display Mail Messages".  This sequence displayed a message in Drafts.  What next to get it to send that message it displayed?  I tried adding "Send Outgoing Message" to the sequence with no success.  And I tried adding "New Mail Message" --> "Send Outgoing Message" to the sequence with no success.
Sometimes there will be several e-mails I want to delay send (some that I started earlier in the day, saved in Drafts and finished up in the wee hours of the morning) and it seems a waste to have to create a new iCal Alarm for each.
    Thank you!

  • Draft Folder and Gmail using multiple Apple Mail 4.0 Clients

I use Apple Mail to manage my Gmail account. I have one set up in my home office, and another I use on a MacBook when traveling or away from the office. I like to start messages and save them as drafts to come back to and finish when I am able. It would be great to be able to have drafts appear in both clients. Gmail settings say not to check save draft on server box, but instead to save drafts to the Gmail/drafts folder. I cannot find a way in Mail to set this up. Any ideas on how to save to a specific folder?

Set up your gmail in your mail.app as IMAP.
On gmail web site, open the "Labs" and enable the 2Advanced IMAP Controls". Then, select the tab "Labels" and set a tick at "Drafts - Show in IMAP". Now, when you open mail.app, it should appear as a mailbox in the mail application. You may have to map it to the draft folder in mail.app if it is not set already.
For that, you choose "Mailbox" in the menubar and choose "Use This Mailbox for" and select "Drafts". Now, it should be unified with the native draft folder of mail.app.

  • Email sent from ActiveSync Device Goes to Drafts Folder

Issue: Sending an email from an activesync device (Android using native email app or iPhone) moves the sent item to the drafts folder in Outlook without actually sending the email.
Scenario: Outlook is open on the individuals workstation and they are not in cache mode.  Individual sends an email from the activesync device and the email is in the drafts folder in Outlook and message is not sent.
Placing user into cache mode resolves this issue.
Having Outlook closed resolves this issue as well.
    Environment: Exchange 2010, Outlook 2007
The research I have completed on the internet points to CRM but I have verified there is no Outlook add-in for CRM installed.
    Has anyone else seen this?

Has anyone else seen this? I have one user that is on Exchange 2010 and is using an iPhone and iPad and
was experiencing this issue. We were able to resolve it by exporting his mailbox, deleting it and recreating. It was working for about a week and now the problem has reoccurred. Anyone know if there is a permanent fix for this? We haven't gotten anywhere with
    Microsoft.
Note: When this problem is occurring, the same issue happens in Outlook Web Access. Sending a message from
OWA also sends the item into the DRAFTS folder and the mail is never sent.
We do not use MS CRM btw.

  • Sent messages are ending up in my drafts folder for no reason

I have been experiencing this problem for quite some time now. Messages that I have sent out, even ones that have never been set to draft status, are ending up in my Drafts folder.
Mail moves over a handful at a time. I am not really sure why this is happening. Has this happened to anyone else?

It was recommended in another thread that you uncheck the "Store draft messages on server" option (it's in the Mailbox Behaviors pane of the Accounts preference in Mail). I have the same problem and have just tried that change, though it's too soon to know if that's fixed it. My suspicion is that if the IMAP server is sluggish, the draft email is being saved but not cleared quickly enough and so it appears in the Drafts folder.
    Hope this helps.

  • Mail Sent from MacBook Air Doesn't Show Up in 'Sent' Folder in Mail in iPho

Mail sent from the MacBook Air does not show up in the iPhone 'Sent' Mail folder. Incoming mail shows up in both devices' inboxes. Is this normal?

You need to set the mailbox behavior:
    Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendar -> .Mac/.Me -> Account Info -> Advanced
At "Mailbox Behaviors" you can choose if the "Drafts Mailbox", "Sent Mailbox", and "Deleted Mailbox" uses a mailbox "On My iPhone" or "On the Server".
Before you change the settings, move the mails in Mail.app from the Sent mailbox on your iPhone to a (temporarily created) folder on the MobileMe server. Then change the settings and move the mails from the previous step to the Sent mailbox on MobileMe. Now they all should be visible on your iPhone.

  • Sent mail does not appear in sent mail folder

Hi. Odd problem. I have done a search for this but can't find an answer.
I have an IMAP account with PIPEX and mail will not display the sent messages.
Mail has 3 folders - Inbox, Sent, Trash.
IMAP account has 2 folders - INBOX and a sub folder sent-mail.
    Inbox/INBOX syncs fine.
Nothing appears at all in Sent.
Sent messages sync ok, as (using finder) they appear in my library at myusername/library/mail/IMAP-(mylogin)/INBOX/sent-mail.imapmbox/Messages
For info, the inbox messages are stored at myusername/library/mail/IMAP-(mylogin)/INBOX.imapmbox/Messages.
For info again I have store sent messages on server selected in preferences (because I need to see them from another computer)
I have tried 'rebuild' several times on the inbox & the rebuild option is greyed out on the sent folder.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Stringbag

    Hi Stringbag.
This account requires INBOX to be put in Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > IMAP Path Prefix for Mail to handle it properly. Mailboxes on the server should not appear as subfolders of the account’s Inbox in Mail.
After having done that, Mail should be able to properly save sent messages on the server, but maybe in a mailbox different from where you want them to be stored. To fix that, select the desired folder in Mail, and do Mailbox > Use This Mailbox For > Sent.

  • Mutt/Offlineimap Sent mail is showing up in Gmail Inbox

    Hi,
I am just starting my journey with mutt and quite like the interface thus far but I am having trouble with sent emails showing up in my Gmail inbox.  It is a little annoying to always have my sent emails appear as unread in my inbox.  In my search for a solution I have found that this behavior sometimes occurs if you have Gmail filters that are set to never send to spam, I checked and do not have any such filters.  This could also happen if I had $record set, but I have specifically unset record.  My muttrc and offlineimaprc are as follows (I used several tutorial sites to help create these) (I have hashed out some personal details):

I use msmtp to send the emails (and they do send) but as far as I know that program should have nothing to do with my folder labeling.
What happens exactly:  When in mutt, I press 'm' and compose an email and send with 'y'.  Oddly enough, the email appears in my gmail inbox (the webmail) even before I sync mutt with offlineimap (I don't automatically sync).  Once I sync, I see the email in both my sent mail and inbox.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated

  • Messages in Drafts Folder gone missing

    Hi folks,
I'm having an annoying problem with mail at the moment. I had 6 or 7 messages saved in the drafts folder of Mail.app, just now I went to do some work on one of the drafts and discovered that it is not in the drafts folder, along with another missing draft, leaving me with only 5 drafts.
I have done a search in Mail.app of all the folders using appropriate keywords, did the same with spotlight to search for it but it has totally disappeared. I have tried searching the forums here and on Google and the only clue was to rebuild the mailbox, but when i tried to do this the "Rebuild Mailbox" option was greyed-out so I couldn't do it.
This is on 10.4.4 with Mail.app version 2.0.5
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

If you open the Mail folder, in the Finder (Home/Library/Mail/the subject account's POP folder) and find the Drafts.mbox folder within the POP account folder for this account, what are the files within? In the folder within, named Messages how many messages (.emlx) files are shown?
    More info, please.

  • One messege is stuck in the draft folder

I sent and email the other day and it got to where it needed to go to. The problem is that there is a copy of it stuck in the draft folder. Mail has never done this before, it only did this to this particular messege. I have sent other messeges since with no problem. If I trash the prefs for Mail, what will I have to reset if anything? Will this solve it?
    thanks

Strange if these messages are re-appearing after deleting the Drafts mailbox for the associated account.
While composing a message, the message is temporarily saved in account's Drafts mailbox for the selected account to be used for sending the message.
If you have multiple accounts in Mail and you deleted the Drafts.mbox folder within the appropriate account named folder, the re-appearing messages must be coming from the account's Sent mailbox.
How many messages are available in this account's Sent mailbox and how often do you use the Rebuild Mailbox function on the Inbox and Sent mailbox for all accounts?

My 'draft' folder has disappeared. I composed an email message and clicked on 'save in drafts' and nothing happens. I have been using it for a long time and don't know why it disappeared. I closed the email after I clicked and the email disappeared and did not go to a draft folder. Mail is 3.6

I figured it out myself, by clicking the plus button and typing the word 'drafts' and the folder reappeaered!
