When is N73 firmware update due

I called Vodafone (UK) to ask what I can do with my 8 week old N73 that repeatedly dies on me - whilst idle, on a call, or writing a txt. They said they were aware of issues in the firmware but that they didnt know when these would be fixed. *#0000# = V 2.0628.0.0.1 10-07-2006 RM-133 Nokia M73 (39.01) Is there a planned release date for the update? How will it be available? Are there any automatic notification methods? Many thanks

This is a user to user site appearantly... So no Nokia people here (atleast, don't count on it).
There is a minor firmware update available (from .0.0.1 to .0.0.3) but I don't think that will solve your problems.
Nobody knows when the next big firmware is, although we all think it's near. There is a AsianPacific (APAC) version of a 3.x.x.x. firmware but noone knows anything about it. We're all waiting for it
Updating can be done at a Nokia Service Centre or, when the N73 is added, through the Nokia Software Updater which you can get on their site. This updater already lists a number of other models (N70, N80, N93 and more) but unfortunately no N73. The only way to know about a new firmware is checking the threads on this forum and others I'm afraid.
Btw, you don't happen to have 3d ringtones on (and especially not in combination with 'say callers name' option) since those seem to cause MANY problems.
I'm on the same firmware as you but no problems here, not those anyway. Hope to help

  • How to know when a software/firmware update is out?

This is my 1st iPhone and was wondering when a software/firmware update is available do you get it through the iPhone itself or do you have to connect it to iTunes to get it?

When you connect your phone to iTunes, you will be notified of an available update. You may also see posts here or elsewhere announcing an update (after the fact).

  • N73 Firmware Update & Restore of Phonebook/Message...

    Hey all,
I recently updated my N73 Firmware to 3.0704.1.0.1. As you know when upgrading it wipes the phone. When I restarted I restored my last backup from Nokias PC Suite to get names/numbers/messages transfered over again to the phone. Unfortunatly in doing this it seems to have removed some of the new firmware features (clock with 'am/pm' screensaver etc.). Do any of you know how to get this back? I've had a look in settings but can't see anything.
    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

I've understood it's quite normal that the update prosedure may seem to stop even for some minutes and then go on again. The connection between the phone and computer will also break and then reconnect couple of times...
Are you sure, you did wait long enough before unplugging your phone (at least some minutes)?
But if your phone has the new firmware now and everything is working fine so I hope there is no problem!

  • WAP4410N wireless traffic locks up even when running latest firmware update

I maintain multiple buildings, and each building has anywhere between 1 and 4 Cisco/Linksys WAP4410N access points. The problem is that at random intervals, the access points just stop sending and receiving wireless traffic. Every day or two, I have to log into every single access point (either via HTTPS or SSH) and reboot them in order for them to start working again.
In short, here are the config details:
    They are all version 2 hardware (either WAP4410N-A V02 or WAP4410N-E V02).
They are running IPv4 (IPv6 is disabled) and get static IP addresses via DHCP.
When there are WAPs with overlapping signals, each WAP is on a different non-overlapping channel (1, 6, or 11).
Each WAP has two SSIDs (with spaces in their names). One is secured with WPA2. The other is unsecured.
There are two VLANs on the Ethernet interface. Each of the two SSIDs are assigned to a separate VLAN.
There is a DHCP server on the network, so the WAPs do not actually assign IP addresses to clients.
All of the WAPs are running on PoE switches. However, some are gigabit and some are 10/100 switches. Brands vary (Dell and Linksys) and models vary.
Cisco finally recognized this issue as:
CSCtx62203—In certain environments and traffic model, the WAP4410N may lockup after some undetermined time. Workaround: Reboot the device.
As such, the workaround didn’t really offer anything new. Rebooting every WAP ends up being a very time consuming process. It’s awful. And since you have no control over when this issue surfaces and can’t put any safeguards in place, I get calls about it at various points of the day almost every day.
Supposedly the most recent firmware update (2.0.6.1) claimed to fix the issue, but it only seemed to make it worse. So now instead of a WAP locking up every day or two, it locks up anywhere between every 15 minutes to 4 hours when in use.
The firmware was updated and the following issue was fixed in firmware version  2.0.6.1: CSCtx62203—In certain environments and traffic model, the WAP4410N may lockup after some undetermined time. (A protection mechanism was added to guard against sporadic problems with client association that could occur after six to 24 hours.)
As for troubleshooting, there are no error packets. On access points running firmware 2.0.6.1, these messages appear:

Feb  8 09:55:29 syslog:  Found beacon stuck, down and up the VAP interface.
These log messages appear on both WAP4410N-A V02 and WAP4410N-E V02 devices.
I noticed that when the “beacon stuck” message appears, wireless traffic locked up 10-15 minutes prior to the message’s appearance in the log, and the SSID drops for 4-6 minutes after the message appears.
Is there anything that can be done to address the issue?

    1) LAN port speed doesn't appear to have any effect
    2) Forcing a connection type doesn't seem to have any effect. This is also rather impractical.
    3) I don't have that option (though there is a TKIP/AES mixed option). Either way, I'd rather not have to resort to using a weaker encryption method.
    4) No effect.
I did manage to find some information about the error message (older versions of firmware didn't even offer that clue).
    http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Advanced_wireless_settings#Beacon_Interval
I ended up increasing the beacon interval from 100ms to 500ms under Wireless > Advanced Settings.
The wifi analyzer app on android seems to keep dropping the SSID when the beacon interval is set that high, so I might have to adjust it to find a good balance.
However, while it was set to 500ms, none of the access points went down for two days.
[edit]: I reduced the beacon interval incrementally down to 300ms. It started locking up at 250ms.

  • N73 firmware update failed but still working?

Few days ago I saw new firmware for N73 is out. Downloaded program, stared to update firmware.
After cca. 90% of progress bar I heard same sound you hear every time you plug in/out your phone over USB cable. My heart almost stopped since I heard stories you must not unplug phone during firmware update, that it will not work after that. Suprisingly software offered me to repeat update process!
I clicked OK and it started all over again.
Once again after reaching about 90% progress bar instalation stopped with same un plugg sound. This time there was no repeat update offer. I tryed everything but update din't work.
I plugged USB out of comp and phone and tryed to turn on phone. I wasn't able to turn in on! Then I took out battery, put it back in and turned on phone.
All worked, menu was in english, but I had option to change it back to croatian again. Installed old programs and they all worked. Voice dialing working, camera working... all working.
    What the hell happened?
Why installation stopped on 90% and my phone is working without problems on NEW firmware? Bug in Nokia Firmware update software?

I've understood it's quite normal that the update prosedure may seem to stop even for some minutes and then go on again. The connection between the phone and computer will also break and then reconnect couple of times...

  • When will the firmware update for the Note 4 be released to support the Gear VR?

I will need to look at purchasing on another device on another carrier depending on timing.    (Cross checking the Oculus and Samsung dev boards as well)

Note 4 update just showed up for my phone a few minutes ago.  Installing now. They really need to communicate these things with the support agents so they can communicate better with us.  We need information to make decisions.  I can say right away, a Verizon device will never be my lead platform for development for this reason alone. Especially when the script for response leads to a link to a page that has nothing to do with phones, much less firmware update information.  This is, in fact, the NJ5 update, so it should work, I will verify for the support techs and the community when I get back to the lab. (I eat lunch sometimes, contrary to popular belief.)  Thanks for whoever prioritized this internally.
Apparently it was JUST released. http://www.droid-life.com/2014/12/10/verizon-galaxy-note-4-update-vru1anj5/

  • Nokia E65 firmware update due in October

    Hi all,
we just received a message from the Eseries team. They informed us that "Nokia will release a firmware update for the E65 in October for most E65 variants."
There's been plenty of discussion here among E65 owners so I hope this helps. We do not have any information about any possible changes that this update will bring but I am sure many of the discussions about the E65 here at Support Discussions have been a valuable source of information to Nokia.

At the moment Nokia does not publish change logs nor schedules for any product-specific updates.
E65 was an exception since there seemed to be so much concern over whether it will be supported by NSU at all (as it's not yet listed at www.europe.nokia.com/softwareupdate).

I went to check software availability and there's (no surprise) STILL no update for my phone. Come on it's almost half a year now. Everybody else is running on version 3.XX and im still stuck on version 2. This is ridiculous.
At the VERY LEAST some Nokia rep could tell me that they're working on the firmware and that it WILL come out EVENTUALLY. To put my suspicions of them not doing anything about it to rest.

  • N73 firmware update failure!

    Hello,
I'm currently using firmware version 3.0704.1.0.1 and I'm like to update this firmware with the latest verison of firmware which is 4.x.xxx.x.x.x. I constantly get an error when I'm trying to install the latest version of firmware.
The message that I get is shown on this screenshot.

Keep in mind, that I have formated the Nokia N73 several times, but it simply doesn't work during the update. So I don't have any non-commercial software installed on it at all. Unless I got a virus or something.

  • N73 Firmware update error

When updatiing my phone, i accidentally disconnected the USB cable from the phone. Now i can't turn it on or do anything to it. I tried continuing the update but it didn't work. So what should i do?

One thing you can try doing is physically taking the battery out of your phone for 5 minutes, then putting it back in and switching it back on.
If it comes back on great (don't try installing the old version of the firmware as this will damage your handset), if not then a visit to your local Nokia Service Centre is in order.
    Hope this helps.

Nokia Software Updater doesnt contain 4.0812.4.2.1 but NOKIA SOFTWARE UPDATER starts downloading this in the next step for your phone. I guess this is the answer your looking for.

  • Problems after N73 firmware update

I've had an N73 phone for some time and just recently updated the firmware, which has disabled all my games that are on the phone!! They are still on the memory card, but they will not open. ( Some games were formatted for other nokia models that had worked prior to update, and a few were actually for the correct model, but none work now- Help!

Hi, have you enabled Speed Dial after the reset?
The default setting after a reset is to have speed dial disabled.
If I remember correctly the setting is in "Settings" - "Phone" - "Call" - set "Speed dialling" to On.

Very frustrating for early adopters wanting new toys to play with immediately. I cannot see why CC 2014 cannot be made available on the day of the announcement since there's no packaging or shipping of DVDs involved, but we'll see.
