Hello,
i want to buy nokia e72. Should i go for it.
Also does any one know when is it getting released India?

Yep, it's not shipping yet, but expected to hit the first markets pretty soon. Official quote from http://press.nokia.com/2013/05/09/nokia-introduces-the-nokia-asha-501/:
"The Nokia Asha 501 is expected to start shipping in June 2013. It is expected to be available through approximately 60 operators and distributors in more than 90 countries worldwide."

Does anyone have an idea when is the Nokia N97 mini getiing a software update after 11.0.045?

nokia dont give dates for releasing firmware you will just have to keep checking
and remember updates depend on region/product code and network,ie network has to approve the update
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

    Hello to all.
Recently I did migration to my exchange server from old machine to virtual machine(VM ESXI) all works fine but all (30) nokias e72 stop get mails from exchange still I have Iphone and Samsung galaxy continued to receive emails without a problematic I need to change something in server or turn on any service?
    Thank you in advance.

I don't know if I can help, but I did use Nokia phones with Exchange 2003 on a previous job.  Did you change anything besides the underlying server?  Which version of Exchange are you running?  I assume the E72 users have nothing in common, i.e. all belonging to the same department?
As a test, the first thing I would do is wipe the Exchange account from one of the E72's and set it up from scratch.  If that works, then your fix will be simple, but tedious.

  • Need help on Nokia e72

    Hi,
I bought a Nokia e72 two weeks back. Dont have much problems with it. Its a great phone The only problem i see here is with battery life. Before the phone release it was said that the phone will have 11hr of battery back on call. I was expecting the baterry to stand for 3+ days with normal usage, but i am really disappointed by nokia it hardly goes for 2+ days.
Any one have any trick to make the battery stay longer or any way to handle the phone which will keep the battery well. The second problem i see with phone is the GPS does not seem to be working. but when i use some external application that uses gps, it works. I am using google maps which works awesome.
I will keep posting for any new problem encountered.
One more big queestion is that , when the new firmware will get released, how do we install it on phone, do we loose data on phone, do we loose any functionality ?
Can a firmware resolve the battery issue??
anyways. a little help from me.
I found a nice site where we have many free awesome softwares for nokia e71. www.getjar.com
every possible software is available here. just set your phone model, and the site will have everything compatible to the phone. Nice web site, I really liked it
Some one please help with battery issue
    Thanks,Chanchal Singh

WLAN uses less power than 3G on most phones and particularly on the E72 which has a great autonomy with WLAN.
    Here's the official spec:
    - GSM 12 h 30 min
    - WCDMA 5 h 54 min
    - VoIP 13 h 42 min
    (VoIP uses WLAN)
The problem is however that the phone does not always close the 3G connection when you come under the WLAN connection. I then have to do this manually otherwise it drains the battery.
hint: if you don't always need the speed of 3G (like if you only use email for ex) you can set your  phone to use EDGE/GPRS instead. That's how I survive a full day of push  mail on other devices that don't have that great BP-4L 1500 mA battery of the Eseries. Control Panel -> Settings -> Phone -> Network -> GSM (instead of Dual mode)
Really? That's very strange. When I text chat with Nimbuzz over WLAN my battery seems to go down much quicker than
when I do the same over 3G. I suppose it could be something in the way Nimbuzz handles the connection/data.

I do this all the time and I don't get why there's no automatic management or at least preference-setting per application for this. When text chatting I really don't need the 3G. Only really for voice chat or internet or something like that. It seems to me phones could last for days longer if there was a clever way of managing this. Certainly my E51 used to drain in a little over a day with the 3G on, while it easily lasted 3 days without. It seems a really easy way to blow the competition to bits if you can have smart power/connection management.

  • Nokia e72, gmail setup + syncing contacts and cale...

    My objective was to
    1) get my contacts into the phone from this account, as I had on my old windows mobile device
    2) set up my gmail account on my new nokia e72
    1) getting contacts from gmail into the phone.
    Go here:
    http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=147951
and carefully do whatever is instructed.
*This works for calendar also (I assume you will want your google calendar to come into the phone, and sync thereafter. But all-day entries on google become 24 hour entries, modified by your timezone (eg xyz birthday, 15 mar 2010 5.00 am to 16 mar 2010 5.00 am). Otherwise the calendars seem to sync ok therafter (didn't spend much time there).
*This does not work for tasks. (read the google sync instructions carefully for nokia. but not for tasks, or for email bodies (though email headers sync, and you can probably create and send, and delete etc your email on the phone)
*This does not work email either, ie you can see the message headers, but can't see the bodies of emails on the phone.
The explanation for this I found after much digging is that Mail for Exchange on Nokia is actually meant for Microsoft ActiveSync servers, and Google is providing limited sync facilities using this ....system. (correct me if I'm wrong). See the datasheets on Nokia Europe websites about Mail for Exchange.
Over all, a pity, but you can't blame Nokia. As for Google (in whose hands further improvement lies for MFE playing nice with google mail), I hope, and believe they will make things better here (unless they lose their interest in it like they did with google gears).
2)Now getting your email from gmail into your nokia E72: Here Nokia is at fault, and a serious deficiency. I went to email setup in the menu's and started the wizard to create a new account. It seemed to have preconfigured setups for common email providers like gmail, yahoo etc. I started the gmail set up wizard, keyed in my username and password, then waited 5 seconds, and the screen went back to the previous one. This kept repeating, every time I tried. Tried everything: checked internet connectivity (wifi), closed all other apps including the MFE I had set up earlier, switched off and on the phone, everything short of standing on my head. So what works? How do you set up a personal gmail account on your nokia e72? go here:
    http://www.techniqx.com/2010/02/workaround-for-configuring-gmail.html
(I paste that text here in case that page is removed:
"The email software in Nokia E72 still has lots of bugs. To configure your Gmail account, it’s not as easy as selecting Gmail and entering the credentials. That simply won’t work as there is a bug. Instead, workaround is to select “Other” and enter a false id like [email protected], this will take you to the next page to select the type. Select “POP/IMAP”. Now, you will get an option to enter your credentials and modify advanced settings. Here change your email id back to [email protected] and enter the credentials as mentioned here> (the gmail site for imap manual setup):
    http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78799
And you have gmail set up. Quite inelegant process of setting up gmail on this nokia phone, I would say.
Nokia, please iron out the bugs and inconsistencies in your flagship models' primary functions. Otherwise the phone functions very well, the interface is nice and attractive. And while the bugs are still there, please put up the limitations and  the workarounds if any prominently. Nobody expects 100 % perfection.

I had a number of problems setting up Google Apps with my E72 phone. Mail, Calendar and Tasks were not syncing.
    Mail
I have spent far too long setting up google apps to sync properly with my new E72 (latest software installed). It really is a superb phone but if Nokia is not going to fully support integration with Google Apps with a simple app then Android and Blackberry will simply take over for Apps users. It really isn't up to Google to solve this its up to Nokia. Are we going to move from Google Apps or change our phones????
I have gmail and  business google apps accounts and both are now syncing properly with what seems to be pretty good Nokia email software on the phone. This is allowing me to receive, send, view attachments, view sent mail etc. Here are the steps I took from the beginning. Its a repeat of some of the good advice above which helped me on my long journey!
    1. Enable IMAP for the google accounts. Couldn't get anything to work otherwise.
    2. Follow this instruction https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78887
    3. The inbox should now be working however you now need to map the other folders you want to see on your mobile. While at your inbox go to >settings>mailbox settings>what to sync>folder subscriptions.
    4. Click on Gmail and highlight the folders you want to see
    5. Go back to your inbox and go to the dragdown list of folders and highlight 'More Folders'. Under 'Gmail' you will find your sent items along with attachments etc. Problem solved. Its not a pretty solution but at this stage like me you just want something that works.
    Calendar
This was a nightmare and I am now running a third party app called Googasync which is working fine. In 10 days time I will need to buy this so if someone knows how to setup calendar syncing properly without it please let me know.
    Tasks
Googasync will not sync Tasks and I don't know if there is any app out there that will. If someone can help please let me know. Surely this should be pretty simple!?!?!
By the way I mailed Nokia support last Thursday on the above but have not received a reply other than to tell me that Google Apps is 3rd party software and not supported. Nokia needs to wise up.
In summary its a great phone and I've moved from a Blackerry Bold to it but I shouldn't be spending days finding workarounds!!

People are started to replace old Windows XP systems to new operating system (or planned to install near future) because everyone is telling that Windows Vista didn't work well even on new preinstalled system. Most of people I know are replaced their OS to Ubuntu system.
I don't want to by a new computer to get OSX, so when the Nokia PC suite Linux-family version is released? This XP is very rotten and I don't want to wait to next spring or something. I really like to know planned release dates or do I have to change my phone instead?!? Room mate says that Sony-Ericsson works already directly without any extra software installation on his Ubuntu

"Don't hold your breath. People have been asking for linux support for years."
OK. I hope some Nokia people read this soon if they want to keep customers. It is cheaper to switch mobile phone than computer

  • Nokia E72 voice mail icon shows even when I have n...

I have a new Nokia E72 UK edition and am with Orange UK network.
The voice mail notification icon in my E72 always shows in the bottom right of the screen even when I have no voice mail, and have deleted all the messages. This is really annoying, especially as for a while it worked fine.
I tried disabling voice mail notifications, switching the phone on and off, then enabling them again but still no joy.

This is quite a common problem on orange UK.  It's actually oranges fault.
Some of the following things have been known to clear the fault:
Placing the sim into another non-orange unlocked phone, then checking the voicemail.  When put back into the orange phone the icon has gone.
Calling customer services and requesting an over-the-air sim update, this nearly always solves it.
Calling or visiting an orange store and getting the sim card replaced.

  • When will Nokia release software update programs w...

I am trying to update the firmware for my E71, as I understand the newest firmware is pretty decent and offers improved performance.
However, the programs which Nokia provide to do these updates simply don't work.
When using the update tool through the Nokia PC Suite, I get the classic 'configuration error' and I try all the suggestions it gives to no avail.
So, somebody suggests I install the Nokia Ovi Suite, as that has a software updater which apparently works.  It doesn't.  If I'm not getting an 'unknown error' (which suggests either to restart the Ovi suite and if that fails to reboot the computer - both of these result in the same thing happening again), then the Ovi Suite gets the Windows 'This program has stopped working' message.
Nokia - HOW HARD CAN IT BE TO GET THIS RIGHT???  You're supposed to be the market leader for mobile phones, and you can't get this right.  I now remember why I swore blind never to get another Nokia phone ever again after the bug-ridden monstrosity that was the N73.

If your phone is branded or locked to Mobitel or another serviceprovider, it might be that they haven't approved the update yet, as they are entitled to. It might also be that Nokia hasn't yet released the update for that region for all I know.
There are also special edtitions released wich may never get any update. Eg. Ramadan version.
In any case, it's a matter of waiting. And it seems that it's totally random if Nokia announces updates, though they have done with some of the bigger updates (n97 v20) or the big update comming for the N8.

  • Error when setup a new mailbox, nokia e72, pls hel...

I bought a Nokia E72 several days later. I really love it. I defined an Email mailbox for my company's Email. It is a POP3 mailbox. The mailbox worked well for some days, I can check, send Email using wireless LAN at home and my office.
Yesterday, I tried to edit my mailbox. As I selected the mailbox in order to change it, nothing happened. Because of that, I deleted it, then I tried to create a new one. But since then I can complete the malbox-setup task. After inserting the data, I select "save" to save the mailbox, there is a error: "error occurred in setup mailbox. Try again." I tried many time, but no success.
Someone can solve this problem? pls help!
    Thanks

    I have the same issue.

  • When do PageFlowScope objects get released?

I think that when a task flow has been exited normally(normal in the sense that the taskflow finalizer is called), adf is letting go of the objects belonging to that task flow's page flow scope.
But how about if the user just kills the browser? When will the pageflowscope objects be released? When the session times out and is invalidated?
My guess is that the page flow scope is implemented as a special form of session scope object but that is purely a guess. What I am quite sure of is that some long lived object must be keeping reference to it.

There is a cache of PageFlowScopes, which is stored in the HTTP session. The size of this cache is controlled by the Trinidad's configuration parameter <tt>page-flow-scope-lifetime</tt>:
The <page-flow-scope-lifetime> element controls the maximum number of pageFlowScope instances that will be kept active at any one time. The default is 15. Unlike other <trinidad-config> elements, <page-flow-scope> lifetime does not support EL expressions - it must be configured statically. You may need more that a single active PageFlowScope instances if you have a page with regions, or open multiple browser tabs, or use ADF Faces dialog framework, etc. This cache is used also if you use the browser's Back button to navigate back (if the previous page was from another taskflow, so its PageFlowScope has to be reused again). In my opinion PageFlowScope instances are never released explicitly, but their lifetime is contriolled by the size of the PageFlowScope cache (i.e. by the page-flow-scope-lifetime parameter).

  • My Nokia 701 automatically gets switched off when ...

    Hello nokia users.
My 701 set is a year old. It is now out of the warranty period. Now the irony is, whenever I put a sim card in my nokia 701, it gets automatically switched off.
For this reason, i have contacted the nokia care people, but they said the whole simcard slot need to be changed & it will cost me Rs. 5000 (indian rupees). As you can see, if you purchase a mobile of Rs. 17000 a year before & finding out a year later that it will take another Rs. 5000 to fix it, you can finally say, "Nokia, have you lost your mind. !!"
And one more thing, if i get it fixed by nokia, will i get the warranty of the replaced part (sim card slot) ?
Any solution to fix my problem is appreciated.

Normally you should get some warranty on the repaired part, you need to check with your local Nokia Care Point, since this probably varies by location. I would expect 3-6 months warranty for the repair.

  • Nokia e72 and where did the memory go????

New Nokia e72, after the disappointing Nokia E75 i really didn`t expect Nokia to release another unfinished phone!
Dont get me wrong, great Phone the E72, solid hardware, but it has the same memory problem found in other nokia devices. 42 M at start up. Tried to go on the internet with the build in browser, 2 big flash sites like CNN and sadly the memory was down to between 356 K to 1 M, and the phone didn´t react anymore. After shuting down the browser, the E72 had 42 M in free memory again. It's the same story when using Spotify or Youtube.
Is there any one else with the same problem?  What will/can Nokia do about it?
    Best regards

I am using the program PhoNetInfo to check for available RAM.  Find it at http://www.patrickfrei.ch/phonetinfo/index.html.  Not sure if there's an easier solution?  You will need to follow the instructions to have it signed at http://symbiansigned.com for it to work.
As for the main thread, I am using an E73, which is basically the same as an E72.  Memory was one of the shortcomings I knew about when buying the phone, but so far I have hit only one browser "Out of memory" error.  Guess the sites I use either have a mobile version or simply aren't so memory intensive?  But I might look at this problem from the other perspective.  Unless they're loaded with pictures, web sites that trigger "Out of memory" are probably obscenely FAT!  I marvel at the design of certain modern web sites.  It's as if the programmers get paid by line of code, or are in competition to win this year's Rube Goldberg prize, for the most unnecessarily complicated invention.  Try downloading such a web site over a dial-up connection.  In this case, the problem is totally different, but the resulting frustration is the same.  And IMHO, the cause is the same: BAD DESIGN.  Simpler is better for visitors and both cheaper and easier to maintain.
Has anybody tried the Skyfire?  While it likely has some problems of its own, I assume it will work around a straightforward "Out of memory" error...because it's not a real web browser?

  • When will Nokia relase NSU for MAC?

Anyone any idea when this will happen. I'm sure there are enough Mac users out there to warrant a release of PC Suite and NSU for Mac.
At the moment, I have to reply upon software updates only being possible through a Windoze machine.

We are equally as frustrated but also know that the search feature of this board can be your best friend. You did not trouble me but I am simply informing you of facts as they are. Sorry if you do not like them, or they were not said in a way to make you feel happy but the truth still remains. Nokia cares very little for the Mac community. It is as simple as that. The Mac version of the NSU has been promised for years, Years, YEars, YEArs, YEARs, YEARS..... You get my point, and still no resolution or hope on the horizon. The only option is to either stay with Nokia and continue to be disappointed, or move to another brand, or to have a Windows PC somewhere near by. The other option is FOTA but sometimes Nokia does not release this as well.
