When is sync finished

I have the 4s & when syncing I notice that it no longer says 'sync in progress'  & there seems to be no way of knowing when the sync has ended from looking at the phone. It used to go from 'sync in progress' to the normal lockscreen so you could see at a glance that it had ended.

    I'd like to get audio feedback when my device sync completes. So far, I haven't found any setting in Mavericks setting or in iTunes settings to do configure it to make a sound when it finished syncing.
    Is there something that I missed, or is it impossible?

    There is currently no option to set that would provide a sound when the sync is complete. You can send you suggestion to Apple, however:

  • HT201272 My iPhone won't download music from iCloud only apps. The songs appear to download, then give a download error message just before it finishes. Also the songs won't transfer when I sync the phone to pc, only the apps.

    I experienced the same issue as you have. What worked for me is the following:
    Go to iTunes store on your iPad. Under Downloads (the icon to the bottom right) you should see the episode that is causing you the issue. Delete this episode (swipe to left). Then retry. This worked for me.
    The workaround is far from ideal and Apple needs to find a solution for this as you are not the only one who reported this issue.

  • Why doesn't com.apple.IE.client.exeshut down when Mobile Me finishes sync?

    Since upgrading to iTunes 9.1.0.74 a couple of days ago, the com.apple.IE.client.exe process, which starts during the Calendars phase of a Mobile Me manual sync process, fails to shut down when the sync process is complete. The Calendars phase now runs 5-10 minutes even when there are no Calendar changes. While it runs, com.apple.IE.client.exe runs at 50% of the CPU, and memory usage climbs continuously. It reaches about 2 GB (2,000,000 K in Windows Task Manager!) by the time the sync process completes.
    However, com.apple.IE.client.exe _doesn't end_ even though the sync is complete. Instead, it keeps running at 50% CPU. Somewhere around 2.1 to 2.2 GB of memory usage it reports: "com.apple.IE.client.exe - Application Error. The exception Breakpoint. A breakpoint has been reached. (0x80000003) occurred in the application at location 0x0c90120E."
    This has occurred at the end of four Mobile Me syncs now. Upon selecting OK to end the application, everything else seems fine.
    I see other posts regarding the com.apple.IE.client.exe process in the latest iTunes update, but no clear resolution. I tried Apple Mobile Me chat, and replicated the problem twice while on-line, but their only recommendation (after verifying that my only Outlook COM add-on is the iTunes add-on) was to reinstall iTunes and Mobile Me, and if that didn't work, to create another user and see if the sync problem occurred there. Since that user would have no Outlook data to sync, this suggestion wasn't very helpful.

    As am experiment, I just ran a Mobile Me manual sync, but first I de-selected Bookmarks, and synced just Contacts and Calendars. com.apple.IE.client.exe did NOT start at the beginning of the Calendars sync phase (as it had in the four previous syncs since upgrading to iTunes 9.1.0.79). In fact, it did not start at all, the Calendars sync phase finished quickly and the entire sync process finished in less than a minute.
    The apparent conclusion is that com.apple.IE.client.exe is used to sync IE bookmarks with Mobile Me, it starts (for some unknown reason) at the beginning of the Calendars sync phase if Bookmarks are being synced (not at the beginning of the Bookmarks sync phase), it delays the Calendars sync phase significantly (but not the Bookmarks sync phase), and it has some sort of serious memory leak problem that balloons its memory usage past 2 GB.

    Same thing has been happening to me and I havent been able to find a fix. Itunes has basically rendered my phone uselsee. It wont see it, let alone sync it.

    What itunes is asking is would you like to import the files and settings of your ipod to your iphone? It'll import things like contacts, calendar, mail, apps with app data.  If you want your phone set up just like your ipod then use that option.  Otherwise pick "set up as a new device" and it'll allow you to keep the two seperate and you will be able to sync them both to your itunes independently of each other.

  • When I sync my ipod to add new material, sometimes itunes will automatically rearrange the song order of my pre-existing albums by number of plays. Why does it do this? And is there a way to stop it?

    When I add an album to itunes and subsequently to my ipod, everything is arranged by track number of the album. Sometimes when I sync in order to add new material to my ipod, itunes for some reason automatically rearranges some of my pre-existing material by songs with the greatest number of plays to least (though sometimes it seems to be completely random). When I check itunes on my computer, everything still appears to be in order but the way it appears on the device often is in the previously mentioned disorder. Why does it do this? Is there any setting that I can adjust to make it stop because the only way I've found so far is to delete the rearranged material and re-import the cd and then re-sync. It might sound picky, but I prefer that my music be in order by track number as the artists themselves intended for various reasons the foremost being that I often listen to whole albums from start to finish and this glitch makes such problematic. I have found some settings in preferences that focus on how material is arranged but this seemed to be focused on the actual folders where the music is located on my hard drive and not the way it appears on the ipod. If anyone knows the reason it does this or has suggestions on fixing it, I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks.

    Did the original songs that do not appear on the car player play in the Music app on the iPod? Sometimes glitches happen and they do not. Also, If y ohave a 5G iPod/iOS 7, purchase songs  will show with an cloud icon by them if they are not downloaded if Shall All is turned on in Settings>iTunes and App Store

  • I get an error message when I sync my iPhone 5 with itunes on a Windows 7 laptop. When I go back to my music there are exclamation marks next to many songs. I have reinstalled iTunes

    I get an error message when I sync my iPhone 5 with iTunes on my Windows 7 Samsung laptop.  I recently backed up all of my data using Samsung Recovery Solution 5 to an external hard drive so that I could restore my laptop.  I put all of my data back on the restored laptop and reinstalled iTunes. After the error message that says that certain items could not be found and the "sync" is finished I go back to my music in iTunes and there are exclamation marks next to many songs.  I follow some instructions regarding the Edit - Preferences - Advanced settings and the exclamation marks go away until I try to sync my phone again.  Then I get the same error message and the exclamation marks return.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and the same thing happens again.  I am about to schedule an appointment with the Genius Bar but would like to avoid that if possible.  Thank you in advance for any help.

    You don't need separate iCloud accounts if you want to simply sync unique content to each device using iTunes. I have three iDevices using one ID and one iTunes library and each device has it's own content on it. You need to set up the sync configuration for each device. This is what I recommend.
    First turn off auto sync in iTunes. Launch iTunes on the Mac and go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices>Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from automatically syncing. Click OK and then quit iTunes.
    Connect one of your devices to the Mac and launch iTunes.
    Click on the device name on the left side under the devices heading.
    Click on a tab in iTunes - Apps for instance.
    Click on the Apps that you want to sync to that device.
    Make sure that the Sync Apps heading is checked.
    Follow the same procedure for all of the other tabs in iTunes ..... Music, Photos, Movies and so on.
    After you have finished making all of your selections, click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes.
    When you are done, eject the first device and do the same thing with the other device. iTunes will now remember the sync configuration on each device.
    You can change that configuration any time that you like by following the steps outlined above.
    If you want to continue to auto sync, turn it back on in the iTunes preferences as described above.

  • Why cant i get any songs to go on my ipod touch when I sync it?

    I have synced my ipod several times in the past. It is only 5 months old. I have owned several ipod and an ipad in the past and never had this problem before. I synced it tonight to add a few songs. I have "sync only checked songs" clicked. I finished to sync and checked the ipod and there were many songs missing. I tried a few more times and still could not get all of the songs on there. I then tried restoring the ipod. I synced it after the restore and there were no songs, videos, apps, or anything on the ipod. I have since restored and synced it several times with no success. There is NOTHING on the ipod. It shows it syncing, it shows ech song going on there and each video and when the sync completes, there is nothing on hte ipod. I have used all 4 usb ports and 3 different cables just incase it was a problem with one of those. Does anyone know what to do? Has anyone else had this problem? oh, and this happened right after I updated to 4.3.3

    I have exactly the same problem and am extremely frustrated.  I have reset it, restored it rebooted the computer and stil nothing at all.  This is a very recent problem as I have synced it only a few weeks ago with no problem.

  • ITunes deletes song files from my computer when I sync a device

    When I sync a device in iTunes, it will sync fine and copy over all the files I need it to, but sometimes it will delete those files from my computer after it finishes copying them over. I'm not sure why this happens, I just know that I definitely have the songs on my machine before the sync, and afterwards, exclamation marks will begin appearing next to some of the items that were just synced over. It isn't a problem with the music files themselves, because it might only delete a few songs from an album that I imported all at the same time. It isn't just one device either, it's happened with all of my devices: an iPod Shuffle 2nd and 4th gen, Nano 5th and 6th gen, Classic, iTouch, and iPhone 3GS and 4GS. I've set iTunes to automatically copy music files into the iTunes media folder, and keep it organized, so I try navigating to the folder where the files would be, and the files are just not there anymore, or anywhere in the media folder; there's nothing in the reclycling bin either. The lower bit rate music file will be on the device still, but that's the only copy to be found anywhere. I have a fairly large iTunes library - about 90 GBs of music, and over 100 GBs of Movies and TV shows - but I'm not sure if that's part of the problem or not, though it does slow down iTunes a great deal when editing file info. I only know that it happens with music files, since I don't really sync over the other types of media as much. I believe that it might have something to do with the 'Convert higher bit-rate songs to ___ kbps' function, because it appears that only files that are higher bit rates than that setting will be deleted.
    I've tried dealing with it for awhile, but it's getting to be a real pain to go find and re-import all of those CDs, so I'm hoping someone can help me with why it happens or at least a way to stop the deletions. Maybe someone else is having this same problem as well?

  • Im trying to download an app for my ipod touch, but when the sync is over i look at my screen and it says the app has fail to install

    Right, what App are you trying to download? What iPod touch have you got? 1st Gen., 2nd Gen., 3rd Gen or 4th Gen? Also what version of iOS are you running?

  • ITunes Behaving Strangely When I Sync

    Ok, I have some serious issues going on with iTunes, and I am hopeful that you all can help me diagnose the problem.
    The symptoms:
    1. If I download an app on my iPhone or iPad which already exist in my iTunes library, iTunes will delete that app from my device when I sync it.
    2. When I connect my iPhone or iPad to my Mac to sync it, iTunes insists on reinstalling EVERY app installed on the device, unless I cancel the sync and transfer all newly-purchased/downloaded apps from the iPad/iPhone prior to syncing.
    3. When I right-click on my iPad and select "Transfer Purchases", new music will transfer to iTunes, but new apps will not. (This one just started today, and seems to be confined to the iPad alone; the iPhone does not seem to be affected.)
    I have tried everything I could find, including doing a complete restore on both the iPad and iPhone, rebuilding iTunes library, and even completely uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it, but nothing as of yet has helped. I thank you in advance for any and all assistance you are able to provide.

    I restored my iPad, which fixed the third symptom, and doing away with the auto-sync and transferring purchases from the iPad to my Mac before syncing works around the first symptom, but I'm still experiencing symptom #2, where any app I download directly to my iPad (or my iPhone) that already exists in my iTunes library will get uninstalled when I sync my iPad (or iPhone) to my Mac unless I manually go through each and every app that I downloaded to the iPad (or iPhone) and click its checkbox in the Apps tab. This really gets annoying, especially on a day like today, when I was away from home and remembered a big bunch of apps that I wanted to reinstall on my iPad. That meant that once I got home, I had to do the following:
    1. Connect the iPad to my Mac and open iTunes.
    2. Go to the Apps tab on my iPad.
    3. Click "Apply"
    4. Have it tell me that 16(!) apps were going to be removed including <name of app #1 here>.
    5. Click "Cancel". (A "Keep All" button would be a lifesaver right here, as I would be finished!)
    6. Find <name of app #1 here> and click its checkbox, then click "Apply".
    7. Have it tell me that 15 apps were going to be removed including <name of app #2 here>.
    8. Click "Cancel".
    9. Find <name of app #2 here> AND <name of app #1 here>, because iTunes unchecks all the apps that were unchecked when we first arrived at the Apps tab after each canceled Sync.
    …and so on…
    In other words, by the time I got to the end, I had to find apps 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16, clicking each of their checkboxes, and then FINALLY click "Apply".
    Admittedly, re-downloading 16 apps while not at home isn't a daily occurrence, but re-downloading 3 or even 4 happens often enough for this to be a real pain in the derrierre.
    Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this or how to fix it?

  • I lost my music on my phone when I synced it to my laptop

    I Just synced my iPhone 4S to my laptop and when it was finished all my music was gone on my phone. Everything else was still on it. It was my daughters phone and already had a lot of music on it some of it was purchased and some was put on from frostwire from a computer. Is there anyway to get my music back on my phone? Does anyone know why the music was not on my phone after doing this? This is the third time I have synced it to my laptop and it's never happened before.

    The iPhone can Only Sync to One iTunes Library at a time.

    when I sync my ipad with my Imac a different apple id is shown and I have to overwrite it. The login appears again and this shows yet another different apple id? Does anyone know how this could happen?

    It sounds like you need to sign out of your iTunes account on your iOS device or computer, and update the information for your Apple ID and billing.
