When is the 2G iPod touch coming out?

I want to buy one but if there's one coming out I guess I can wait.

Yeah seems so! Folks always looking for the next version! There isn't really much more than can do with the iPod other than maybe add a camera and a built in speaker. It would be a ***** if they added a better camera than you can get on the new iPhone G3. LOL No such luck!
I would like to see a 60/64gb version though.. but I don't them flash memory is available yet in that size and if it was or is would it be priced so that Apple could actually create an iPod at the right pricing point that it would sell.

    I know the pain of waiting. I waited 2 months for a liquid-cooled PowerMac G5 after they were introduced. They had issues with leaks.
    I read there are quality control issues with the new iPhone 5. Some new units out of the box have nick and scratches in them. They are probably trying to rectify that for iPods too, and that may be slowing production.

    No way to know. Apple has not announced anything about a Second Generation Mini at this time.  When they do you can bet it will be posted everywhere.
    Personally I'd wait for their customary media event in September, we'll likely hear about it then if its being planned at all.

    Apple did not yet state a release date, only "early this year".

    Why should you? Both, Photos and iPhoto, also Aperture can coexist peacefully.
    Keep organizing your photos in iPhoto, while giving Photos a trial run. And when you are sure that Photos is what you want migrate your iphoto Libraries. But you may still want to use iPhoto for editing or adding Places to photos and similar.
    So keep it installed.
