When is the maps app going to be fixed?

The new Maps app powered by TomTom is horrible. It couldn't find a restaurant that my wife's google maps found on her iPhone 4S. Then it gave me directions to a friend's house; but tried to give us a shortcut off road through the woods. Really? I was in a car, not a 4-wheeler. Basically I no longer have a GPS on my phone. What a waste. I hope Apple realizes they messed up and will go back to the very reliable Google maps app.

Given that "will not charge you for going over your usage limit this month", why would you want it fixed?  It sounds like you've been given a free upgrade to unlimited broadband!
More seriously, BT's systems are incredibly flaky, and I don't suppose anyone really knows when it'll be fixed.

Thats not where they are thats where Apple think they are, try coming out of Victoria walking straight across the road and you are in ?????   god knows where on apple but its not where you acually are, I have tried it and its total crap. By the way there are 2 Hammersmith underground stations. Your map just shows 1 pin
You explicity claimed that "all 400 stations are missing" in Apple Maps. I only needed to locate one to prove you wrong. Instead, I proved you doubly wrong. I didn't realize I needed to prove you triply-wrong. Oh well...
Naming subway stops is not Apple's responsibility and obviously not London's strenths. The pin shows the general location of "hammersmith".
Okay I am in Holloway road, where is the nearest station to me?, if I don't know the name I cant find the station.  I know there are 6 but Apple does not show any of them
When I enter "holloway road london", I get a bunch of pins and the first one that automatically gets selected is the subway station. Since that is one of "any of them", you have been proved wrong 4 times over.
Etre have you ever been out and used walking maps? I think you need specsavers
Do you actually own an iPhone? Are you aware it has GPS? Have you really ever actually tried it? Because when I manually nagivate to one end of Holloway road and search for "underground", I get this:
Strangely, if I go to the other end of the street and do the same thing, I get an entirely different station:
I wonder what would happen if I did a similar search for "underground" while zoomed in on the "hammersmith" pin?
Well what do you know? But how would I ever get there? Hmmm, you mentioned "walking maps". Maybe I should try walking directions from "hammersmith" to one of the underground stations.
By my count, I have proved your anti-Apple Maps misinformation to be wrong 6 times over. Wanna try for a lucky seven?

  • When is the usage monitor going to be fixed?

I have been getting this message for months now,
"The usage monitor is currently not available for a small number of customers. We understand how important it is to monitor usage, and as you're not able to view the usage monitor we will not charge you for going over your usage limit this month. When is this going to be fixed? how many other people are getting this message?

  • When is the 'OMIT' bug going to be fixed?

    Hi, gurus,
I mean that bug that if a string contains 'OMIT' this part is not displayed in reports.
Ok, I've seen this bug reported 2004, also September 2005. Someone answered that this bug is planned for a future release.
I am using HTML DB 2.0.
I don't really think that reserved words of any kind should interact with real data from any field. I've also seen that it is been kept for compatibility reasons.
So, my question is either when is it going to be fixed or is there a way to surpass this problem temporarily.
    10x in advance!

  • When is the iMessage activation going to be fixed?

I am still waiting for iMessage to activate. Anyone got any up to date remedies or is there a statement from Apple?

Let me clarify - my iMessage works with email addresses, but not with my phone number.
As I understand the iMessage/Facetime phone number activation it follows this process:
Your phone looks up its location using time-zone settings
It then sends a request via Internet (wifi or cellular) to Apple's local servers
It waits for an SMS to come back from Apple's servers with a key
It sends the key from SMS back to Apple's servers
Your phone number is now linked with your imessage account
To me this suggests that my carrier (Telstra Australia) is blocking the SMS with the key in it.  In the UK a lot of users of O2's TuGo service (which is a phone number/text message redirection service) are having these issues because TuGo is screwing with the texts.  If it is the case that Telstra is blocking the text message (they may have some kind of spam rejection thing in place), then it's probably going to take Apple talking to Telstra to stop the blocking.
Alternatively it means that the Apple servers aren't sending/accepting the keys which would require Apple's intervention.
Either way I think the best hope for an enduring resolution is to follow http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4268 and then contact Apple, and explaining which carrier you're on when your issue is escalated.

  • When is the error message going to be fixed????

I keep on getting an error message that many of you are getting.  I have e-mailed Verizon and also gone into the stores.  The corporate store said they can't be of any help and I have to do everything on line........Come on, my message to Verizon was over 6 hours ago, I have spent about 6 hours since midnight trying to fix this.  With several computers, 4 browsers and nothing..... HELP!!!

So Firefox is leaving you in "the lurch" because you installed a POS toolbar which is supported by freecause.com which doesn't have its' act together enough to make sure that their security certificate is up-to-date??
Firefox is doing its' job by alerting you to the out-of-date certificate! You need to figure out what extension you have installed which is causing that message, and disable that extension until the certificate is replaced by a current certificate.

  • When is the volume problem going to be fixed?

I'm new to the world of Macs (just bought in January) after 15 years of PCs.
Just wondering how it works in the Apple universe - how long does it usually take for bug fixes to come out?
It's only been a couple of days but I am already tired of volume setting 1 being acceptable to slighty quiet (depending on the application). It is very annoying to not be able to reduce the volume any less than that - for example if someone wanted to be on the phone in the room with me, I would have to mute the sound rather than just being able to turn it down like I used to.
I don't necessarily need it down to the same level as before but some reduction is needed. Not everyone uses their Mac in a noisy office!!
    iMac 20"   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I'm not sure what you're talking about here. In my quiet home office, I can barely hear the system beep or iTunes music -- sometimes not at all, depending on the song -- with the system volume set to the lowest setting. Slightly below medium is acceptable for me. You probably have some other sound output setting that is interfering. Are you using external powered speakers with the volume jacked up? Or perhaps you need to change the various output settings in the Sound pane of System Preferences?
Regardless, I don't think you should be looking for a bug fix here, because unless there's some new bug in 10.4.9 (I'm still at 10.4.8), there's no bug here, AFAIK.

  • When is the Flash issue going to be fixed in Lion?  Freezes every time...

I can't even load the YouTube website without my entire computer coming to screeching halt.  I have to hard reboot my computer everytime.  Doesn't matter if the youtube video is embedded in another website as long as its a flash video it crashes my computer now that I have installed Lion.  HELP..!!

I may be the only one with this issue and if so then I apologize for mis stating the question.  However, my iMac is less than 2 weeks old and as soon I upgraded I had the issue.  I also saw the same issue listed on MacRumors which lead me to believe that others are aware of the problem.  I just downloaded flash 11 beta and am no longer having that issue.  Perhaps it is specific to the 21.5 inch iMac's i'm not sure.  Hopefully others with similar issues will try the beta and at least be able to surf content without crashing.  Thanks again for everyones quick responses.
PS.  I don't care about Flash either and wish it would go away.

  • I bought an iPhone 5s in China and the maps app is different.  When I go to the US will I be able to use Apple's native app or will I be stuck with this one?

So I wanted to ask a question that my googlefoo couldn't help me solve.
I bought an iphone at a reputable electronics market here in China and it is an AT&T model phone.  I bought it at one of the grey market locations because they were sold out elsewhere.  I contacted a friend at AT&T to make sure it is a legit AT&T model.  The phone is great and everything works perfectly including maps.  But maps are done by Autonavi here in China, not Apple.  I downloaded the Mavericks update on my mac and tried some of the new maps features and they wouldn't work with my phone.  That's okay since I live in China now but I'll be going back to the USA soon and I wonder what will happen.  Will it update the app to Apple's native one or stay with Autonavi.  Autonatvi does not have the flyover features and it is not robust in the USA.
Who can help me out here?  Has anyone purchased a 5, 5c, or 5s in China and gone elsewhere?  Did the maps app change?
    Thank you
tl;dr my china iphone has autonavi for maps not apple, when I go to the usa will I get the native app?

I live in China as well and my iPhone5s is the model A1530 I bougth outside China. I have the same problem as Nikatnight with the iPhone while the iPad Air (wifi only) is working like a charm. It must be definitely something related to the carrier since I was abroad few days ago and everything worked well.
If you pay attention at the source of your maps, you'll discover they are provided by AutoNavi instead of TomTom and make them appear in chinese with their own border interpretation. Queries are only acceppted in Chinese (p.e. if I type in english "Los Angeles International Airport"  it replies it cannot locate it)
I suppose everything will be fine when you'll be out of censorship....
Perhaps iOS  Apple Maps are absolutely useless for expatriate in China.
    Use Google Maps instead
BTW, I'm surprised how much Apple might prostrate towards hard power Governments.... No matter what, money are always on top!

  • When will the iphone get audio directions in the maps app like the droid?

When will the iphone get audio directions in the maps app like the droid?

We have no idea when, or if, spoken directions will ever be added to the iPhone as a default feature. There are, however, other apps available from third-party developers that provide turn-by-turn directions.
    Regards.

  • HT5429 Is there a way to turn off the turn-by-turn navigation voice from the map app itself without ending the directions?

I know that it is possible to turn off the voice for turn-by-turn directions completely (in the settings menu), but is there a way to temporarily silence the voice from the maps app itself? For example, if I am driving to the freeway from my house I know how to get there and do not want my phone talking to me, but I would like to keep the directions active and turn on the voice once I need it later in the directions. Is there an easy way to do this without going to the settings app each time?

I don't think there's any way to do it, but I'd like that feature as well: on long trips I listen to an audiobook and when I'm travelling routes that I already know well, I mostly want to use navigation to route around any traffic that might occur.
In both cases, the voice directions aren't welcome, and I can get by with the on-screen display… and in other GPS navigation software or hardware I've had, muting the voice was an easily accessed option.  (Garmin USA on the iPhone, for example, has a 'mute' icon available right on the maps display).
I've requested that feature at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html - you may wish to do the same.

  • How did Apple screw up the maps app this badly?

I am normally not a complainer, but rather appreciate great technology.
However, I am shocked beyond description about how badly Apple screwed up the maps application in IOS 6.
The maps application is the by far the most frequently used and most useful iphone application for me.
I rely on it all the time.  It WAS so incredibly easy to use, and almost always dependable.
Yes, turn-by-turn directions would be nice, but not at the cost of screwing up so many other critical features.
I have now had 2 extremely frustrating experiences.
The other night, I was driving home from work and using the maps application to route to a store.  I was using the voice instruction mode.  There was heavy traffic so I wanted to zoom out / around to look for alternate routes.  Well, this is almost impossible to do, and furthermore, there is much less accurate and detailed information about traffic conditions.  This would have been a piece of cake with the old maps application.
Yesterday, I had to make a trip to Pacific Sales in San Jose.I tried "Pacific" with the mapped zoomed to the general area, and it could not find it.Then I tried "Pacific sales", again no luck.  Its an appliance store, so I tried "appliances", and again no luck.
Finally, I had to log into the web, go to google maps, and find it there.
It was slow, but it worked!
1 month ago, I had the highest confidence in Apple due to their track record of deliverying great stuff that works and is easy to use.
I would never have considered an android phone.
However, this problem with the maps app has so shaken my confidence in Apple, that I will go today to look at a Samsung Galaxy III.
Maybe its not going to be my thing, but I hope Apple realizes how big they screwed up.
The Apple of Steve Jobs would never, ever, ever have let this happen.
The old Apple would have stayed with Google Maps for another year, and made this new maps app better, more reliable, and more user friendly than Android BEFORE releasing it.  It would have been revolutionarily good and would have surprised us with how good it was.
I really truly love Apple and its products.
But this is a really bad mistake and I am so fearful that its an omen of whats to come in future from Apple.
I would not be surprised if this very deeply damages Apple at a time when the competition is getting tougher & tougher.
Of all the functions on the Apple Iphone, the maps are the heart and soul.  Apple is probably right to go its own way eventually, but not like this!
It is just going to drive people into the arms of Android.
I am just curious, did Apple actually test this thing thoroughly before releasing it?
I mean, it took me only a few days to figure out this thing is total crap.
How did Apple not know this (which is a very scary thought), or maybe even more scary, maybe they did know but feel they have enough market power to get away with it?  I can't think of any other explanations. So, which is it?  Either way, its very bad news for Apple fans.

Ok, 3 more wonderful IOS 6 maps experiences to share!
When out shopping for paints, decided to visit Kelly Moore.
Used the maps app and used it to take me to the nearest store, except it was not where maps said it would be!
I called the Kelly Moore store, and they told me the maps app has the wrong town, and they have had many customers with the same problem!
Next up, I was looking for a Sherwin Williams store in San Jose, so maps took me to El Camino Real, except it took me to the wrong end of El Camino Real in Santa Clara, about 15 minutes from the right destination in Mountain View!  In fact, the app took me to Santa Clara University!
Last up, I was looking for a Chevron station.  Apps routed me to the location, but no gas station.
So, I finally decide to use google maps through the browser, and it ends up it was again the right address but wrong city!!!!
Unbelievable!  My confidence in Apple has been further shaken, to where I am about to give up.
I just can't trust their app, which is something I depend on every day to save me time, money and gas.
So disappointed in Apple right now...  It makes antenna gate look like a minor incident, which it was in my opinion!

  • How do I get routing data from the Map App (powered by TomTom) so I can display the point-to-point annotations (turn-by-turn navigation) without leaving my own application.

I have a tableView displaying a list of contacts from a Cloud Database.  After selecting a contact, I push to a programmatically created MKMapView.  Then I display the initial region (the view) that includes the users current location (starting point) and their selected destination (end point).
Now I want to display annotations (as described in the Location Awareness Programming Guide) that displays polylines which will represent the turn-by-turn navigation IN MY OWN APPLICATION, and not in the Map App currently used in IOS6.
Due to licensing and its becoming depricated in IOS 6, I do not want to get routing data from the Google Maps API.  How do I get routing data from the IOS 6 Map App (powered by TomTom) so I can display the point-to-point annotations (turn-by-turn navigation) without leaving my own application?
I checked out Stack Overflow and other forums which basically left me with the impression that this is not possible. I also checked out the TomTom iPhone Mobile SDK User Guide from the TomTom Developer Portal and am still confused.  It must be possible to retrieve routes, since the Map App can display turn-by-turn directions.  How can I retrieve turn-by-turn data that I may display as a route within my own application?

Thanks Michael. Apologies for the slow reply I was away for a bit (holiday blitz at work and visiting family madness etc.etc.) back now, I set both options you requested to "never " and retried the CMS software with no change.
I do have progress of a sort though, as a test I took a separate test PC and put a clean install of Win7 on and loaded up the CMS software (it worked perfectly) and then took the version of ole32.dll off that machine and put it onto the computer I had built
    for her (using Linux) and...
got a new error code. Darn I was so sure I had found a clever solution this time lol.
Anyway now when the CMS fails it gives me a similar error but the offending module is "ntdll.dll" sooo... I tried taking the "working" version of ntdll.dll from the test box and moving it over (making sure to back up the existing ones
first so I could put them back if needed) to her new PC and the PC would not boot.
It seems to want the original versions of a few Dynamic Link Libraries and if I could somehow give it those while not breaking Win7 it should theoretically work seeing as it no longer errors with ole32.dll.
ntdll.dll however seems necessary for Win7 to boot.
So what I am wondering now is:
Is there some way to have both versions of the DLL file in the system32 folder (bypassing the "cannot have two files with the exact same name in the same folder" thing) or rename the original DLL's something else and somehow make the CMS look for
the new named versions so the system has the updated DLL's it needs to boot/run and the CMS has the old ones it wants to run or is there someway to have a self contained install of the CMS, say on a USB flash drive and give it it's own E:/windows/system32/needed
dll's  path to the files it needs?
Willing to try any other options or settings you may have come up with as well.
Thanks again for your reply and my apologies for not answering sooner.
