When browsing a new library that I created and exported onto an external hard drive, the browser shows dotted lines around grey rectangles, no images. When I double click on a rectangle, the image appears, but all the other rectangles remain empty - no image. How do I get images to appear in the browser rectangles? I am viewing this on a second computer (an older intel duo iMac), not the one I created the library on (a MacBook Pro). Both computers have Aperture 3.2.4 installed. When I return the external to the MacBook, all images appear in browser rectangles. What's happening on the iMac?

You may have a problem with the permissions on your external volume. Probably you are not the owner of your library on the second mac.
If you have not already done so, set the "Ignore Ownership on this Volume" flag on your external volume. To do this, select the volume in the Finder and use the Finder command "File > Get Info" (or ⌘I).
In the "Get Info" panel disclose the "Sharing & Permissions" brick, open the padlock, and enable the "Ignore Ownership on this Volume" flag. You will have to authentificate as administrator to do this.
Then run the "Aperture Library First Aid Tools" on this library and repair the permissions. To launch the "First Aid Tools" hold down the ⌥⌘-key combination while you double click your Aperture Library. Select "Repair Permissions" and run the repair; then repeat with "Repair Database". Do this on the omputer where you created the library and where you can see the thumbnails.
Then check, if you now are able to read the library properly on your iMac.

ITunes 12 crashes when accessing the store

I installed Yosemite and iTunes 12.0.1. Since then, it crashes when accessing the store (wolor wheel)
I re-installed iTunes. It works with my Library when my iMac is disconnected from the net, but as soon as iTunes tries to access the store and refresh iTunes Match… Bang. It freezes again and I have to re-install it (it freezes again when I restart, even when disconnected).
Ho can I solve this, please ?

I was having the same issue. iTunes Match had little or none to do with it. Basically anything that required logging into the store (I needed to re auth). Frustrating because iTunes now makes you use your apple id for the tiniest little tasks, and worse yet, it shows logged in, but it really isn't. Anytime I tried to authenticate it would time out and then cause iTunes and a library file to not respond, causing me to force quit. I did notice my wireless connection was suffering. I rebooted my router and tried again, voila! connected and authorized! no time outs! iTunes 12.0.1.26 seems to be a little sensitive to weak connections?

It will only delete your synced content, which you can then resync, it won't affect your iCloud data.

Download it from Adobe. I doubt Lightroom 2 will run correctly on a new Mac that probably came with OS X 10.10.

If the mind is made up with regards to what model to buy I would take the exact oppoasite position. Given the recent release of the MacBook a revision isn't going to appear before the start of college in September so there's no reason to be waiting for something.
Then by buying now there is an opportunity to use the system, get used to, plenty of time to trash the OS a few times, install Boot Camp etc and get it wrong until September. During the next two month you also get an opportunity to resolve any hardware issues which you don't get when buying at the last minute.
There's a good offer with the iPod on the table so why wait?

Ipod classic version 2.3, when connected to new macbook, both freeze

My old but faithful ipod is working fine, and connecting fine to my old ibook. I recently bought a new macbook (10.5.3) and when I try to connect my old ipod, they both freeze. I have to restart my macbook and reset my ipod. Is it possible the 2 are not compatible? The itunes version on this macbook is the newest and I have switched the hold button, but it doesn't help. If I then connect it to my old Ibook (10.2.8), everything is fine.

Updated to iTunes 7.7.1 and the ipod classic is recognized in less than 10 seconds. Congratulations Apple. We only had to wait 21 days for this fix! Thanks...

Why do I have to log into apple id when buying a new macbook?

Easiest way is to connect them together and use Migration Assistant (which comes with all Macs).
To connect them, use one of the following:
ethernet cable
firewire cable
Apple Thunderbolt-Firewire Adapter + firewire cable (if your new Mac has Thunderbolt but your old Mac has FireWire)
thunderbolt cable (if both Macs have Thunderbolt)
network (wired or wireless)
Do not use a USB cable!

You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
1. Open iTunes on a computer
2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

When will the stores have business workshops after the 5pm timeframe, for those that work can go to them?

When will apple stores have business/productivity workshops after the 5pm time weekdays for those that work?

You would need to talk to the store managers about that; we're just fellow users here. I would guess that they schedule workshops during the day when traffic is lighter so as to not impact and be impacted by evening retail traffice.

Why, when on the store I can see album artwork (for an album offered) I cannot get that album artwork when I have the same CD in my collection?

I have several albums that I own the actual CD, some of those CD's are offered on the store (example: America's Greatest Hits) After downloading those CD and asking to get album artwork even though the artwork is available online the store says that artwork is unavailable. Also it would be more than helpful to allow artwork from some online sites to be downloaded like it was about 2 years ago. Since then it is very difficult to drag and pop in missing artwork.
