Hey Hhs12, If your inquiring as to wether Apple is going to release an iOS 7 for the iPod 4-- not going to happen. iOS 7 requires 512MB of RAM, only the iPod 5 has the required 512MB of RAM and there is no way to increase the RAM on an iPod. As Stedman1 stated, iOS 6.1.6 is the highest possible for the iPod 4. Hope this helps. Cheers.

I supsect you did the update on other than your syncing computer. If yu did the app, music and synced photo will not be on the iPod after the update since those items are not in the backup that iTunes makes. See:

The above applies to all updates performedvia USB on a computer. To get stuff back, restore from backup on the syncing computer.
The above in my educated guess since you provided litle information about how you did the update.

There is a time when the software just outgrows the hardware. That is what has happened with the iPod 4th gen.
It is just obsolete. So you are just going to have to live with that fact.

To clarify, iOS 6 is compatible with the 4th generation iPod Touch, but that doesn't mean you get all the features. Siri will only be available on the 5th generation iPods.

**** it's too long. I thought the motto "It's been way too long." Means that there is an update for the ipod touch. Since the CPU and GPU of the 5th gen. runs perfectly well on ios 7. On the ios 8. Everything, including apps run slowly. Another thing is, most apps now are only compatible with device having 1GB of ram. And is A6 & above. The ipad mini ruined the ipod touch because of being in the middle of an iphone and ipad.

So, I have had the Ipod 4th generation for about a year now, and I have never had any trouble adding music onto my ipod until this latest version of itunes came out. Now, I cannot add any more music onto my ipod! I Have grayed out songs that I can't play

So, I have had an Ipod touch (fourth generation) for a little less than a year now, and I have never had any problems with it until the latest version of itunes came out. Now, my ipod never can sync (I left it up for an hour before and it only got to step 2 out of 7), and I can't add any more music to my ipod! To make it worse, about 100 songs that I had deleted off my ipod, but could still be found in my itunes library, appeared again on my ipod! But, they are grayed out and I can't listen to them so they just take up space.
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
