  • When is wifi calling coming out?

It's been months since wifi calling came out for iOS 8, but it still hasn't come to AT&T. )): iOS 9 is about to be released soon, but still no sign of it at all. By any chance it's coming soon, AT&T — or coming at all? It's been a long awaited feature and I am really excited about getting my hands on it. Continuity is a feature I heard on iOS 9 that allows you to take calls and texts through your Mac and iPad — which requires wifi calling enabled (through your cellular connection). I hope it's a feature for an AT&T iPhone, because I think it's very convenient.

Hey, Charise, What if someone calls me from my doctor's office, or a bank, or a polical organization?  They don't use FaceTime. What AT&T customers want is to be treated with respect.  Your front line CSR people are mostly very nice, but company policies like this suggest that at the highest level, you don't give a hoot about our end user experience, as long as we pay our bills.  Get Mr de la Vega to host a town hall and see what customers really think and what our real problems are.

  • When my wife calls me her number shows up blocked on my phone, what do we need to do so her number shows up on my phone?

When my wife calls me it shows up blocked only when she calls, when she calls anyone else it does not show up blocked, I'm guessing there is something in her settings that I cannot find.

On her phone, verify that Settings > Phone > Show My Caller ID > On.

Just downloaded FACETIME on my 4yr. olf Imac running Snow Leopard. When making a call to my friend's Imac all works correctly going both ways. When my wife calls me via Facetime from her Ipad, I cannot click on "accept"- not there? When called by the Imac (newest), the "accept" or "reject" radio button appears for me to click and connect. On my wife's Ipad the two radio buttons always appear when a call actiivates Facetime and comes on?
There is nothing I can find in "Preferences" in Facetime to turn that on or off. I suspect it has to do with having a more current operating system; that the "controls" are in the operating system? [I'm guessing] It's frustrating getting Facebook calls from several friends on Ipads! Any ideas...VFP

I suspect it has to do with not having a more current operating system
Exactly, what Apple is doing is leveraging new features only on newer OS X versions to force you to upgrade OS X to 10.7 or later.
What they don't tell you is 10.7 or later will NOT run your PowerPC based software, some of it you can't get Intel versions like for perfectly working printers, scanners and games etc. So it can be a very expensive OS X upgrade to 10.7 or later with third party software.
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also they don't tell you is the risk in bricking your machine if the update goes badly, so you have to have AppleCare in case that occurs so it's on them to fix it. Else your paying money to replace the logicboard or buying a new machine prematurely.
A four year old machine can't have AppleCare, it's only good for 3 years from date of purchase new.
Your machine came with a boot hard drive, it's usually got about 4-5 years of life on it, then it needs to be replaced.
Also they don't tell you the newer OS X version has more abilities and features that causes your machine to slow down in performance, especially on older machines.
Also they implement new, idotic and extremely fustrating new user interface features in a arbitrary "you take it or leave it" manner with little or no fall back method.
So upgrading OS X is a gamble on older machines that otherwise would likely work perfectly fine for the next 5 years if one didn't need to have to mess with it.
Since Snow Leopard has slightly over 25% OS X version market share, your still good for security updates etc for the next few years if you just want to stay where your at and be happy.
OS X 10.4/10.5 need to upgrade, 10.6.8 ok still
The Lions are, well, not so welcome due to Scott Forstall retard UI issues, OS X Mavericks 10.9 is likely going to fix things a bit better.
But basically what is occuring is Apple is trying to force a faster hardware upgrade cycle with the more expensive products by leveraging features on the smaller devices that expire sooner.
Apple is a hardware company that leverages whatever it can to get you to buy more hardware, it's why they are as rich as they are.

  • When will Wifi-calling be extended to other 'capable' handsets?

When will WiFi calling be extended to other 'capable' handsets? I have never met a company that operate in such an opaque fashion and seem content to leave their subscribers in the dark. If there is no news on this soon I intend to pursue a premature end to my contract.

I can go to another network that would give me an app for calling and texts. No Wifi calling but at least I would have connectivity when I am in my office which has no EE coverage. EE can't offer me Wifi calling or even a promise of it in the future neither can they offer me an app as an interim measure. Crap really.

  • When is Wifi calling going to be available on Verizon Wireless?

Last I heard it was coming 'Mid-year 2015' - this announcement was made back in September 2014 - http://www.phonearena.com/news/Verizons-Shammo-Expect-Wi-Fi-calling-in-2015_id60880
Also, I find Fran Shammo's hand-waving of Wifi calling an very arrogant/weak argument - there are locations in buildings, in basements, that will never receive a cellular signal. Many people face this on a daily basis. Well maintained wifi is a reality in many business settings, and Verizon customers in these situations would benefit greatly from having wifi calling available.
When will Verizon customers have access to Wifi calling in 2015?

@sprmankalel - That's very different than the Wifi calling I'm describing here. Wifi calling allows you to use the number you own, and people who are receiving your calls/SMS messages see your usual number.

  • My phone name comes up when my wife calls from her phone

For some reason, my wife's Iphone shows up as my Iphone name when she makes calendar appointments and when she calls people.  I have here number in my contacts so I do not see that My name shows up when she calls other people.  How do we set her phone so that when she calls people, the caller ID comes up as her name.  Also, how do we change it so that when she sends a calendar appointment, It comes up as her appointment and not mine?

You could manage your account and change your name here: https://appleid.apple.com/

  • WIFI CALLING, RELEASE DATE, COST, AVAILABILITY ON UNLOCKED PHONES

I KNOW THIS QUESTION HAS BEEN ASKED BEFORE BUT NO ANSWER HAS YET TO BE SATISFATORY IN MY EYES.  I WOULD AGAIN LIKE TO INQUIRE, WHEN IS WIFI CALLING COMING OUT?  I SUGGEST YOU THINK ABOUT THE ANSWER YOU GIVE LONG AND HARD FOR IT WILL DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT I STAY OR LEAVE.  WILL IT COST ANYTHING IT SHOULDN'T BUT IF DOES I'LL SWITCH.  WILL IT BE AN APP DOWNLOAD THAT WILL WORK ON UNBRANDED FACTORY UNLOCKED PHONES.

Well, based on the "tone" I read from your initial message, I would sugges that you start looking at other carriers now.  AT&T does not anounce dates that things will be released until they are sure that the dates will be met.  So far, AT&T has indicated that they will try to get something released in 2015, but the year is only half over, so it could still take most of that last 6 months before it is available, we don't know, and AT&T won't say until they know they are ready to release it.  Take a look at Microsoft.  Several months ago, they annouced that Windows 10 would be released on July 29th.  Now they are not saying that, and implying that the release date may slip.  AT&T is not the only company which will not pre-announce things until they are sure they will be ready to meet that date.  Yes, it sucks that we don't know when that feature will be available to us, but that's just the way it is.
As for the "lecturing" you thought you received, almost any place on the internet will give you the same "lecture" (many of them much less politely than ).  Typing in all caps is consider "shouting" in internet terms (and has been for more than 25 years), and it is harder to read than typing in mixed case.  In a printed format, text case and punctuation are the only "body language" your reader has to determine the nature of your message, unlike face-to-face communications.

When my wife receives a call and her screen is locked she gets two choices. Remind me and answer. When I get a call, I get 3 buttons. Remind me, message and answer. Both are iPhone 4S with ios7. Is there some setting to fix this? I thought the phones were set up identically.
    Thanks.

Glad it helped. I only remembered it was there because I'd just been checking something else in that screen.
    Best of luck.

  • HT1689 I have trouble when I am talking to someone and I have a another call coming in - I can answer the other call but in the process I loose the connection to the previous caller that I was talking to

I have trouble when I am talking to someone and I have a nother call coming in - I can answer the call but when I want to go back to the original caller I get disconneted

    From the iPhone User Manual:
Respond to a second incoming call:
Ignore the call and send it to voicemail: Tap Ignore.
Put the first call on hold and answer the new one: Tap Hold Call + Answer.
End the first call and answer the new one: When using a GSM network, tap End Call + Answer. With a CDMA network, tap End Call and when the second call rings back, tap Answer, or drag the slider if the phone is locked. If you’re on a FaceTime video call, you can either end the video call and answer the incoming call, or decline the incoming call.
Switch between calls: Tap Swap. The active call is put on hold. With CDMA, you can’t switch between calls if the second call was outgoing, but you can merge the calls. If you end the second call or the merged call, both calls are terminated.
Merge calls: Tap Merge Calls. With CDMA, you can’t merge calls if the second call was incoming.

  • My phone answers when my wife gets a call. I don't want it to do this

    Turn off iPhone cellular calls

Turn it off on each device you do not want your calls to ring on.   By default all devices associated with the same Apple Id will have this turned on in iOS8 now.

  • When my wifes IPhone 4 8gb receives a call the caller will hear 1 or 2 rings then the ringing stop, however if the caller stays on the line she will answer the call, the incoming rings is not interupted but the outgoing ring (from the caller) has stopped.

When my wife's IPhone 4 8gb receives a call, the caller will hear 1 or 2 rings then the ringing stops, however if the caller waits during the silence my wife will answer the phone because she is actually hearing the ringing. The incoming ring is only is only interrupted by those who are calling her, and is not affected as to when she receives the call.  Most callers feel the call has either dropped or the Iphone is not being answered.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the issue/s are occurring?

That is a new Continuity feature described in Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity - Apple Support
You can turn it off by going to Settings > FaceTime and changing "iPhone Cellular Calls" to off.
You may also want to consider using separate Apple IDs. That is more flexible now with new Family Sharing features: http://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/family-sharing/
