Try unplugging all USB devices, and then give it a go again. If this still does not work, then try the following options:
1. Reboot into Safe mode (hold shift at startup) and try there
2. Reset the system management controller (SMC) which can be done by the instructions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
3. Remove the sleep image file by opening the Terminal utility and running the following command (copy and paste this entire line into the Terminal, and supply your password when prompted):
sudo rm -f /var/vm/sleepimage

  • 2009 Mac Pro Quad Will Not Boot

    Hi.
I have a 2009 Quad 3.0Ghz Mac Pro that will not boot up.
I went to it this morning and the beach ball was spinning. I could not get it to stop and as a last resort, turned it off. It has been working fine, although
I have noticed a little slow (Could be me, though).
When I tried to reboot it, it tried to start, chime went off, but it stayed on the light grey screen and eventually, it had a folder with a question mark in it
    that blinked.
I disconnected all peripherals, no change.
Tried to boot from the optical drive  with Disk Warrior, no change.
    Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Brian

The Chime is generated in Software when the first part of the Power-On Self Test has passed. If an appropriate source of software can be found, booting is likely.
it had a folder with a question mark in it that blinked.
That says it could not find the last-specified source of software. the drive may be damaged, or it may have forgotten where it should be looking.
Tried to boot from the optical drive  with Disk Warrior, no change.
Next try a 10.6 DVD. "A Mac that cannot boot from an appropriate Installer/Utilities DVD has a Hardware problem".
One of the simplest things it should be able to do is Startup Manager. Hold down the Alt/Option key at startup and it should draw a gray or blue screen and slowly draw an Icon for each potentially-bootbale device (including a bootable DVD, if inserted).

Need to erase hard drive and reinstall system on iMac but have misplaced original install disks. Tried to use a my copy of Snow lepord 10.6 from my Mac Pro but will not boot. Can original install disks be replaced. Thanks

Yes the original Install Discs can be replaced for a nominal fee. Call AppleCare, you will need a credit card and the serial number of the machine. You can use the AppleCare Contact Info for the phone number on your part of the planet.

  • Since installing Mac OS X 10.9.2, when my computer sleeps, it frequently will not wake up, and I have to restart from scratch. Any advice?

Since installing Mac OS X 10.9.2, when my iMac sleeps, it frequently will not wake, and I have to force a computer restart.

    Kate Bernard wrote:

Are the troubleshooting steps for fixing a WiFi connection after waking from sleep relevant to a computer that fails to wake up at all?
    Perhaps.

  • I have a mac pro wich will not open windows in boot camp i get to the two options select windows but iyt will not load can you help please

i have a mack pro which will not open in windows from boot camp get to the two options and select windows drive but it will not open can you help Please

Hi there, Well, i thing i might have had the same problem (if you dont mean the selecting part, then try keyboad with usb and without if u dont have a macbook pro or so), i did the same and after selecting windows it said "No bootable disk" or " no boot disk" or something like that and the installer wont start when i was trying to install via CD/DVD.
The sulution is to use 2 usb-drives, one for the support drivers from apple and one for the windows it self after burning the CD/DVD to the usb on a PC using the windows own tools and creating a ISO file.
(there might be problems whit CD/DVD install sometimes)
The ISO file on a own USB is the most importat thing!! (and even apple and windows didnt know that but me and a technikal support guy from the store i bought it managed to fix it after like 4 days )
    Hope it work now mate!

  • Hi All, Mac Pro 2008 will not start after shutdown straight from sleep! Help!

WILL A NEW LOGIC BOARD SOLVE MY PROBLEM?
My early 2008 Mac Pro (2.8, 8-core 22 gigs ram) was shutting down from sleep both when I activated it, and then later by itself. Recently it refused to turn on, shuts down after about 3 seconds, light goes off, fans stop.
Took it in and they replaced the GPU card and PSU. Things were great ... for two weeks. Then suddenly the same symptoms, but at an accelerated rate of occurance. After a day, it did not power on at all save the three seconds of startup fans.
Took it in again. They AGAIN replace the known-faulty ATI Radeon HD2600 XT cards (two), the ones Apple have agreed to replace up to July 2011.
Well got the machine back and she worked like a charm... for two weeks. Same thing now. By the way all checks of hardware, ram, disk drives - extensively have come up OK.
Does anyone have any advice, or have the same problem?
If it is the logic board, is it worth it to replace or when things go south like this is it better to cut your losses as more and more will likely go wrong?
    Would appreciate any feedback.
    Many thanks

We can't help with your question. How would we know what has gone wrong with your hardware? We don't have access to your machine.
I would take it back, or send it in, to Apple Repair.
    I hope you have AppleCare!

  • Mac Pro 2013 will not boot up

After Power on, the Mac Pro (the newest) does not boot up. I have 2 Monitors connected to the Mac Pro. The first via HDMI, the 2.nd via Thunderbold. Also there a 2 HD Devices connected via USB. So when the Mac Starts up on the left (the main screen) a spinning wheel behind a grey Screen appears. The 2.nd Screen show graphical errors. And nothing happen. Onlny when i turn power off an i try it a 2nd. time the Pro starts up correctly. This appears nearly every day since two weeks. I have to start the Pro always two times before i can work with it. I have run the hard disk utility an i have repaired the permissions. the were no errors. I think the build in SSD may have a problem. So is there anyone outside who knows the problems i described ?

    Product recall?
I doubt it. Considering demand for this product was so high it was on allocation for six months, the number of reported problems falls far short of a recall-level problem.
It just sounds like this unit and a few others need service.
Regardless, do not wait for Apple to take action. Focus on getting YOUR specific problem solved. Contact Apple as soon as possible.

My iPhone will not play music. Whenever I try to play music through the speakers on my iPhone it won't let me adjust the volume (like it's connected to a dock) and when I do connect it to a dock, the music plays through the iPhone speakers. Also I've tried just listening to my music through earphones and it plays for around 6 seconds then it goes back to like it's connected to a dock. Help? I've tried turning it off and on, restarting it and even restoring it and nothing's worked.

It says this when not connected to the dock. His dock is an ihome which isn't an official Apple dock. I think my next step is to take the thing in to an Apple store.

  • Captured QT on Kona Card. New Mac Pro Computer will not play the clip.

    Hello everyone.
I bought the new Mac Pro 2.26 & transferred my films to it.
I no longer have the Kona Card that I captured my footage on.
The old G5 would play them without the card.
This clip just plays Black, but the size of it, 5 gigs shows.
Error message: Does not support Codec?
How do I change this file into a different codec?
    Regards
    Bonnie

    Hello Shane
I upgraded to FCP 7 when I bought the New Intel.
(I did not want to upgrade because of this very reason, but I could not render or export my timeline on the old G5. The HD files were too much for the little G5.)
The Kona Capture was at 10 bit RGB.
The bizarre thing is, is that all of the other clips that were captured, play.
I thought maybe the file was corrupt, so I opened my back up external drive, & it is doing the same thing.
This is why everyone tells you not to upgrade when you are in the middle of a project!
If I have to, I will rent a desktop w/a Kona Card.
    Thank you for your help

  • Mac Pro (2006) will not power on

We've got a 2006 Mac Pro in our lab that had been running perfectly well until this week.  We shut down all of the lab computers on Fridays and restart them when we come in on Monday.  When I pressed the power button to start the Mac Pro two days ago, nothing happened, no fans, no click, and no chime.
Mac Pro w/dual-core Intel Xeon, 2.66 GHz, OS X 10.7.5
What I've looked at so far:
Unplugged everything from the Mac except the monitor, keyboard and mouse
Checked that the power cord was properly inserted into the Mac and the wall outlet
Checked that the outlet was getting power by plugging another device into it
Checked for a flashing power button light - not flashing or lit
    Reseated all RAM modules
Checked diagnostic LED lights - none of the lights were illuminated and none illuminated while pressing the DIAG_LED button
Verified that we haven't installed/reconfigured any new hardware or software - we have not, since early 2014
I'm thinking that it must be the power supply but wanted to see if there were any other ideas.
    Thanks

The solution for debugging from "dead" is to remove absolutely everything: all drives, all PCIe cards, all RAM, all peripherals. The thought is that something may be dragging down the power.
A thorough SMC reset can be performed on all MacPro models by removing the AC power cord, pressing the power-on button for a quarter minute to completely discharge the power capacitors, re-installing the AC power cord, waiting a quarter minute, then pressing the power-on button. [It resets automatically after the DC power has gone completely to Zero, then returned to normal levels.]
With NO RAM DIMMs installed, the computer should power up the fans and blink the Power-on light under Processor control. If it does, the Processor and ROM and Busses are working, and adding back RAM should produce a Chime.
One other item that sometimes precludes booting is a dead PRAM Backup battery (coin cell). It sits in a delicate holder behind the graphics card slot. A new battery measure a bit over 3 Volts, measured in hand or in-circuit with the AC power cord removed. If you measure in-circuit with the AC power cord connected, you are measuring the "always-on" backup power supply, not the battery itself.

  • Which Apple computer is best for video - Final Cut Pro X, Photoshop et.  I have a 7 year old Mac Pro which will not accept FCP X.

I have an Apple Mac Pro.  It is almost 7 years old and will not accept FCP X.  I have been waiting for Apple to make a new Mac Pro, but  I don't know when that will happen.
    Any recommendations?

Do not put new money today into Mac Pro 2008 or previous. (the FBDIMM memory is too expensive).
Some say skip the 2009 model as the 2010 is better (has built-in support for hex processors) but not a lot more money.
Computers will always be better, faster, and cheaper if you wait. [A new Mac Pro may not be solid on day 1.] At some point, you have to get your work done, and just have to hold your nose and choose from what is avaiable and stable at the moment.
