When loading apps ex. Facebook it says you are not connected to Internet and everything on IPad is working.
When loading Facebook, it says not connecting to Internet and everything on IPad (CBC app), I have taken out the app and reconnected it and its still not loading. I have turn it off for a long time and still not working. Help.

Try restarting the browser or computer..
if it still doesn't work, try with a different browser like chrome or mozilla -

1)with the new version of safari 4.0.2, and the "loading" imageit is very slow, so slow that then I press any link it says you are not connected to internet. , then I reload again and it loads for the first time the page after a long time.

2)now with this version I can not see applications that runs on java. before it i could , but now it does not display , and the sun page says that for mac one has to check the apple updates, but there is no apple updates until now to complement the java problem.This could ( no, will happen if your dsl modem/router is set to give up it's connection when the mac is idle.
Many dsl modems ( in the UK, at least ) do NOT default to 'always on'.... & a setting must be changed to enable this. Even with 'always on', you will get a similar problem occasionally, but the delay will be just a few seconds.... not 30+.
Some modems can be accessed by entering 192.168.1.1 into safari - check the instructions for yours.
Also some(!) isp's don't allow always on & force a disconnection when idle. Mine does - but you can opt-out of it via their website.
I bet if you mention the make/model of your dsl gear, somebody here can tell you exactly where to find these settings. -
safari5.1.8 drops off line, but airport stays connected, but window says you are not connected to internet? then a couple minutes later it reconnects. I am on an AT&T wireless.

I Updated my wife's iPhone the other to the new operating system. It asked me first to use iCloud backup so I did. After the update was complete my wife can use wifi but when we try the 3G it says you are not connected to a cellular data service.
IT shows Bell as the provider but we seem to have lost something during this update.
can someone help me please.Check Settings>General>Cellular and make sure Cellular Data is set to On. If it is, try putting it in Airplane mode for 15 seconds, then turn Airplane mode off again. If it persists, give you carrier a call to confirm that it's properly activated with them and that your data plan is properly provisioned.

I am hard wired. Screen occasionally comes up saying "You are not connected to the Internet"
I have a new IMac desktop. It is hard wired. All the FIOS equipment has been verified and replaced. Still, every day, a few times, a screen comes up saying "You are not connected to the Internet." It seems to have experts stumped. Any advice, thoughts, experience with this? The screen stays up only a few seconds.
When this happens, if it stays up for a period of time, go to System Preferences > Network > unlock the lock lower let side bar > Advanced lower right > TCP/IP and click Renew DCHP Lease. See if that helps.

Suddently can't browse internet... "You are not connected to Internet"
It has been now 2 months that I have an issue with internet with my Macbook Pro.
I am connected to Internet and browsing internet, however suddenly and without any reason Safari/Firefox give me a message you are not connected to internet. However, MSN or YM are still working fine
It happened to me with both Airport and Ethernet connection but only with my specific provider (but only in my macbook pro, not in my pc or iphone)
When the problem occurs, I run a network diagnostic and found the following
- Pinging an address that need DNS won't work (ping www.facebook.com ==> error: host unknown)
- DNS lookup however working: lookup www.facebook.com ==> 66.220.145.10
- Pinging 66.220.145.10 is working
- any traceroute on IP numeric address is working, however when it need DNS it is not working (traceroute www.facebook.com: unknown host)
The workaround I found is to disable and enable again the interface to make it working...
Did someone have experience the issue?

thank you.I too had this sort of problem yesterday, I was unable to access Facebook with errors showing. I deleted app and then tried to reinstall but it said 'not connected to iTunes error' After browsing various suggestions to enable me to re connect to iTunes the only way was to reset network settings. Go to Settings wifi and reset network settings. The device will reboot and you will then have to input router password if required and all should be ok again. Hope this helps

Ethernet is 'connected' BUT safari says 'you are not connected'...?
Hello, I am baffled. I am helping my Mum and Dad's to set up their new iMac. All OK bar the connection to the Internet.
They have a new Broadband account with the ISP 'Talk Talk' (I know they are not necessariliy the best!). It is a DSL connection and I am using the 'Built in Ethernet' as the link to the Ethernet port of the SmartAX 882 Modem, as supplied by the ISP. In networking the Built in Ethernet is showing blue - "you are connected to the internet", Yet when I load Safari it does not connect and the page "your computer is not connected to the internet" comes up after a couple of minutes.
The modem 'link' light is steady green and the LAN light shows solid amber. I have added and saved the settings in the modem many times. The ISP support folks have said that the link light should go solid amber though this does not happen. I have rebboted and reconnected all the kit many times - still no joy.
So, any idea where the problem may be? is it the modem settings? is it the network settings?
PS: I have tried typing in the IP adress of a web page (e.g. http://17.254.70.0.91 etc..) to check whether there is a problem with DNS server settings, though no page loads.
Many thanks folks - any help on this would be appreciated.

I have no familiarity with that setup, but the problem sounds similar to some who use the wrong port on the router.

An alternative resolution to using a different router port would be to setup the Network panel of System Preferences with a LAN configuration instead of with an Ethernet configuration. After clicking on the "Assist me..." button, instead of clicking on the "Diagnostics..." button, click on the blue "Assistant..." button and then choose a LAN connection rather than ethernet. The result will be that you will end up with an entirely new "Location" rather than just another edit of your current "Location" - then to change from one "location" to another switch the "Location:" selector and hit the "Apply Now" button to avoid making unnecessary edits. Once you've switched the location and "applied" it, you'll see that your other settings are different than the ones necessary to make your original "Location" work.
