When loading Firefox 5 I receive - Type Error: Conponents.classes[cid] is undefined

When I acknowledge the error the Firefox loads. This happens with and occasional other application

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
In Firefox 4+ you can use one of these to start in [[Safe mode]]:
* Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

If not then older history has been deleted. 
Firefox 5 doesn't use a time limit to store history like previous Firefox 3 versions did.

How do I fix this problem ...javascript (cid) applications.

On both MacBooks running latest Mac OS when starting Firefox. Did not have this problem with previous versions.

That indicates that the extension is not compatible with Firefox 4. You can check with McAfee to see if they have an updated version for the Mac that works on Firefox 4.

When loading firefox i get an error message, "can't find ////jpsnotify.exe. now firefox loads but every time i go into anything else it appears. this started to happen when i downloaded a new verison of java.

i downloaded a new version of Java and i then started getting "windows can't find c:\java\jre6\lib\deploy\jqs\ff\..\..\..\bin\jqsnotify.exe. now this only happens when loading firefox. it happens through out the use of firefox when loading other programs. any suggestions?

Try the suggested idea above. I just disabled all the add-ons which were not compatible with FF 5 and did a FF restart. That fixed the problem. I then enabled each one, one at a time, with a FF restart until the problem came back. I then disabled that add-on.

This is caused by an extension. Possibly AVG or "eSnips Download Helper".

You can o a malware check with a few malware scan programs. 
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware. 
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.
