When Location Services are turned off, does Find My iPhone still count as turned on?
Let's say I use iCloud, so I turned on Find My iPhone.
But, I like to save battery, so I turn Location Services off while Find My iPhone is enabled, and I understand completely that if Lost Mode is enabled, then Location Services are turned on and enable Find My iPhone.
Scenario:
I go traveling. I lose my phone. It gets stolen. Location Services were turned off (I like to save battery). If the thief were to try to restore the phone, would he/she get a message saying "Find My iPhone is enabled. Please turn it off before restoring this iPhone."? OR, since Location Services are off, would the restore go on ahead without any confirmation?
This scenario is assuming I don't activate Lost Mode before the thief can plug the device into his/her computer and attempt a restore.
So when Location Services with Find My iPhone enabled are turned OFF, would Find My iPhone still be considered ON and therefore, give a confirmation message before any restoration?
I just want to verify that I'm still secure even when I turn off Location Services to save battery.

My car was broken into and my ipod touch was stolen. I installed the mobile me but have never had to use it. They renamed the ipod because when I sign in it says it is someone elses ipod...grrrrr!!!! They've probably restored it by now and when that happens, any email accounts/mobileme accounts that were on it are not there anymore.

What does it mean if my location services are turned on, but not working? It has always worked before. It is turned on in Settings but when I try to use an app that requires location services, it says they are not on, and the little arrow is not appearing at the top of the screen.
thank you...I tried this immediately after noticing but to no avail. I thought the phone died but I kept seeing the light on so I googled some things and it says it may be watered damaged and I'm not sure how.

- If you previously turned on the FIndMyiPod feature and location service is on, and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud, sign in, and go to FindMyiPhone. It the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- Report to police and change the passwords fro all accounts used on the iPod.
- Apple will not help

I'm using the "Find my IPhone" app on my iPad and it can't even locate the iPad I'm using, not to mention the iPhone I'm looking for. They are both listed as devises, it just says they're both offline, which I know is wrong. I'm on a WiFi network and location services are turned on. Ideas?

My phone is lost – not stolen, and may still be returned. Not long after I lost it, it was switched off, or died (it was at about 6%), so I can't find it using Find My iPhone. I realized I should change all my important passwords, as the passcode can be compromised by various methods. One password I changed was for my Apple account.
Now I'm realizing that I shouldn't have done that. What if the phone comes back online – but my AppleID password has changed; will the phone still be able to connect to Apple with the old credentials so my message is sent?
When I realized this I tried to go back to my old password – but Apple won't let me use one I used in the last year. Any way around this?when you change your Apple iD it's pretty much changing the visual email, i guess that doesn't really answer your question, yes you keep your purchases, it just changes the log-in email and email where newsletters , etc. go to.

Facebook's location services are off..?!
Ok I just updated my iPhone 4S and all of the sudden Facebook's "location services are turned off". It tells me to fix it in the settings but I can't find anything about locations... HELP PLEASE?!
Go to Settings>Privacy>Location Services. Here you can control if Location Services are turned on or off, and you can control individual apps' ability to use Location Services. You can also enable/disable Find my iPhone. Hope this helps!

In find my iphone via icloud on my mac, it can find the phone but cant find the ipad. all settings appear to be using the correct apple ID and all location services are turned on - what gives? also, how can I add devices to be found. I would like to have my wife's phone and ipad findable as well
yes to both. Odd thing is I think it used to work, but not now. the light shows green (online?) but can't determine a location. location services are on for it though

i have 1 friend working great, but cannot add another, following me, because they cannot find my location. I checked the help guide ... Everything checks, but i cannot change my location settings because it is grayed out, but it is on.

Also, in privacy>location services>share my location (just below it) is grayed out, yet at the bottom of page>system services>share my location is accessible, but off, and every time I turn it on it turns back off in a second, or 2Edit

If you're wanting to know if you can locate your iPad though iCloud, without Find my device enabled and without power, you won't be able to locate it.

I have forgotten to turn off the FIND MY iPhone appplication before i reset up the phone, Now it's asking me to verify with apple or icloud ID but when i entered the same ID which was registered with itune & icloud, It says INCORRECT. It's been already 03 days, I am asking help with apple care centre, UAE, Head qurter, UK, USA but they are just sending me a link to reset up which still doesn't work. I m not receiving any authentication email even it says that email has been sent, & trtied to verify my birth date & all then it says

After all, I am just putting the same id & password, It says INCORRECT.

Is there any way to set password to protect the location service, to keep GPS open? so, the theft cannot turn it off so easy, because once the location service is turn off, all GPS track is useless...
That is what Activation Lock of iOS 7 does
In addition, it renders the iPhone totally useless to anyone who doesn't know your Apple ID and password.
