When Lync phone device do not sign-in...

When you have pure Lync common area phone - using LAN not USB - its sign-in fails to the "Internal error". On the IIS's logs I can see the following lines:
2013-11-14 01:08:41 10.19.71.47 POST /WebTicket/WebTicketService.svc/mex - 443 - 10.11.12.13 OCPhone/4.0.7577.4372+(Microsoft+Lync+Phone+Edition) 200 0 0 56

Do you have a good idea from where to look this 500 HTTP error?

Hi,
Have you checked the phone received a valid DHCP lease on the network after running cmdlets?
Please check SRV records as Lync phone cannot utilize manual configuration.
Make sure the sign in user has been Enterprise Voice enabled.
Please double check the steps configuring common area phone:

  • Lync phone edition does not try to sign in after the front end server restarts

A restart of the frontend server. None of our Lync Phone Edition CX600 and CX3000 phones will sign back in. If you hit the cancel button and click it will work. This was fixed in a previous CU update but seems to be back again. CX version 4.0.7577.4451.
Any ideas to try. Cant always restart our switches.

    Hi,
Please install the update KB3014910 in the link below:
    http://support.microsoft.com/en-hk/kb/3014910
The Update resolves the issue: Lync Phone Edition cannot automatically sign in when the primary front-end server that you register is shut down.
If the issue persists, please also try to reset the IP phone and test again.

    Finally can't catch the problem.
    RFT

OK, that is very telling as USB tethering has very few requirements and in most environments works rought out of the box.
Here the main things to check:
Is the Lync User's Telephony setting set to Enterprise Voice?  This is a requirement to use Lync Phone Edition (the
Line URI does not need to be populated).
Time Server issues can also prevent sign-in.  If a Time Server is not provided via DHCP or DNS SRV then the phone will fallback to connecting to
time.windows.com, so if the phone does not have Internet access or NTP traffic is blocked at a firewall, then this could be your problem as well.
Obvious, but worth pointing out: make sure the phone is connected to Ethernet and receiving a basic DHCP lease (IP, subnet, gateway, DNS, etc).  USB tethering does not work unless the device is also connected to Ethernet.
Follow the steps in this article to at least get USB tethering working

Then you can move on to PIN authentication:

  • I message won't activate on I phone. "Could not sign in.Please check your network connection and try again

I have used iMessage on both my iPad and iPhone for successfully, using the same Apple ID. However since I upgraded to IOS 7.0 .4 on my iPhone recently, it has turned off iMessage. When I try to turn it back on again and login with my Apple ID, The message "could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again" appears. I have tried again numerous times. I have tried switching off iMessage on my iPad as well then try and switch on them both back on my iPad works but my iPhone does not. Can anyone help

    -Deactivate iMessage on your iPhone
    - Reset phone by holding both Home and Sleep buttons for about 10 seconds until Apple logo appears.
    - If you have wifi where you are, temporarily disable it.
    - Activate iMessage.
    Tell us what happens next.

  • Message: "phone device is not connected" cannot sync calendar

I have been trying to sync my new iphone. Seems succesful except for my ical. I keep getting several messages:
cannot be synced because a) the device is not connected (believe me it is!!!) or b) the required disc cannot be found c) your iphone disconnected
Any ideas on what to do?

    Try:
    1) unplugging the USB/iPhone cord, hub from your mac.
    2) Run Disk Utilities and Repair disk permissions on your mac.
    3) Restart the mac. Plug the USB 2.0 cable/dock to iPhone, try again.
If this doesn't work, try Resetting the iPhone. If all of this doesn't help, try RESTORING the iPhone software via iTunes.
    good luck!

  • Lync 2013 Android will not sign in

I deployed a test Lync 2013 environment on 3 Windows 2012 R2 boxes. I have one standard server, a reserves proxy and my edge server. I have able to access my Lync environment outside my network so my edge server is working correctly. I have created certifications
using an my Active Directory Certification manger and have installed the CA on the 3 servers and also on my Android device. When I sign into the client it says "Lync is attempting to redirect you to" and lists the certification from my proxy server
so I click continue and than the screen sits on the signing in screen and just spins. I am not sure what is causing this problem or how to fix it.

    Hi,
Please double check the IIS ARR setting with the help of the link below (especially for the part of Proxy and URL Rewrite):
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/nexthop/archive/2013/02/19/using-iis-arr-as-a-reverse-proxy-for-lync-server-2013.aspx
Also, please double check if you set Hair Pining where the Lync external web services URL in internal DNS resolve into the external interface of the reverse Proxy.
You can refer to the following link to configure the Mobile DNS records:

  • Is it possible to disable Exchange integration on Lync Phone when not tethered?

    Hi all,
I know there are many other threads about this issue, but my question is a bit different.
As we know, Lync phone edition gives the following message when not tethered to USB
"connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable because you signed in directly on the phone"
A customer of mine has lots of devices logged in by pin instead of USB tethering and end-users keep asking questions about this.
Is it possible to to suppress this message with some kind of client policy ?
    Regards,
Stefan van der Heijden - Advantive

No, not really.  I can't take you up on your advice and use delegates.  The use case excludes PC all together - there is no computer nearby to be used.  In my case they need to make and receive phone calls, be able to transfer calls, and have
a voice mail feature.  Lync Edition device does not accommodate this use case well.  Here are the issues so far.
    1. You can't transfer calls unless phone is unlocked.  There is a way to change that trough policy, but the phone lock policy works on per site basis.  On a small deployment like ours with a single site this means phone lock for everyone or no
    one.
    2. Phone shows error about "Exchange integration" as we discussed above.  Due to interface design choices this means that "menu" button is obscured form view.  That makes it impossible for uninformed user to transfer a call.
Here is the bottom line the way I see it: the Lync Edition Phone is great for an office (cubical farm) environment, but when time comes to deal with special use cases the assumptions Lync/Exchange team made backfire.  I'd have to go to Lync Server compatible
phone like Polycom VVX to get around phone lock issue.  In Polycom world that is configurable on per phone basis, as, one would argue, it should be.  Polycom have bugs of their own though - you can't make "blind transfer" a default method of transfer.
So, no good solution so far.

  • Random Lync Phone Edition Disconnections - Sometimes does not sign back in

We recently had a user who reported that his Lync Phone (Polycom CX600) was signed out when he came in first thing in the morning and it was sitting at a sign-in error page.  The phone then was having problems signing in.  We had to factory reset
the phone is order for it to get reconnected.
After the user complained once again about a week later that he found he phone signed out, I had the local tech take a look at the phone.  She tells me it was then signed in.  Now i'm baffled.  The phone was signed out earlier but then decided
to sign itself back in and was working just fine.  One thing else to note, we replaced the phone with a brand new one and still had the same issues.
I checked the DBAnalyze logs with snooper and found several errors that concerned me.  Here is one of the errors I found:

The part that concerns me is the "ABNORMAL SIGNOUT" message.  I found that this is happening to quite a few users around the company and quite frequently.  Has anyone else seen this issue before and if so, any clue as to what an abnormal

  • What to do when itunes is not signed by a valid security certificate?

Ok So my I got my niece an iPod touch and she went to the apple web site to download I tunes on her netbook and when she tries it said "not signed be a valid security certificate. I dont know what to do to help her. I've never had this problem so I have no idea where to go with it. I need some help.

    Hello Diana,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with installing the latest version of iTunes.  I recommend following the steps below:
    Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
I understand that you have already uninstalled iTunes, but when you get to this step, it is important to uninstall iTunes and the related components in the order listed in the link for that step.  You can find the full article here:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
I recommend the following article if you continue to receive an error:

  • Lync Phone Edition - Registrar FQDN cannot be found

    Hi,
I have finally got Lync phone edition devices into a separate VLAN.  All working ok, except when logging in they pause for about 5-10 seconds with error "Registrar FQDN cannot be found".  They then sign in and work perfectly.  Option
120 is setup on DHCP and was working fine when they were in the same VLAN as the server.  I am using an IP Helper to allow the phones to get their DHCP settings for our DHCP server.
Our Lync Servers (FE and Edge Internal interface) are in VLAN 10 with subnet 192.168.10.0/24.
Our DHCP is yet to be moved into our server VLAN and is currently in VLAN 0 10.81.108.0/22.
Our Lync Phone devices are in VLAN 20 192.168.20.0/24.
When I run DHCPUtil.exe -emulateclient on another computer in the 10.81.108.0/22 subnet, I get the following result:
    Result: Success
    DHCP Server : 10.81.108.11
    SIP Server FQDN :
    Certificate Provisioning Service URL :
    https://SR-LC-01.OPG.INTERNAL:443/CertProv/CertProvisioningService.svc
It doesn't appear to be receiving the option 120 information from our DHCP server.  But this is setup as follows:
The other DHCP options required for the phones are being pulled down successfully, but this one appears to be failing.  Please help!
    Many Thanks,
    Andrew

I have had a similar issue in the past and it turned out to be the IP Helper, managed to narrow it down by running DHCPUtil in the same VLAN as the phones. Then tried a phone in the same VLAN as the servers.  That isolated it for me before.
