When my iPad is connected via USB it won't appear on my computer
When I connect my iPad to any computer it will not sync or even show up it still shows the battery icon
It won't show up in My Computer unless you have photos on it that were taken with it, transferred to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc - in which case it will be treated as a camera so that you have the option of copying those photos off.

Then I made some more tests:
I have tried to connect three diferent types (Ipad usb cable; TI-Nspire CX CAS usb cable and an ordinary extension usb cable) of usb connectors cables and all of them with the same behaviour.
Viewing the IMAC from backside and looking to the usb ports from the left to the rigth the behaviour of the USB ports are diferent.
the two first more to the left when we try to connect a USB cable, a message appears on the screen, sayng that USB devices are consuming to much energy and due to this the USB port were deactivated (This is more or less the translation from Portuguese language).
The ones more to the rigth nothing happens, simply are dead, no message and no charge the IPAD, no connect the USB stick.
I really need yuor support, this IMAC is from November 2012. -

I've seen older threads on this issue but I don't think I've really come across any solutions. My issue started yesterday; now before reading further I have to ask that you please keep in mind that I did perform the latest upgrade on my iPhone a bit earlier in the day.
When I connect my iPhone to my vehicle sync system and announce that I'd like to connect via USB, the voice recognition repeats my request and then the music on my iPhone shows to be playing on the display in my vehicle. The problem is that though the music appears to be playing and the minutes played are being displayed there is no audio coming through. When I switch to the Bluetooth Audio option all sound comes through.
Now, as a 2nd test, we connected my sons iPhone 5s via USB (he has not taken the latest update on his iPhone) and the same issue happens with his. Voice recognition changes to the USB format as requested, music appears to be playing but no audio is heard. When we change his phone to Bluetooth Audio the audio comes through nice and clear.
I'm not entirely convinced the update caused the issue so I wanted to put this out there to see if anyone has run into this and were able to actually resolve the issue.
I know the USB cable is working fine because when I do plug it into either phone the phone makes the little connection sound and pops up a brief battery percentage box. I also know the cable is working because when we announce USB as our audio of choice the system recognize USB via the iPhone.
One other thing I tried looking for was the option on the phone to switch from Docked to Synch - I know on my iPhone 4 I was able to switch back and forth through iTunes and would also have the option if I tried to watch anything via You Tube when connected to the dock; I cannot find this anywhere on the 5s when connected via USB.
Help is greatly appreciated!!!I have had similar troubles with wifi.. some improvement removing BlackBerry desktop software & drivers & reinstalling after reboot... I used the same installer I had previously, but a fresh downloaded installer couldn't hurt...

Just open your LG volume up likes its an external HD and drag all photos onto a folder in your macbook Air.

iphone 4S - Windows Vista - 64 Bit (and photoshop elements 9.0) is not recognizing my iphone as a camera - therefore I cannot download pictures from my iphone. iTunes works fine with the iPhone, but I do not see it in "My Computer" when connected via USB. I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes....still nothing. Any ideas?

Hi all. Update my iphone 4S via usb last night. Since then the iphone is not visible in itunes for wireless syncing. The sync wirelessly box is checked and is viewable as checked when phone connected via usb. Anyone else have this problem and been able to sort? Thanks. Doug

I need to use an Ipad 2 running 5.1.1 without the use of ANY wireless data transfer, this means no bluetooth - 3g or Wi-Fi. I am aware of creating Wi-Fi hotspots, but there is absolutely no wi-fi option possible. Is this possible? If anyone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry but no, there is no way to use your computer's network connection via USB. If you cannot set up a WiFi network, either via a WiFi access point or through your computer, and cannot use 3G, there's no way I can think of that you will be able to get your iPad onto the Internet.
You can, of course, sync apps, media, documents, mail messages, address book contacts, etc. from your computer to your iPad via the USB cable.

Can't see mounted volume of my Canon G9 when camera is connected via USB
Why can't I see mounted volume of my Canon G9 (with 8GB SD card) when camera is connected via USB. I just want to be able to download the movie files. Aperture does this fine on my other Mac but on my MBP I use Lightroom and it does not automatically download additional files a la Aperture.
Also can't read via Kensington Multi-SD reader but suspect that's because it is a little older and does not support the higher capacity SD cardsDigital cameras have several modes in which they can connect to a computer.
One mode is sometimes called "Mass Store". The camera acts like a USB disk or thumb drive. It appears in the Finder and files can be copied from it. This obviously is what you are looking for.
Another common mode is called PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol). In this mode, the camera will not appear in the Finder. You use special software to select and transfer the images. There are many applications available to do this: iPhoto, Aperture, Image Capture, the software provided by the camera's manufacturer.
Consult your camera's manual to see if you can select the mode. My Nikon cameras can be set to either of the modes I mentioned. I think I have heard that Canon supports PTP only. I don't have a Canon, so I can't verify this. In that case you could use Image Capture, or Canon's software, or use a card reader. Card readers are usually faster than the camera anyway. -
Why won't my laptop recognize my iPod nano second generation when I plug it in via USB? It does recognize my ipad mini. I was hoping to transfer music from my iPod to my ipad mini
1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
3. Check the USB cable
4. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
6. You can use some third party software like this iPod file transfer, it can help you copy files from iPod to computer, and then you can use iTunes to sync the music to your iPad mini.
7. Check for third-party software conflicts. -

Hi! My iMac 27" isn't going in sleepmode, when an iOS-device is connected via usb for charging. "HandleUSBMuxDictionary client 0x101803420-iTunes/com.apple.iTunes using library usbmuxd-211 built on Jan 13 2011 at 04:19:31, running usbmuxd-211 built on Jan 13 2011 at 04:20:21" is the entry that shows up in console.
Does anybody know, what that means and what I can do to get my sleepmode back?

It would be a way to use a charger instead of the iMac (I already do so), but then I have to go two ways, one for syncing and one for charging. I don't think, that this was Apples intention. The ease of use is "a part" of their products and going these two ways instead of one can't be something Apple wants.
So I hope, that either there is another way or there will be an update for iTunes to fix this.

I have tried a different USB to no avail. Both cables work on my old Dell so I don't believe they are the issue.
I uninstalled iTunes as directed by Apple Support and reinstalled. Apparently, Apple Mobile Device Support is not loading with it because it does not show up in programs. -
I have an imac i5 and have about 50 floppy disks I would love to read. I found a Sony 2x fdd floppy that connects via usb. When I connect it, nothing happens. The drive does not show on my monitor. Any suggestions or my I just out of luck?
