Hi, everyone. I had a quick question. When I receive my iPhone 4S in the mail on Friday, will I be able to power it on right away, or will I have to immediately to charge? I heard that you have to charge it right away so your battery life will last longer

As mentioned, Li cells do NOT suffer from the "memory effect" of older battery technologies. So, Lithium batteries can be charged and discharged as needed, including only partially charging or partially discharging as be. In fact, partial discharge/charge cycles will age a lithium battery more slowly than deep cycles will. So, other than occasionally deep cycling it to re-calibrate the battery charge indicator icon, you are far better off avoiding deep cycles.
Basically, plug it in whenever it is convenient to do so (and regardless of charge state). That way, it is always well charged when you do need it to be.

Well, originally, it said October 5th, but it also said that it would ship on the 28th, but it updated its status to "Shipped" today. When I tracked it, it is in China.

Actually I ordered my 16GB Gold phone on line @ 12:10 AM Friday morning and received it the following Monday.
I should note that I ordered it from the ATT.com website. I had 2 computer up, one on Apple and the other on ATT. At midnight, boths changed to "waiting". At 12:10AM, ATT's site popped up and I ordered the phone. Shortly thereafter I received a message stating my phone would arrive between Oct 21st to Oct 30th. The next day (Saturday) I received a message that my phone had shipped from Ft Worth.
Apple's website never did popup (at least by the time I finished my business on the ATT website).

It is really annoying as sometimes the phone doesn't respond to attempts to end the call before it connects to the number. I then have to explain that it was my phone and not me, I look like an idiot, which I don't really need any extra help with!! Does anyone have any ideas? I don't want to stop missed call from showing in the locked screen but it might be associated with the failed calls and therefore be the only resolution

I have had the same issue which was driving me mad but think I have just found a way around it. In iOS 7 if you swipe up on the lock screen to access quick settings and go into timer then click the home button you get into the phone without calling the person back. Not a great 'fix' but hope it works for you. Come on Apple this isn't good enough, fix this bug otherwise you will lose your customers.

Once again, the Find My iPhone app has no effect on this.
Find My iPhone must be enabled with your iCloud account settings on the iPhone.
Location Services must be enabled.
The iPhone must be connected to the internet via an available wi-fi network or via the carrier's cellular network.
If the iPhone is powered off, none of the Find My iPhone features can work, and the same if the thief or whoever has access to the iPhone has restored the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone on another computer.

You can use that app without iCloud and you don't need a new iPhone.

Itunes 12.1.2 freezes when detecting iPhone in windows 7

Hello!
I've just reformatted my laptop and installed windows 7 home.
did all the windows update, downloaded the latest iTunes 12.1.2 from Apple site.
installed successfully. and is able to launch and play music. i've added in only one song to the library to just test.
Here's the problem i'm facing now.
- iTunes freezes if i tried to going to preferences via Edit > Preferences.
- iTunes freezes when my iPhone 6 (iOS 8.1) is plugged in. the iPhone appears under my computer, but iTunes is unable to detect/freezes.
tried these methods
- iTunes: May become unresponsive when connecting iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
- re-installing iTunes multiple times, restarted my iPhone multiple times
- running iTunes on safe mode, but i doubt this will make any difference since there are no plugins installed.
- phone does not have any podcasts/videos
- tried running iTunes in compatibility mode
- cable used is original apple cable
- created another windows user account, same problem persist.
- tried all 3 USB ports
- uninstalling apple device drivers and installing
- tried to revert back to iTunes 11.4 or older iTunes 12 version, but encounter installation errors with Apple Mobile Device.
findings
- iTunes 12.1.2 is able to detect my phone on windows8.1 (office machine)
- able to access iPhone under my computer to retrieve images/videos
- able to charge iPhone via USB
- running iTunes diagnosis states that iTunes is unable to detect any iPod/iPhone/iPad when my iPhone 6 is plugged in
- using iTunes with iPhone had been no issue before the windows re-installation with iTunes 11.4 (if i never remembered the version wrongly, it's the red icon iTunes)
- Apple mobile device is working fine when i've checked under services.
- Under device manager, the apple mobile device is shown up in the USB list
would be grateful for any help! been trying to get this fixed to do a backup and sync my other stuffs.
