When NIKON D7200 NEF  (RAW) will be supported

I have just bought new Nikon d7200 camera.
When I' realised that it is not supported in Lightroom 5.7 I was very disappointed.
I'm just asking when Nikon D7200 NEF will be supported.

  • RC 8.6 Issues with Nikon D810 NEF RAW files

RC 8.6 does not correctly process Nikon D810 NEF RAW files. See the following blog article for some details:
Nikon D810 vs D800E ISO Comparison

This is very helpful. My current workflow, until ACR 8.6 and LR fully support the Nikon D810, are to use the DNG converter and import the resulting D810 DNG files into my LR catalog.
I have not yet tried this (traveling right now), but I assume I can still make a custom profile using the X-Rite ColorChecker Passport and it's associated software for my D810 using the RC 8.6 DNG files. This is my normal workflow for all of my other cameras in LR, but the process is direct from native RAW and not DNG (to produce the custom profile).

Until Lightroom gets D810 support, you will need to use the ACR plugin in order to see the profiles. The DNG Converter always uses Adobe Standard, and embeds it into the DNG. Lightroom 5.5 doesn't have the D810 profiles.

  • Nikon D600 NEF/RAW files/DNG 8.4 still cannot read

Hi all, I just tried installing several versions of the DNG plug in for CS6 and it still cannot read the Nikon D600 NEF/RAW files on a 2014 MacBook Pro.  Any suggestions?  I have searched previous questions, but cannot find one on this very topic.  Cheers, Paul.

What version of Photoshop do you have installed. If you have CS6 make sure you use CS6 menu Help>Updates. To make sure you have the latest updates.  If you have CS6 preternatural you should see version 13.0.6 when you use menu Help>About Photoshop if you hace a Creative cloud subscription you should see version 13.1.2 using menu Help>About Photoshop.
If ACR 8.6 is installed correctly it installs in a common place that is used by both Bridge CS6 and Photoshop CS6.
When you open a RAW file in Phoroshop or in ACR from the Bridge the ACR dialog should open and in its title bar you should see version 8.6.   You should not need to create DNG RAW file for your  NEF RAW files just to used ACR.  You only need to do that if your using an older Photoshop version and an older ACR. version that does not support your Nikon Camera NEF RAW format.
If you have CS6 and the ACR title bar does not show 8.6 you do not have all the CS6 updates installed.  If menu Help>Updates doe not install ACR 8.6 try downloading it manually from the CC updates site and see if the manual update works All the Adobe CC Updates: The Direct Download Links for Mac OS | ProDesignTools

  • Why CS6 cann't open Nikon D800E NEF raw file?

Why CS6 cann't open Nikon D800E NEF raw file?

The Nikon D800 was supported from ACR version 6.7 / 7.1. But CS6 shipped with 7.0, so if you've never updated ACR (or reinstalled from disc), they won't open.
Other than that - have you used an older version of Nikon Transfer or View NX? These will corrupt the NEF header so that ACR can't read them.
    There's a fix here: http://owl.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/fix_corrupted_nef.html

  • Nikon D7200 Camera Raw Data plug-in..

Just bought Nikon D7200 yesterday and now find out that my Elements 12 software will not process my images because the Raw Data profile for the D7200 is not in the files...Anyone else hear of this or know how to get the plug-in update ?

We are just users like yourself, and have no insight as to what Adobe's plans are. It is likely that there will be an update that will include the D7200. It will be supported at some point. But it will be necessary to see how Camera Raw and updates transpire to know whether or not there will be an update for Photoshop Elements 13 that will support the camera..
Anyone who knows the answer is restricted by nondisclosure agreements. So it really is simply a wait and see situation.

  • D90 NEF (RAW) files not supported in Preview in Leopard 10.5.5

Nikon D90 NEF (RAW) files are not displaying in Finder. There is an updater for iPhoto 08 and Aperture 2 that supports these files: Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.3, but it won't install if you don't have these applications.
Anyway to install the update so that it works for Leopard?
My workflow is Finder/Automator/Preview/Lightroom, so Preview support is important to me - it seems strange that the updater doesn't install it.

    Hi Gordon Waddell;
So you want a patch for iPhoto 06 that does the same as the patch for iPhoto 08. IMHO you should hold your breath for it because I don't see much chance of that happening.
I suggest you upgrade your iPhoto or get Aperture.

  • How to open Nikon D610 NEF (RAW) in iPhoto 11 on Mac Os 10.6

Is there a way to open Nikon D610 NEF (RAW) in iPhoto 11 on Mac Os 10.6 ?
    Thank you.

The RAW support for the Camera is built on Mt. Lion,  see:
OS X Mountain Lion: Supported digital camera RAW formats  - Apple Support
and requires *Aperture version 3.4.5 or later, or iPhoto version 9.4.3 or later.  You'll need at least to upgrade to Lion, to be able to run these versions of iPhoto or Aperture.
How about installing a newer MacOS X version on a separate disk? This way you can keep Rosetta, but upgrade your photo library to a newer MacoS X version?

It's not a "wrong" error message - it's true, as far as it goes, and it's completely unrealistic to expect error messages to be fully diagnostic - they're a starting point.
    Not wrong?
Let us have a look at the error message:
"The following files were not imported because they could not be read"
This clearly gives the user the impression that there is a reading error where you want to copy the files from. Is that the actual error?
No, the actual error is that the file could not be written at the destination.
It is possible that it is not factually wrong because Lightroom first make a failed copying attempt without giving an error message, then still assumes that the files have been copied and tries to import them, and THEN makes a failed import attempt from the destination and gives the error message. But that would never be anyone's first guess when they experience that error message.
A much better error message would be: "The following files were not imported because they could not be copied to the destination folder."

  • Elements 9 and Nikon D7100 NEF (RAW) problem

I'm running elements 9 and have upgraded to a Nikon D7100 when I try and open a NEF (RAW) file it gives me an error message saying file type not recognised. This used to work fine with my D90, does this mean elements 9 will not support a Nikon D7100

Unfortunately your software pre-dates the camera. You may need to consider buying PSE13. But it is possible to download and install the free DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.7.1
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.7.1
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Nikon D70 (NEF/RAW), camera adapter and Aperture?

I know that the camera adapter supports NEF (RAW) files, and although can't display them, can move them over to a computer.
So, let's say I have a 60 gig video ipod with a few hundred RAW files that I connect to my G5 after getting back from a trip. Will it trigger my default photo importing app (currently Aperture) when I plug it in? Or is it integrated with iTunes + iPhoto somehow?
    Thanks.

    I'm afraid I can't answer your question.
However, I myself have a Nikon D70 and I'm currently thinking about getting a 5G 60GB iPod (just because my 4G 40 GB isn't supported) and a camera connector in order to store my holiday photos on the iPod. I also prefer to store my pictures in the Nikon "NEF" format. Did you already successful try whether one can really store the NEF files on the 5G iPod?
Please drop me a line on that. I would appreciate that very much!

  • Nikon D3000 - NEF.Raw

    Hello,
I recently took a bunch of pictures on a Nikon D3000 in NEF.Raw formatting. I have upgraded to the newest version of iPhoto to download them to my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.5.8) as it was not working on my previous version. That upgrade did not help. I still cannot get the pictures onto the MacBook.
Upon clicking import all I get an Unreadable Files pop-up.
    Unreadable Files: 296
The following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file type or the files may not contain valid data.)
    Can someone please help?
    Thank you

Still waiting for support on the D300s...
In the meantime, I'd recommend holding on to your NEFs (until support is added).
You should be able to "process" the NEFs (i.e. convert them into JPGs) in the camera. You may have to do this one-by-one, but here are rough instructions. (Note that I don't have a D3000, so I'm guessing on the wording based on the commands in the D80 and D300s, but hopefully this helps.)
    - Make sure the NEFs are still on the camera's memory card. If you deleted them when you moved the files to your computer, move 'em back to the card (in the DCIM) folder.
    - Press the "Play" button to bring up a picture in on the camera's LCD. Press MENU and scroll down to the "Retouch" menu (with an icon that looks like a little paintbrush).
    - Choose "NEF (raw) processing" and then set your file type (i.e. JPEG size and quality level), then hit OK.
    - The camera will "think" for a few seconds, and then a JPG version of the file will be added to your memory card alongside the NEFs.
    - Repeat over and over...
    Good luck,
    Mike

  • How do I set up Premiere Elements 12 to open Nikon D810 NEF, RAW files?

I'm running a Windows 8.1 computer with Premiere Elements 12.  New Nikon D810 RAW files will not open in program.  Is there a plug-in or other fix for this?

    gsorozan
You cannot import Nikon D810 nef files into Premiere Elements 12. For that you need to have Camera Raw at least 8.6 which is supported by Premiere Elements 13. So, if you want to import Nikon D810 nef files into Premiere Elements, you need Premiere Elements 13.
However, if you convert your Nikon D810 nef files into dng files with the DNG 8.6 converter, you can import those dng files into your Premiere Elements 12.

  • I can't open Nikon D800.nef (raw) files in my Photoshop CS6 (64 bit), however, I can open .jpg files

I just purchased and installed Photoshop CS6 (64 bit) to use with my Nikon D800.  However, I can't open the .nef (raw) files but the .jpg files from the same camera will open.  What do I need to do to open .nef files from the D800?

Hello! By default, Photoshop CS6 cannot open the NEF from a D800, you need to have at least Camera Raw 7.1, as explained in this document: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
Go to the Help menu, and select "updates" and you'll launch the Adobe Updater that should suggest to install Camera Raw 7.2 that supports the D800, and many other cameras.
