When opening a .mov file I am asked for mediapass for windows media player

What is that and is there something for mac that will open the file. I have already downloaded flip4mac which I thought would handle this.
Thanks for your help,
Bryan

I wonder if this is a new format and why anyone would use it at all if you can't view the movies on mac. I had done some google searching for the topic and all I could come up with was that mediapass is also some kind of spyware that seems difficult to get rid of so maybe its for the best that I can't open it anyway.

When I click on "Find Album Info" in Windows Media Player, it finds the correct media info. But when I click "Finish" after verifying everything is correct, it says "An error has occurred on this script page" and asks if I want to continue. I click
yes, it goes back to the last page of finding album info, I again click "Finish" to find the same "Script error" page?

Sir, that means the Windows Firewall Blocked the Script So try these steps hope it works for you :
1.) - Open the "Start Menu".
2.) - Go to the "Control Panel".
3.) - Double click "Security Center".
4.) - Click "Windows Firewall" in the top left.
    5.) - Click "Change settings".
    6.) - Click "Continue".
7.) - Click the "Exceptions" tab.
8.) - Scroll down and check all of the "Windows Media Player" options.

  • WVC80N - AVI recorded files cannot be viewed in Quicktime or Windows Media Player

I have tried on two seperate PCs and the AVI files will not load. I have inspected the AVI files to be ISO MPEG-4 Video V1 standard and therefore should be able to be played by Windows Media Player and Quicktime but they both complain they cannot be played. Anyone else ran into this? I should have the specific codecs by default. The error message from quicktime is that there is required software needed to play this file and I get redirected to a generic page of possible plug ins. Windows Media player gives me a generic error with a link to some random troubleshooting steps that dont apply.
As a side note Nero Showtime can open the file and play it...

To Download VLC Software, Go to http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ and download and Install the VLC Media Player on your computer. Once the Installation is completed then you will be able to play the Video Files using VLC Player.

  • ITunes Store files don't work with Realplayer or Windows Media Player

I tried posting a question but it did not allow me so I am going to try posting it here. I need some help but not sure where to go to post the questions or what e-mail address I can use to e-mail the appropiate place to get help so if you can help me out that would be great.
Problem 1. I won a ITunes gift card recently and set up a account and downloaded some music. Now the I just learned the file type cannot be played through Realplayer or Windows Media Player that are on my desktop nor can the tracks be put on to my MP3 player. I have deauthorized my computer and still no luck. Can anyone tell me if there is anything I can do so I can do what I mentioned above? If so what?
Problem 2 - If there is no way to covert the music who do I get contact and how to go about getting a refund for the tracks purchased.
Problem 3 - Sorta linked with #2 Once I get my refund applied to my account is there away for me to cancel my account and or transfer it to a person that does have a IPOD or is able to play Itumes files on their desktop?
    Thanxs in advance.

  • Emailing song to open with Windows Media Player

Does anyone know how to send a song from iTunes to someone as an email attachment that will be in a format Windows Media Player can open?
When I copy a song it always comes out as a Real Player file. I want it as a Windows Media Player appropriate file.

You're not going to be able to convert a m4a (which can be played in iTunes OR real player) file like that on the fly. Especially if it's a protected file that was purchased from the iTunes Store. If it wasn't purchased from the iTunes Store, you can find a converter program that will convert the files to WMA. Just google it -- I am sure they exist. From there, you can email it as a WMA.
Or, you could convert the song (if it's not protected) into an mp3 file within iTunes. The mp3 file could be email and opened within Windows Media player.

Sorry, I see that there is a Studio version that allows conversion to wmv - I only had the free basic version for Flip4Mac - should have looked more closely at the website!

  • Transfer Nokia Media file to Windows Media player

Hi, i am giving a lecture and the took the footage i need to show on my 6220, the problem is my system at work doen't support nokia media player and i am not able to load it. How can i transfer the nokia media file into something i can view on windows media player?

Windows Media Player doesn't support MP4 files at all.
You can buy a Codec pack to enable this support. Visit Windpows Media Player pages.
    OR
You can covert the files to play them in Windows Media Player.
If you want to convert the files. There are thousands of encoders you can buy or that are free, I've stopped making recommendations because people think that I get money for making them.
So just google VIDEO encoder, and you will find a TON of them.

I'm running snow leopard. The try to open any .mov file in Quicktime, and I get an error message that says, "The document xyz.mov could not be opened. The movie is not in a format that Quicktime player understands. I'm a recent upgrade to Snow Leopard.
    Help!
    Thanks, Mark

Unfortunately, the error message gives no details about what codec might be missing or what it needs.
If the file can't be opened in QT, it only means you cannot use the QT "Inspector" window to check what compression formats were used to create the file. It does not mean you can't use the Finder "Information" window to check on the compression formats or use a third party media information window (e.g., like VLC which will open many compression formats not supported natively by QT) to determine what kind of data is included in the MOV wrapper. If the file cannot be opened in any app, it is usually a good sign that the file itself is corrupted.
It's a stupid error message. Apple should do better than that.
Error trapping is quite extensive but there are still many areas which require human oversight. The message is telling you that either the container has a problem (e.g., not properly terminated, non-standard, or corrupted) or that one or more of the compression formats used is not supported by your current codec component configuration or that the data was encoded using non-standard settings or preferences not supported by QT or that the fourCC code does not match the data contained in the file or that there are timecode inconsistencies, etc., etc., etc. In short there are a near infinite number of possible problems for which it would be very difficult/nearly impossible to program error trapping depending on your sourcing of content and how you process it before it reaches the player app. Think of it like trying to play a BD disc in an DVD player.
I'll call Apple support when I get a chance.
Chances are good that they will end up sending you back here. In any case, it is often a good idea to post a sample file for examination by other QT users. At the very least, they should be able to tell you if the sample file will play on other systems which would indicate whether or not the file itself is bad and under the best of circumstances whould allow them to examing the file in detail for various common problems.

  • Opening a .mov file on a Mac across a Windows network causes hang

QuickTime player hangs when I try to open a .mov file on a networked Mac OSX machine from my Windows XP machine. This happens 80-90% of the time; that is, not every time, but most of the time.
I've tried this from 2-3 different machines, and get the same result.
Interesting thing is that, if I'm viewing the directory that the .mov file comes from in Windows Explorer, Windows Explorer also hangs - so it looks like something bad in going on in the Windows networking layer.
File opens fine when I open it locally or on another Windows machine on the network.
We're actually accessing the QT SDK from an app we're developing. We first noticed this behavior in our app, and decided to see if we could repro the problem in QT player. Sure enough, we could.
Is there somewhere else I can log this message so that it will come to the attention of the SDK group? This a major problem for our app that I need to resolve one way or another.

A MOV. file can be anything.
I would suggest you download and install Perian from http://perian.org/
You should read this support page http://perian.org/#support in case you need to delete older codecs.

  • Adobe bridges crashes when opening a video file

Adobe bridges crashes when opening a video file. i can open and view photos  but not .mov files or any other video file

  • Opening multiple movie files to play sequentially.

Currently, if I highlight several movie (e.g. .avi) files in a Finder window and then double-click on one of them, each of the files is opened in a separate QuickTime window and if I have "automatically play movies when opened" QuickTime preference set, then they all start playing simultaneously!
How do I change it so that opening multiple movie files results in them being played sequentially in a single window?
P.S. I have "Open movies in new players" preference is disabled.
P.P.S. For image files it all works correctly - they are opened in Preview and I get an option of starting a slideshow...

    Hi,
I'm not on a Mac at the moment to test, but I could have sworn you used to be able to open one movie, pause it and then drag and drop subsequent movies onto that window to append them to the end.
Give it a try. Sorry if I've been imagining things though

  • Feh showing black images when opening certain .bmp files

    Hi all,
I've been using feh (I'm using imagemagick too) from quite a bit and today I noticed it shows plain black images when opening certain .bmp files, those files are obtained from a Java WebService and they may not be correcty formed, still firefox can correctly visualize them. Would it be possible to make feh correctly display them ?

I've set Photoshop to ask me if there's a conflict with embedded color schemes but it doesn't ask when opening this file. So I presume it doesn't use any specific profile. (Can I check this directly somehow?)
EDIT: I've now set to ask if there is no profile embedded and Photoshop now says that the image has no embedded RGB profile.
My color profile within Photoshop is set to sRGB which is the default for my display.
When I try switching to other RGB profiles in the list, the colors change but the distortions are still there no matter which profile I choose.

  • Office 2013 applications cannot be made to show the "Documents" folder when opening and saving files

(Windows Server 2012R2 and Windows 8.1 PRO)
We are redirecting the user's "Documents" folder to the network (using Folder Redirection). The OS hides this fact however, and most applications simply see the "Documents" folder when opening or saving files, including Office 2003.
Office 2013 however displays the actual path, which in this case is:
    \\sever1\redirect$\username\documents
Even if you forcibly set the "Default local file location:"  in the Options Save area to the 'Documents' folder in, say, Word, Word immediately converts the local path to the network path.
Is there anyway to get Office 2013 to follow the virtual path? All of other apps follow it and expose the users only to "Documents".
    Thank you so much.
    Dana

There's nothing in my FAQ concerning screen savers, so I'm unsure why you decided to take that approach. From your description, it looks like you only tried a few of the suggestions before throwing in the towel. That's fine, it's your call.
I don't have the problems you described with 10.4.7. Usually when folks have problems after an update, these are caused by either installing an update on an already-corrutped system or they've installed third-party applications or hardware that have been rendered incompatible by the update.
Before installing software updates, you may wish to consider the advice in my "Installing Software Updates" FAQ. Taking the steps therein before installing an update often helps avert problems and gives you a fallback position in case trouble arises.
    Good luck!
