When opening a new tab how can I show previoius history in the window?

When opening a new tab, can I show the previous history in the new window?

You can try middle-clicking (scroll wheel) the Back button which will open a new tab with the same History.

When opening a new tab, how can I specify a site, homepage or empty? My new tabs open to a site I don't want to see.

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.

You can middle-click or hold down Ctrl and left-click the Home button on the Navigation toolbar to open the Home page in a new tab.
You can look at this extension to set which page to open in a new tab:

• When opening a new tab, how can I change the page that is initially displayed?

When I open a new tab, the page that is initially displayed is one that provides a simple Bing! search. What can I do to make the initial display one of my own choosing?

Select Firefox (Top left) / Options/ Options / Main or General.
There you can select the thing you whant firefox to do when it is started up. If you would like it to open www.google.com for instance, you have to paste that url (= www.google.com) into the space below.
That's it!

• When opening a new tab, how can you make the cursor automatically go to the address bar?

In my previous version of firefox, the cursor would go directly to the address bar when I opened a new tab. Thus, I could start typing the web address I wanted to go to immediately. However I upgraded to Firefox 4 today and I now have to manually click in the address bar. Is there any way to change this in settings or by installing a specific add-on?
Thanks!

You only get the cursor in the search bar if you open the built-in about:home page.
For other websites you need an extension.

• When I open a new tab, how can I get the curson to be on the URL line instead of in a search engine box?

When I open a new tab I almost always I know the URL of where I want to go. Therefore I do not want my cursor to be placed in the box of a search engine upon opening the new tab. I want it to be on the address line.

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.

• I accidentally changed my settings so another website is opened when I open a new tab; how do I get it back to the default quick links on a new tab?

The site that is shown is Ask.com, and it changed because when I downloaded iLivid installer I didn't uncheck the boxes that asked me if I wanted to make this change.

I'll list out the steps, but please note that any Ask-related extensions still in Firefox can override your preference, so you might want to check for and either disable or remove any such extension here first:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category
Here is how you can set/reset what appears on a new tab:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the filter box, type or paste '''newtab''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) To get the page thumbnails, right-click the '''browser.newtab.url''' preference and choose Reset
(4) For other choices, double-click the '''browser.newtab.url''' preference and enter the desired value:
''(i) Blank tab''
about:blank
''(ii) Built-in Firefox home page''
about:home
''(iii) Any other page''
full URL to the page
Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked. Fixed?

• When opening a new tab, how do i automaticaaly go to my homepage?

When I open a new tab I'd like the tab to default to my homepage, how do I set this up?

You can look at this extension to set which page to open in a new tab:
* NewTabURL : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl/

• My original page is no longer tabbed, and when opening a new tab, I can't go back to the original page without closing all of the tabs.

In the past, if I didn't have all of the tabs opened, or just opened a new window, the page would still be in a tab if I opened up new tabs. Now, if I hit the "+", I get a tab. I can't get back to the original page without closing all of the tabs.
Example: I open ebay.com in a window. I hit "+" and go to cnn.com. I want to go back to what I was viewing on ebay, and I can't see it, unless I close the cnn window.
