When opening a new window stopping the I bar from automatically showing up in the address bar instead of the search bar

I want the I bar to start in the search bar when opening a new page NOT the address bar.
Thank You.

What's an "I bar?"
Tip: Ctrl+E will place your cursor in IE8's Search box.

  • When opening a new window, it automatically loads last pop-up (?) content and I am unable to type in address bar or open a new tab in the new window.

I don't know if they're technically pop-up windows (for example, if you do a search on kayak.com, it will automatically open a new priceline.com window with the results of the search), but this happens with pop-up blocker on or off. Other examples are a small info window from a financial or .edu site that opens up saying a session is about to expire, or answering an FAQ (with the exception of the priceline example, these windows don't have an address bar or display a URL). Anyway, after these windows are closed, if I try to open a new window, it will automatically load the content of that "pop-up". Whenever it does this, I am unable to type in the address bar or open a new tab in that window.
How do I fix this? All I want is to open a new window that's blank, not load prior content.

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or even add / mal-ware.
Look thru your add-ons list and make sure you know what each one is
there for. Also, check the programs that are on your computer
'''Windows > Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs.'''
    '''(Mac: Open the "Applications" folder)'''
Go thru the list and use a web search to check any that you don't
    know what they are.

  • Previous window opens when opening a new window

When I have a number of windows open, and am looking at, say the third window and wish to open a new window, the last window in the sequence opens just before the new window.
Although the new window will be on screen, as soon as I close the new window, instead of going back to my last viewed window, it goes to the last window in the bar.......it is very annoying and would like to get rid of this problem.

  • When opening a new window, it just stays blank. For instance when I try to play a card game in yahoo games.

When I go to open a new window by the result of trying to open something on a page, the new window stays blank. There is no error message or anything, it just stays blank.

Firefox is very slow to respond when opening and nearly always stops responding altogether, even refusing to react to the Task Manager "End Program" command. The "not responding" error message also comes up during navigation on line. Several attempt have to be made to get on line. A loss of stability seems to be endemic at the moment.

  • TypeError:undefined is not an object message when opening a new window in Bridge

Every time I open a new window in Adobe Bridge CS6, I get a long error message that says
    "TypeError: undefined is not an object: onResize()buildUIStack(true,"Cabinet")buildUIStack([TabbedPalette:[objectTabbedPalette]], true,"Cabinet")switchTo([TabbedPalette:[objectTabbedPalette]],[Group:[object Group]],true)AmgDesignWindow([TabbedPalette:[objectTabbedPalette]],[Group:[object Group]],true)populate([Group:[object Group]],true)"
I'm running OS 10.8.5. I've tried uninstalling and then re-installing CS6 but I still get this error message. Once I click OK, a new window will open. I just want to know how to stop this message from popping up every time I click "new window".
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

It could also be a bug in OS.  Did it work before?  If so reset preferences.  Hold down Option key and start bridge.  You should get a reset window.

  • Error message when opening a new window.

Whenever I open a new window beside the initial one (by link or otherwise), I get this message:
Exception in LoadPrefs: TypeError: gBrowser.browsers[i] is undefined
The page appear, but it seems to have the default display (without my preferences or my bookmarks) and the content often isn't loaded.
    P.S. I can't send my Troubleshooting Information because it's
31 355 characters long (instead of 30 000). Is there a way to send it?
    Thanks in advance

  • How do I stop the iMessage conversation from automatically showing when I go into the I message center? I only want the contacts to show down the left side and nothing on the right until I select a conversation to view.

HOW DO I STOP THE WHOLE IMESSAGE CONVERSATION FROM AUTOMATICALLY SHOWING WHEN I GO INTO IMESSAGE? I only want the contact bar on the left to show and not the whole conversation, until I pick one to see.

You can't. You can sign out of messages and turn it off, but you can't do what you would like to do. You can send feedback to Apple.

  • When opening a new window, any clicks within the new window click through to the original window so you can't scroll or save from the new window.

Anytime that a new window is opened (such as when sending an email message or opening a pdf) I am unable to click on the new window. I can't click send or click on the scroll bars of the new window. If I attempt to click on the window it clicks on whatever is behind the window instead. If the new window opens with a cursor within it then I am able to type or scroll through with keyboard arrows, but cannot click or use the mouse scroll buttons. I also cannot choose items from drop down menus with the mouse (even in the original window). I must use the keyboard arrows to select any menu options.

  • Can I make the finder open my most recently used folder when opening a new window?

    Hello Community!
When I open a new finder window I would like it to open the folder I worked in last (i.e. the one I saved sth to or opened sth from). I know I can go over "Go to" but is there a way to adjust the settings so that it opens automatically?
    Thanks in advance!

    none than I know of.
Of course, you could always make an Apple Script as an app (that you could place next to the finder icon on the dock for ex) that would do it, but that would require programming skills.

  • When opening a new window, I sometimes get a black and white streaks in them. If you click on another window or try to scroll through the black window, it sometimes refreshes and looks normal.

It only happen on one of my computers. This computer actually has a faster processor, more RAM, and a better video card than my laptop which has no problems.

I solved my own problem. :-) I simply needed to change the "size" setting in my add-on "Theme Font & Size Changer" to a smaller number. Now the new windows don't require scrolling to see the entire content. But, I suppose for someone with serious vision problems, they might need to do the same thing, but then break out a magnifying glass to read everything in the window.....

  • Ipad2 issue when opening a new window

I have ipad 2, when new small windows are opened they are opened in the corner of my ipad where i can't see what's written on it, for example if i want to share a document on pages via email,  new window is opened in the corner, a blank one that can't be zoomed or even closed ,,,, this happens in more than one place not in pages only

Try shutting down all of your program by double clicking on the home button, after the multi-task windows opens hold you finger on the first app until it's starts to wiggle and a red minus sign shows up in the left corner, tap the red minus sign until all your apps are closed.  Then restart your iPad 2 by holding down the on/off and the home buttons until you see the Apple logo.

  • Firefox crashes when opening a new window

Firefox opens normally and runs properly -- until I close all its windows. When zero windows are present, and I return to Firefox and ask for a new window, Firefox hangs. To resolve the problem I must Force Quit the app, which generates a crash report to Apple. Occasionally Firefox has crashed on its own and generated a crash report to Mozilla, but this is rare. I have tried disabling all add-ons, but that had no effect.
As long as there is at least one Firefox window open, the app functions normally. This problem only occurs when going from zero windows to one window.

  • How can I change the system to stop opening a new page everytime I seek information from that page? It took me 5 pages on the task bar to ask this question.

This week I downloaded the BIOS update from Mozilla and since then my header bar has not been the same. For instance, in order to get to this box, to ask my question, I entered Mozilla.com, then entered "Help" which resulted in a new tab, then "Ask a Question" which was another tab, then still another tab. By the time I got to this page I have 5 tabs open. In the past, a new page was opened and I could always return to the original via the "arrow" in the address bar. More than likely this can be solved with one key stroke, I just don't know what key to stroke.
    Thank you!

I'm sorry, but what do you mean by a BIOS update?
Firefox will launch a link in a new tab if the Ctrl key is pressed down during clicking, and will launch a link in a new window if the Shift key is pressed down during clicking. Maybe Firefox is having trouble reading your keyboard accurately. Sometimes pressing Ctrl or Shift several times will help clear that up. In other cases, it could be a compatibility problem with your keyboard, low batteries, or another problem on the keyboard side. And/or, if you haven't shut down and restarted Windows since this problem began, that sometimes helps.
Some add-ons also can change how links behave. Do you have any extensions related to tabs, like Tab Mix Plus? You can review your extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. For some, you will find an Options button to inspect their settings.

  • Firefox crashes, typically (but not exclusively) when opening a new window.

Firefox has been crashing every couple of hours for the past month or so. It seems to happen the most when I open a new tab, but I think it has crashed other times too. I have also seen it get up to 1,000,000+K in my memory (running at 432,000K right now).
Hardware acceleration has been off and that hasn't helped.

Wyoung221: I've looked over your crash reports and two things are consistent.
    1) Your crash report signatures are consistent with one signature <i>(gfxContext::PushClipsToDT(mozilla::gfx::DrawTarget)</i> which refers to graphics. (1)
There's one signature <i>(mozilla::WebGLTexture::DoDeferredImageInitialization(unsigned int, int)</i> that has a new bug filed on it but it's stalled.
    2) Your System Memory Use Percentage hovers around 70-80% so this could be out of memory crashes as well. (2)
    1. Firefox has hardware acceleration set to "on" by default, but it's still young, which means some video cards or drivers might have problems with it. You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox (you need to close and restart Firefox).
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
    2. In addition to the hardware acceleration, the System Memory Use Percentage in the crash reports is rather high, so this might be out-of-memory crashes
