When opening Firefox 4 RC it says connecting for a long time

Usually when I open Firefox 4 RC it will show "connecting" in the tab for sometimes a minute or more. Happens on my desktop and laptop both running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. It seems to happen every time I cold start Firefox, and it happens a few other times with warm starting it.

Hi there derekmski.
I had this error as well. I believe it's an error caused by the 'TabRenamizer' add-on. This causes 'New Tab' or 'Connecting' to appear in the tab for extended periods of time, even after the page has fully loaded.
If you're running this add-on, try removing it. If not, I'm afraid I don't have any answers.

  • When opening firefox I get, Can't connect to server on my homepage, but I can then open websites from my bookmarks. How can I resolve this?

I get a long load time when I open firefox 35. Then cannot connect to server, however i can then open websites fine via my bookmarks list. Tries reinstalling, did not help, made google my homepage in options, does not help.

Does this happen every time? Or is it only when your computer is first turned on/waken up?
If you open another browser (Internet Explorer/Chrome/...) does it do the same thing?
I might be that your computer takes a few seconds to (re-)establish its network connectivity after sleeping. Try this
    #Click Start
    #Type Computer Management
#Click the first result or push enter
    #Click '''Device Manager'''
    #Expand network adapters
#Right click on your network adapter then click '''Properties'''
    #Click on '''Power Management'''
#Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

  • OSMF tries all protocols, won't connect for a long time, then plays

I'm trying to play to an .flv video recorded with Red5 using the OSMF sprite.  It take a long time (35 secs) to start playing.  Odd thing is that it immediately tries :443 and :80, then goes back to :1935.  Can anyone tell me what's happening and how to fix it?  Here's the output from the sprite.

I was also wondering if there was a way to disable NetConnection "port negotiation" (or whatever that feature is called) as well.
When I've written custom players in the past we exclusively used port 1935 (the standard) and never got any complaints about playback issues, so personally I would rather have the player fire up quicker!

  • Google Books: cannot view book's pages, says loading for a long time. No problem in IE or Chrome. Settings wrong somewhere?

Once I get to the page of a certain Google Book text, the pages are not visible. If I search for text, I can see the yellow highlight but not he text. The pages say "loading" forever and do not load. In IE or Chrome there is no problem. All the pages are visible. • TS1398 my iphone will not connect to my network...even though it was automatically connected for a long time.  now nothing.  I've tried everything...please help.

I am having trouble getting my iphone hooked onto my wifi.  It has always been hooked up to my wifi, but since yesterday it has been doing this. Yesterday i turned my phone off and on and that seems to work...but today, nothing works.  I've reset my network and everything...Please help me.

Tozo, it sounds like your setup may be missing DNS server numbers. Try the following:
    *Reset/Change DNS Settings*
    Launch Airport Utility.
    Select Airport device on left.
    Click "Manual Setup".
Select "Internet" from the toolbar above.
What's listed for "DNS Server(s):"? Try putting in these servers from OpenDNS
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Click "Update".
Next, on all Macs affected, launch System Prefs --> Network Prefs.
Select the service you usually connect with on the left (Airport or Ethernet).
    Then click, "Advanced...".
    Click the "DNS" tab.
What's listed for "DNS Server(s):"? Usually "10.0.1.1" will be listed first in gray. This refers back to the settings in the Airport Utility.
Nevertheless, it doesn't hurt to add the DNS servers noted above here as well.
    Click "OK" then click "Apply".
    Finally, reboot your Mac.
Now see if you have internet access all around.
Let us know if this was helpful. Cheers!

  • I have used Firefox on my Samsung android tablet for a long time. Now it stalls and becomes unresponsive on any website.

  • Not responding when opening FireFox 4.0b7

    Hi there,
When opening FireFox 4.0b7 the browser hangs for about a minute and I get (Not Responding). If I use FireFox 3.6.13 I have no problems at all or if I use any of the other browsers, link IE9 Beta. What is going on?
The opening webpage we use is: www.tlc-online.co.uk/ I have changed the opening homepage to www.bbc.co.uk/ and the same thing happens.
Thanks for reading and any help you can give.

This will most likely due to hardware acceleration. There are a number of bug reports that are still being worked on to improve startup times with hardware acceleration turned on.
You can turn off hardware acceleration to improve startup times. To do that in the Tools menu select Options to open the options dialog. Select the Advanced panel, and then the General tab. Uncheck the setting "Use hardware acceleration when available".

  • Avast detects URL:MAL when opening firefox. No issue with IE or Chrome, after troubleshooting realized problem is NoScript addon. Can it have been infected?

    avast -network shield
    Infection Details
    URL: http://188.24.140.190/
    Process: C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe
    Infection: URL:Mal

    Hi Tyler,
    Thanks for quick reply
Initially after some troubleshooting I noticed that I could make infection pop up disappear:
From Configure how firefox connects to the internet -> changed from "use system proxy settings" to "auto-detect proxy settings" or "no proxy"
With this option modified, the pop up from avast didn't appear any longer when opening Firefox.
However I noticed that both Chrome and IE were set to work on the same "use system proxy settings" and they weren't causing problems...so I assumed the problem still has to be with firefox.
After changing back the option in firefox to "use system proxy" I got again the notice, but saw that when opening firefox in safe mode the issue was gone again.
I tracked it to the no script addon, after removing it, the issue disappear regardless of proxy config settings...when I reinstall it, it appears again.
I am now running in depth virus scans to see were the actual infection is.
It seems to me it is expoiting a vulnerability in this addon, I will try the reset also.

  • When opening Firefox I get a Java Scripts error message and Firefox will not always open

When opening Firefox browser I get an error message from JavaScript Application: "TypeError:components{cid} is undefined. Sometimes the Firefox browser will not open; sometimes it does. Very annoying!!
    Richard

This can be caused by an add-on that says it is compatible with Firefox 4 but isn't quite compatible. This thread has more information: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/729606 Javascript pop errors stating: TypeError: Components.classes&#0091;cid&#0093; is undefined | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help].
    Does that help?

  • I Hate Bing and when I click on a Firefox NEW Tab and search I keep getting Bing results, I used to get Google which I would like back, my homepage when opening Firefox is not Bing but all tab searches retrieve Bing results.

My homepage when opening Firefox is not Bing, yet for some reason today it started using Bing instead of Google for my NEW tab search results. I already deleted Bing from the search bar, no results. Deleted Bing from my computer's control panel. I just want to be able to click a new tab and have my results in google as I always have.

hello, you have a malicious addon present on your pc. <br>please go to ''firefox > addons > extensions'' & remove ''LyricsParty''.
also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and run a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and different other tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] & [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner].

  • When opening Firefox, I also get a popup page thanking me for installing AOL Toolbar.

Frequently, when opening Firefox 7.0.1 I get a popup page over the home page. The popup page is a Thank You for installing AOL Toolbar. I do not have the toolbar, though I might have in the past. I do not like AOL and want to stop the popup page but have not been able to. I do use Winamp's Toolbar and this could be the source of the problem. If Winamp Toolbar is the problem, I will uninstall it if there is no way to turn off the popup from there. Please assist.

There is some anecdotal evidence that the scripts on the Apple site that are supposed to detect the version of Windows you are running may fail for some users - jumping straight to the "Thank you for downloading ..." page with the installer not having been downloaded.  As an alternative, you can go directly to the relevant downloads:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (32-bit) - itunessetup.exe
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit) - itunes6464setup.exe
There is an alternative downloader for 64-bit editions of Windows here:
iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
that seems to address many of the playback issues that some users have been reporting with the full 64-bit version (the alternative installer here is the same architecture as most previous "64-bit" versions of iTunes, i.e., a 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer).  The "for older video cards" reference does not seem to fully define the scope of systems for which this alternative works better.
See turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for more details if you're still having problems with installation.  This also includes links to the iTunes 12.0 installers if the issues reported with 12.1 suggest it safer to use the previous version.
