When opening image in Photoshop from Lightroom "edit it," it defaults to TIF format

When I open an image in Photoshop CC by using the "edit with" command in Lightroom 5, after editing, the file will default to a TIF image rather than PSD. This ends up creating large, duplicate files (TIF and PSD) after I correct the problem.
Isn't there a way to ensure Photoshop CC defaults to a PSD regardless of where it's opened.
I do not use any editing or image-adjusting features in Lightroom. Nothing is changed in a photo until I edit in Photoshop. I open with RAW in photoshop.
I'm using Windows 8.1 with plenty of memory and disk space.
Thanks

Hi EJToll,
If you like to set the default file format of the file you Edit in Photoshop CC thorugh Lightroom then perform following steps.
Lanuch Lightroom and go to Edit> Preference(Windows) Lightroom>Peference(Mac)
Click "External Editing" tab
Change the option for "File Format" to PSD as deafult format for Edit In Adobe Photoshop CC
Click "Ok" button
Hope this helps.

    Hi Karen
You may the sort set to Custom. Click the dropdown menu on the toolbar (to the right of the word sort) and change to capture time.
If you can’t see the toolbar above the filmstrip press the T key. Press T again to hide.

  • When I open an image in Photoshop from Lightroom it does not show any adjustments, without restarting photoshop between each picture.

I am using Macbook Pro, Photoshop CC, and Lightroom 5.
The problem is: When I start edit in photoshop from Lightroom, the adjustment in Lightroom does not showing up in Photoshop. This has never been happen before while using Photoshop 6.
I have tried to reinstall the products several times, including OS Yosemite. But it does not help.

The problem with write permissions for the OneDrive folder only shows up in Lightroom 6's export dialogue, that's why it's to irritating. Lightroom 5.7.1 is not having that problem nor does the file explorer. The problem also exists on both of my machines. I will try to check for other problems with the OneDrive troubleshooter though: Running the OneDrive troubleshooter - Windows Help

  • Opening jpg in photoshop from lightroom

I have Lightroom 4.2 and Photoshop CS6. If I'm viewing a photo in LR and select edit in CS6, the photo doesn't open in camera raw, even though I have CR selected in photoshop preferences as my preference. Is this normal?

You cannot open directly into ACR from Lightroom.  Lightroom and ACR perform the same functions.  In the transfer from Lightroom to Photoshop the design is for ACR to simply interpret the adjustments made in Lightroom, and apply those adjustments to the image that is opened in Photoshop.  Technically speaking, ACR isn't needed for anything else because it is simply a duplication of effort.  So if you want to return or enter ACR, you have to do as Rick indicated, and double click on the smart object in the layers panel.

  • Match color space when opening image in photoshop

hi, i have new macbook air and when i export image from lightroom as TIFF (pro photo RGB) and import to photoshop, it asks what to do that embedded color space does not match with settings, therefore i changed that in photoshop (edit/color settings to pro photo rGB ), however my question is:  if there is any problem because my notebook display is set (system preferences) to "color LCD"
when i set my display as pro photo RGB, it base blue tone, i must use Apple's preset called "colour LCD"

    Good day!
if there is any problem because my notebook display is set (system preferences) to "color LCD"
Your screen profile should generally not be set to your RGB Working Space as this would kind of negate Color Management.
And in the absence of a proper custom profile the maker’s default profile seems to be a valid choice.

  • Opening file in Photoshop with Lightroom edits doesn't work anymore

I have LR5.3 and PS CS6. Since I've updated camera Raw, my files won't open as Tiff files when I want to edit them in Photoshop. Hence, all the edits made in LR before won't be kept. I don't see the window saying "Open in PS with Lightroom edits"???? Anybody had the same problem? In LR Preferences, Tiff is preciser as the file format to edit in PS but it doesn't work

Have a look at this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1385332?tstart=0
    Does that help??

  • Opening images in CS5 from Lightroom 4

    Hi,
Can someone explain why, when I edit an image from Lightroom in CS5 ( or other plugins ), that when I save it and go back to Lightroom, the edited image is not there.
The original is there but not the edited version. It will say 2 x 2 for example, so I know the edited version is there somewhere, but I cannot see it in the filmstrip.
The only way I can see the edited image is if I close Lightroom down and restart it. Then it appears next to the original. Obviously that is not ideal.
I would appreciate any help, I hope its just a setting somewhere.
    Thanks,
    Dave.

Have you tried resetting your warnings in the preferences dialog?

  • Problems with files opened in Photoshop from Lightroom

    Hi,
I started editing a large number of files recently and came upon strange problems when sending files to Photoshop from Lightroom:
    1. Sometimes, all edits will be transferred to Photoshop except for the Lens Profile Correction. I tried clearing all changes and starting again, and it didn't work. However, if Lens Profile Correction is the ONLY change I make in Lightroom, it is correctly shown when the file is opened in Photoshop. [EDIT: I thought it was only the Lens Profile Correction, but with some files it appears other edits are disappearing too, such as cropping.]
    2. Sometimes, and I can't seem to find any pattern for this, files I sent to Photoshop will open as only "slices" of images. In fact, there is only one sliver of the image that gets opened. Sometimes it is a vertical line, sometimes a horizontal line, usually about 1/20 as thick as it is long. For that problem, I haven't found a solution yet.
I am using the latest versions of Lightroom, Photoshop and Camera Raw, with RAW files created with a Nikon D7000 camera, on an iMac from 2011. I have no software or hardware problems apart from this.
    Here's hoping someone can help.
    Thanks!

  • Why am I not able to export NEF files to Photoshop from Lightroom to edit. This is new. When I right click on an image, the export to PS option is not selectable.

Why am I not able to export NEF files to Photoshop from Lightroom to edit. This is new. When I right click on an image, the export to PS option is not selectable. I've never had this happen before. I haven't used it for a few weeks, so maybe there's an update (Mac or otherwise) that's screwing things up? HELP!

I have an Edit In - Photoshop option, but not an Export - Photoshop option.
Obviously to have right-click Edit In to work, the photo you're right-clicking on needs to be selected.  I assume this is not the problem, and that the photo is selected.
Mavericks 10.9.3 has a problem where the Users folder is hidden, and you need to update iTunes to fix it, but it's been a few weeks since this happened so hopefully you're up-to-date and the Users folder isn't hidden anymore.
If you can't get things to work, I'd uninstall LR and uninstall Photoshop, then install Photoshop, and update it, then install LR and update it, as a way to get any wayward security or other OS-level things reset.

  • Saving edited image back to photoshop from lightroom

In Lightroom 4 and Photoshop cs5 I could export to Photoshop from lightroom...edit....then save and the edited photo would go back to Lightroom complete with edits. Now in LR5 and CC the edited image does not go back to LR I have tried syncing no avail...any idea?

I just recently started trying to use my Photoshop CS3, after acquiring it 3 years ago, and never quite getting around to tackling it, since I was still using good old PS v.7.0. I finally made the leap. What a shock! The CreativeSuites version is entirely different from the old versions, and, so far, impossible for me to figure out. Most of the functions I was used to are drastically reconfigured from standard PS's. (I'm going to have to get a Users' Manual or take another class.)
One thing I DID figure out is the function you are questioning. Export a downloaded iPhoto shot - from your iPhoto - to the desktop; Open Photoshop and open the iPhoto shot (will be in the Preview mode) in Photoshop, save as a Photoshop tiff,  and do whatever editing, retouching, etc. in Photoshop. Save, and then from iPhoto, import - fom desktop - back into iPhoto Library.
If anyone know where i can get a comprehensive (beginners") manual on how to use the CreativeSuite version of Photoshop, please communicate! (After 3 years, I can't locate any manual that may have come with the software and there is no PDF version that I can find on line. I am completely mystified.)

  • Edit in Photoshop from Lightroom doesn't work; Automate Photomerge doesn't work

Edit in Photoshop from Lightroom doesn't work.
It opens the Photoshop application with all the menus/windows, but it never opens the actual image I chose to work on.
Likewise,  I also can't automate>Photomerge ...  I pick all the images for the PHotomerge and hit "okay," but nothing happens.   Makes me think it's  Photoshop, not Lightroom, that is all wacky.
I'm on a Mac, using OS X Yosemite, 10.10.1  Lightroom is version 5.7  Photoshop is CS5, version 12.0.4
I uninstalled Photoshop CS5 and reinstalled. No change.  I also tried dumping PS preferences, but that didn't affect a thing, either.

None of my "Edit In" worked with the pictures in Lightroom for a particular folder. I expanded the 2014 folder and found that two subfolders had a "?" in front of the 2014-07-04" and another. In other words, the folder was missing. After I found the missing folders using the Lightroom "Find Missing Folder" option, I was able to use the "Edit In" menu item. The 2014 folders weren't expanded at first, so I didn't see the ? marks in front of them. With the missing folders, Lightroom's "Edit In" option was basically telling me there was no picture to "Edit In." Howerver, I have Previews and Smart Previews made when I import picture files into Lightroom. So, the "pictures" showed in the slide strip on the bottom, and also in the display in "expand," but it was actually only showing the previews I had built, not the actual missing pictures in the missing folders. I had accidentally moved some directories using Windows Explorer, and I didn't realize my "happy fingers" moved them outside of Lightroom. Of course, Lightroom has no way of knowing I moved them, and just shows the "?" before the missing folder name. After expanding the root folder, then knew what to do. Fixed it easily. It was frustrating, and took about 20 minutes to see the problem. And that fixed the greyed-out "Edit In" Photoshop CC 2014, and all the other plug-ins were greyed out too.
    Hope this fixes your problem.

  • When opening image in PS, Lightroom won't open version with LR adjustments

When I right click on a photo and select "edit images in Photoshop," then choose "edit a copy with LR adjustments," it opens in photoshop WITHOUT the lightroom adjustments! I've had this happen in the past, but the problem would always clear up if I restarted Lightroom or my computer. But now, after restarting both, it's still doing the same thing.  I even downloaded and installed the latest LR version, and still the same problem.  HELP!!!!!

the words i was thinking of was "render in Lightroom".
Julieanne has some other great LR-PS tips also. some new to me so I will better look again

  • Editing photo in photoshop from lightroom 4

When in lightroom 4,  selecting a photo and choosing edit in photoshop, sometimes a dialog box opens asking if I want to open original or copy with lightroom edits and sometimes it just opens in photoshop without the options. Anyone know why that is

    Hello!
If you open a non-raw image such as TIFF, PSD, or Jpeg in Lightroom, you will prompt the dialog box to open asking to "edit a copy with lightroom adjustments", "edit a copy", or "edit a original".
If you open a raw image using the additional external editor option, the only available option is to edit a pixel-rendered copy using Lightroom adjustment: "edit a copy with lightroom adjustments".
