When performing a new book, how to see specific rolls in upside of screen?

I will appreciate if somebody can help me!!!
I'm trying to do a new book with the photos of the last year to gift it to a family. Already organize the library by rolls of events but when go to the book and try to get the Pic's it show another file of Pic's, not the rolls of the library.
*How to see the specific rolls in the upside of the screen when perform a book?*
In addition, all Pic's already include in the book has a warning massage "This photo may print at too low of quality".
*How to avoid lack of quality and bad pic's in the book? How I'm sure of it before buy it?*
Also in some pages I'm writing shorts sentences and will prefer to has a big Pic's (not to zoom it).
*How to enlarge the Pic size in the page?*

Hi ricardog,
Hopefully I can help in some way, as I have only just started using iPhoto myself.
Regarding pics, I found it much easier to create a single roll containing all of the images you want in the book. However, that is not essential. As far as getting the book to see the relevant images, you need to select the actual pics you want in the iPhoto preview window, and drag those over the Book icon that will be in the left hand pane. This tells the Book (or calendar) which images are going to be used in the project.
Quality wise - it is unfortunately a bit of a problem if you are creating a book at a large size, with perhaps full size images approaching A4 - many consumer digital cameras are not going to be producing images capable of going up to that kind of size, and you may need to rethink your layout or book choice. Basically, images placed in the book or calendar will need to be at a final resolution of at least 300dpi once they have been resized to the pic box size in question. The smaller the pic box size, the greater chance you have of this happening.
You can save your book out as a PDF first, via the print menu, which allows you to check the quality of images and to make sure your captions look how you want them to. You will end up with a 300dpi PDF image which is exactly how the file will be sent to Apple - if your images look poor on your PDF preview, then they will look poor on the book you receive.
You can resize and recrop images by double clicking them after you have dragged them to the book. This brings up a slider at the top of the image where the size can be altered. Dragging across the image will make the hand icon appear, and this is where you can alter the crop. Bear in mind though, that if you are already struggling with image resolutions, making images bigger will only make this problem worse.
Hope that all helps and not confuses!

  • How do you shuffle the image order when creating a new slideshow in apterture 3?  i would like to do this automatically when creating a new slideshow.  i see how you do it when you just play a slideshow.

    how do you shuffle the image order when creating a new slideshow in apterture 3?  i would like to do this automatically when creating a new slideshow.  i see how you do it with presets when you just play a slideshow, but i don't see an option to randomly shuffle the slide order when you create a new slideshow.  i know you can sort it by different fields, but i want it to be random.  thanks.

    If you want to rearrange images in random order you can try an AppleScript:
    retrieve a list of selected images from Aperture
    shuffe the list properly
    create an album in Aperture and add the images from the list to the album (make sure that the album set to be orederd manually)
    Here  is a sample script that shuffles the selected images and displays them in random order in Full Screen Mode:
    on removeItem(ims, i)
      -- remove the item at position "i" from a list ims
              if ims is {} then return {}
              if (length of ims is 1) then return {}
              if i < 2 then return rest of ims
              if (i = length of ims) then return (items 1 thru (i - 1) of ims)
              if i > (length of ims) then return ims -- should be error?
              return (items 1 thru (i - 1) of ims) & (items (i + 1) thru (length of ims) of ims)
    end removeItem
    on shuffle_items(ims)
      -- shuffle the items of the list "ims" randomly
              local numitems, ims_shuffled, nextrest, nextpick, i
              set numitems to length of ims
              if length of ims < 2 then return ims
              set ims_shuffled to {}
              set nextrest to ims
              repeat until nextrest is {}
                        set i to (random number (numitems - 1)) + 1
                        set nextpick to item i of nextrest
                        set beginning of ims_shuffled to nextpick
                        set numitems to numitems - 1
                        set nextrest to removeItem(nextrest, i)
              end repeat
              return ims_shuffled
    end shuffle_items
    on shuffleIms()
      -- retrieve the selected images from Aperture
      -- and display them in random order in full screen mode
              local imageSel, shuffled, i
              tell application "Aperture"
      activate
                        set imageSel to (get selection)
                        set shuffled to my shuffle_items(imageSel)
                        set fullscreen to true
                        if imageSel is {} then error "Please select some images."
                        repeat with i from 1 to count of shuffled
                                  reveal {item i of shuffled}
      delay 3 -- chnage that to the time you want
                        end repeat
                        set fullscreen to false
                        return shuffled
              end tell
    end shuffleIms
    shuffleIms()
    Some more code snippets to go from here:
    To create an album:
                        tell library 1
                                  if not (exists album "shuffledAlbum") then
      make new album with properties {name:"shuffledAlbum", image version:shuffled}
                                  end if
                        end tell
    And to add the images from the shuffled list to the album:
                        repeat with i from 1 to count of shuffled
                                  duplicate item i of shuffled to album "shuffledAlbum"
                        end repeat

    When opening a new tab, how can I specify a site, homepage or empty? My new tabs open to a site I don't want to see.

    A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
    If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.

  • No themes available when creating a new book in iPhoto 08

    I cannot create a new Book in iPhoto 08 version 7.1.5 (378).

    Look in your User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder. If you find it there move it to the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder and reboot. Then try iPhoto again. That may save you having to go thru the reinstallation.

  • When creating a new document, how do I designate an AA  cover master and BB back page master?

    I am starting a new document with CS-5 that is a pamphlet with different header and footers on the cover page, back page and internal pages. How do I designate the AA cover page, BB back page and internal A Master pages in the page menu?

    After retiring from Sikorsky Aircraft as a design and development engineer for over 42 years, I volunteered to design and edit the Sikorsky Archive
    Newsletters, which we upload to our website at www.Sikorskyarchives.com .
    That is so cool. When I was 13 years old, you had my dream job
    I use this arrangement during the writing phase due to the ease of going from each page in numerical sequence. I can then print a PDF in numerical sequence for editing purposes. However, the printing facilities we use requires a 9 page 5 spread layout so that he can print the 8 page document properly. I cannot figure out how to get an in-line single page PDF for easily editing and correcting from the printing format. Any simple procedure for converting from one format to the other without loosing any of the final data would be most helpful, and sure increase my old brain functioning capability
    Well, usually when InDesign forum regulars hear something like this, they say "Imposition is the printer's job." I don't know if you are printing in-house, or if you're handing this off to a commercial printer. From your phrase "printing facilities we use" I'm guessing that you're printing it yourself. The way that I'd do this if I was going to print the booklet myself is: I'd design in "reading order" (1, 2, 3, 4... 8) and then use File -> Print Booklet to make a PDF that was set up correctly to be printed & folded with correct pagination (1, 8, 2, 7...). The output you get from Print Booklet is PDF only, so you keep your editable InDesign document in reading order, but your PDF is set up in booklet-printing order. (You can always export a PDF from InDesign if you want a PDF in reading order.)
    There are other solutions if you need more flexibility, but this is the solution that leapt out at me.

  • When I open new tabs, how do I set my tabs to open to the same web page every time?

    I have my home page set, but I don't see an option to set what site my tabs open with. I did have a website opening in my tabs, but it wasn't a change I made. According to one of the help articles, an extension may have changed what site kept appearing in new tabs. Now, my tabs are back to the eight tiles, but I'd like to set them to a specific website. How do I make this change to my tabs?

    You will have to open the <b>about:config</b> page and set the new tab page by changing the value of the browser.newtab.url pref via the right-click context menu as stated in the KB article.
    You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location/address bar.
    You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

  • When opening a new tab, how can you make the cursor automatically go to the address bar?

    In my previous version of firefox, the cursor would go directly to the address bar when I opened a new tab. Thus, I could start typing the web address I wanted to go to immediately. However I upgraded to Firefox 4 today and I now have to manually click in the address bar. Is there any way to change this in settings or by installing a specific add-on?
    Thanks!

    You only get the cursor in the search bar if you open the built-in about:home page.<br />
    For other websites you need an extension.

    You can not - they are soreted by date
