When playing an MP3 in Firefox browser, no image visible

Since I've started using my new computer running Vista and the most up-to-date version of Firefox, I seem to have a problem with streaming mp3's in my Firefox browser. The track will load and play, however, where the Quicktime player would be located is just a black rectangle. I can click around in the box to play and stop or skip to another part of the song, though I can't see anything or what I'm clicking. It just seems that there is a problem with the image. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Quicktime and still have the same issue. I've tried turning off my AdBlock, and still the same issue. Anyone else have this problem? Is this being caused by Vista, Firefox, or the Quicktime player? Any tips on how I can get the image back in my player? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No doubt you have a 64 bit version of Vista.
Read the help files on your OS to learn more about 32 bit "compatibility" mode.

I recently installed Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX--11.4.402.265 and when I open My Mozilla Firefox browser I keep getting this message flashing on my screen: 'Adobe Flash Player 11.4 r402 has stopped working" and then "Windows is checking for a solution"
This flashes a few times then usually stops but not always.
It happens every time I try to open a new page.
I fixed this problem by uninstalling Adobe Flash Player 11 and installing Adobe Flash Player 10.3. However, now my IE browser wants me to install Adobe Flash Player 11 again. Although I don't use my IE browser frequently, I DO have to use it sometimes. Will there be an update to Firefox 15.0 to correct this issue?

• Why is it when I click on my Firefox browser it says, "This Website is offline"? It works but not like it used to. What do I do?

This is what I get onscreen when I click on my Firefox browser:
This website is offline
No cached version is available
What's wrong?
The most likely causes:
The server is down for maintenance
There may be a network problem
The site may be experiencing excessive load
Retry for a live version of the site
What's CloudFlare?
This website uses CloudFlare in order to help keep it online when the server is down by serving cached copies of pages when they are unavailable. Unfortunately, a cached copy of the page you requested is not available, but you may be able to reach other cached pages on the site.

It is possible that the server is down or otherwise has problems.
Can you post a link to a publicly accessible page that doesn't require authentication (log in) to access it?
You can try to see if you can access the page via a site like Google Translate with a random source language.

• Since yesterday when I open a new firefox browser , it searches in yahoo instead of google. How can I fix this.. Dont see anything new in the toolbars

The toolbars appear the same, but when I open a firefox browser and do a search it uses yahoo instead of google. I am not aware of anything I did to cause this

Try to reset some preferences to the default with the SearchReset extension:
Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).
You can check the browser.search.defaultenginename pref on the about:config page and make sure that it is set to Google.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

• When I try to use Firefox Browser on my Samsung Note 3, the screen comes up white after the orange bar runs across the top. It worked yesterday.

March, 9th, 2015 -- My Samsung Note 3 is on AT&T wireless, but I Have Xfinity wi-fi at home. Firefox browser worked yesterday & last night. Today when I search it comes up with a blank white screen after the orange bar runs across the top & never loads anything (words or pictures). When I open the tabs in the side bar, it shows the pictures for them, but still only loads a white page after clicking actual link. It will not sync the last few saved bookmarks with my computer. I made sure that I have the latest android version installed, but It still does this even after uninstalling & re-installing & restarting the phone. AT&T had an update a couple of days ago & I've already talked with their tech support with no resolution. I don't know if there is conflict with AT&T's update & current Android Firefox browser. Please Fix, thank you.

Yes, it does the same thing whether on wi-fi or 4G.

• When I open a second Firefox browser window, the URL address window, instead of showing the URL, says "Go to a Web Site;" also, and more importantly, the "back" button is greyed out. This is a new problem, and the first Firefox window I open works fine.

After I open the first Firefox browser window, any additional window I open does not open my homepage, but opens a blank page with "New Tab" showing on the tab. An orange "Firefox" tab with a drop down arrow shows at the upper left hand corner of the screen. All of the options (File, Edit, etc.) are greyed out, however they will work if you move your cursor over them.
The URL address window says "Go to a Web Site". After I've gone to a website, the back button remains greyed out and I am not able to go back to a previous page. My RoboForm and Netcraft toolbars only show up in an abbreviate form. The add-on bar doesn't show up at all.
Again, this is a recent problem, and only happens after I've opened one browser window (which works fine) and then open additional browser windows (as few as one additional).

I had this same problem. Seems to be caused by the web developer tool bar FF extension (this started happening after a recent update to that extension). After disabling it, my FF is back to normal :)

• Why does my hotmail account will no longer allow me to reply, foreward or create new email when in use with the firefox browser but allow me to do those things when using IE?

5-6 days ago my hotmail account began to say words to the effect that it could not perform the above described actions. I sent a few inquiries but have received no response. I opened a gmail with which seems to work just fine except for one aspect which I will mention later. When I opened IE(without add-ons) and accessed hotmail the above mentioned actions seem to work just fine. I have used firefox as my browser for about 6-7 years with no problems. The computer i use is still the same and i have made no changes other than to install MS updates which occur automatically. I'm puzzled. Can you assiist?
The issue I'm having with gmail is that I cannot figure out how to force a log-in asking for username and password and how to force an explicit logout.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

• When playing a game on Firefox, game screen is cut off at bottom. Cannot see entire game, nor can I scroll to see it.

I am playing Dragons of Atlantis on Facebook. This morning the full game showed on-screen. A couple hours later, the bottom of the screen was raised and I can't see the bottom of the game screen. I can play the same game on Internet Explorer so I don't think it's the game. I've cleared my cookies and cache. I've also tried the game on our PC and our Mac. I'm assuming it's Firefox as it's the same on both computers. Thanks!

Give this a try:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder: User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try full screen again.
NOTE: For Mavericks and Yosemite, go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.

• When I'm in a Firefox browser window the screen info rolls up and down and doesn't respond to scroll bar control.

This problem occurs intermmitently, but becomes more prevalent the longer I stay in the window and resumes when I move into another website. Occasionally, I seem to be able to stop the rolling by right-clicking the mouse while hovering the pointer arrow over the scroll bar. ost of the time I can not control the window roll, even with the scroll bar. If I exit Firefox and return, the problem ceases and then resues as before.

Must be a problem with the graphics drivers or operating system.. Any other system malfunctioning reported ?
If yes, kindly contact your system admin and format your OS...
Must be a problem with compatibility, so please do the the above
Happy browsing

Is this a phishing attempt or a problem with firefiox?

What is the timing of this suspicious tab appearing?
* Any new window (e.g., Ctrl+n): your home page may have been modified. You should be able to edit that in the Options dialog. [[Startup, home page and download settings]]. If your change doesn't stick between startups of Firefox, check for a user.js file which might dynamically alter your startup settings. See this article for more information: [[How to fix preferences that won't save]].
* Startup only: some malware has been discovered to modify the target of the desktop shortcut used to start Firefox (adding a URL to open). Right-click the shortcut > Properties > Shortcut tab, check the target and make sure it is just the path to firefox.exe and doesn't have any additional parameters after that.
* Time of day: some malware has been discovered to create a scheduled task that will launch a page in your default browser at a particular time. You can check here: Start button > Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Task Scheduler
* Other: you may have rogue software running continuously on your system. Please try the scanning/cleaning tools listed in this support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]].

• N200 power is suddenly down when playing video files, or just browsing

Hi,
I have Lenovo 3000 N200 (type 0769) purchased 1 year ago.
Recently installed windows 7 beta on it (before I used windows xp sp3) I noticed some problems which I suspect have to do with hardware stuff (battery, power supply, overheating, etc) rather than software.
My notebook just crashes all of sudden powering down as it was on batteries only and they ran out. But I am always pluged in.
My warranty is expired, just wanted to know if you could help me with my problem, or should I just throw this notebook and buy a decent one?

registoni,
Welcome to the forum.
Lot of possible variables.. software perhaps. Does the system behave the same way under Win 7 as it did under XP?
Power - Will the system run on just the battery at all? If it shuts down if you remove the power cord, then probably the battery is defective and I would suggest you replace it. The N100 systems seem to be much more stable when they have a good battery - the N200 could behave in similar fashion. I might also suggest checking the output of the DC adpater at the plug that goes into the notebook. It should be about 20V DC.
When you launch applications, or play a video, the power demand will momentarily spike and either of these could cause the shut down if the available voltage suddenly drops.
Overheat? You didn't mention whether these symptoms occur more often (or always) after the system has been running for a while or immediately upon start up. You could check to ensure the fan is running properly and that warm air is exiting the side vent properly. The heat sink on the output side of the fan can load up with dust and link, especially if the system were often operated on a bed or other fabric surface.
Best regards,
Mark
