When plugged up to charge, Mac book pro shut down and will not boot now
Im using my computer for work...then all of the sudden I get a notification telling me my battery is low so I plug it in. Then a few minutes later, my mac goes black like it had died from a dead battery. I let it charge for a few minutes and come back to turn it back on and I cannot get it to boot. Nearly two hours later, I'm still sitting here. I need some help! Thank you!
Try SMC and NVRAM resets:

I've just purchased a mac book pro. It has crashed and won't boot. The keyboard doesn't function and i have no install disc for the original os. What can i do?

This suggests that your HDD may be corrupt. In order to try and repair it, we must get into the recovery partition or use the original installation disks. Try and start your MBP using COMMAND R.
http://www.apple.com/osx/recovery/
If that works, note the 4 option menu. Select Disk Utility>First Aid and verify and repair the disk.
If COMMAND R fails, try OPTION COMMAND R. If that works, try the same as above with Disk Utility.
If neither works, it suggests that your MBP came with Snow Leopard. You will need replacement disks which can be ordered from Apple customer service. Have the serial number of the MBP handy and there is a charge.

Mac book pro shuts down in middle of booting up
I am using a 15' MBP 2010 OS X Lion. Earlier tonight I was following advice from a cnet article on how to prepare for a clean install to Mavericks. As suggested, I started up in Safe Boot mode and ran repair permissions. After completing that I restarted the machine and now it complete shuts down in the middle of the start up process. At first I get the grey screen, apple logo, turning gear, but then a progress bar appears at the bottom of the screen. After a few minutes the fans start to really kick in and then suddenly everything shuts down.....silence.
I can start up in recovery mode and have (re)selected the start up disk, but the same issue occurs.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Hi mkostiuk,
If your machine is shutting down while booting with a progress bar, you may want to try using Disk Utility from Recovery Mode to see if there are any disk issues. You may find the following article helpful:

My mac mac book pro w retina display will not stay asleep when I close the lid or put it to sleep.
I put the computer in my bag and when I open it again the machine is so hot I can almost not touch it.
I am affraid that the hardware is allready fried.
Also when I press a key to restart after it has been idle for a few minutes it often takes up to a minute to wake back up.
This machine is bran new..
What should I do?Try a SMC reset:

If no success, then use your warranty and bring it in to the nearest Apple repair facility for rectifying this problem.

my MAc Book PRO 13" Retina display will not update. It crashes every time I try to do an update. I have sent in the information on each update but so far nothing back from Apple. Also it does not matter what I am trying to update, the operating system, and application, each caused the same crash. This mac book is less than a month old.
That is the highest you will be able to go with 3g. You need 3gs or 4 to go any higher (multi processors and more memory needed). Version 4.2.1 marks the end of your updates for that device.

My Ipad2 just shuts down and will not turn on. Rebooting does not help. He switched on when I start charging it. In this case, the battery is charged.
Standard troubleshooting steps in the following order:
1. Reset: Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the apple logo, then release. Ignore the slide to power off.
If no change, continue:
2. Restore your phone from a backup, note: if the problem is related to corrupt data, while this will restore a fresh OS, it will also restore the problem.
If no change, continue:
3. Restore as a "new" phone in itunes & re-sync your content. All saved data will be lost.
If no change, make an appointment at an Apple store. -
I was charging and updating my mini ipad last night when it suddenly shut down and will not turn on since then. What do I do to turn it on again?
Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

I started the lastest iPhone 5s software update then my phone just shut down and will not turn back on. I've tried the home button, the button plus the top right button together for 20 sec, plug it in and nothing
Plug your device into the original charger & block in a wall outlet and leave it alone for a couple of hours. Then, while it is still plugged in, restart it by holding down the home button and the power button for 10-15 seconds until you see the Apple, then let go.

My Mac book pro Shuts down unexpectedly
This problem started barely last night, when I was using my Mac book pro when suddenly it shut down. The first thing that came up to my mind was that it was a battery issue, but I have notice that the laptop only shuts down when I type something in the keyboard. Could this be caused by the keyboard, or is a battery issue, or is it something else more serious?
Try resetting your SMC and PRAM.
Resetting the System Management Controller >>
Also, note the exact time the issue happens and check your System logs in your Console application for clues to the cause.

Mac book pro shuts down without warning
So I have the mid 2012 mac book pro 13 inch and recently its been turning off randomly without warning and I tried resetting the pram and smc and it didnt do a thing plus when I click on the battery icon on top menu bar it usually says service or replace battery but now no error comes up and sometimes it will go from about 0 percent back to 100 percent but the strange part about this whole thing is that when the computer shuts off and I turn it back on the battery is still at 100 percent
You should take it in to an authorized service place for testing/service.

My Mac Book Pro started having issues. I tried to relaod the operating system and it worked for a moment. When I tried to do a time machine back up it failed.
Now itr Shuts down at startup attempt. Tried reloading OSX and will not start up after that.Dr.Conga,
did you try to do a Time Machine backup from your MacBook Pro, or a Time Machine restoration to it?
Are you trying to reload your current version of OS X (10.7.4, to judge from your signature), or are you trying to reload the version of Mac OS X that came on the grey installation DVDs that originally came with your MacBook Pro? -
When computer is booting. The blue screen starts to appear before going to my desktop... then it just shuts down. has anyone ever run into a problem like this. i took it to the apple store and they suggested TOP TIER repair which wouldbe almost the same cost as a new mac book and could not guarantee the techs would even attempt to save my data. my other option was to just buy a NEW MAC BOOK and they could possibly fire wire from the hard drive of the old mac book to the new one.
is there an easier and less expensive fix than this.
i bought this mac book pro January 2009.
thanksYou may be able to get it fixed less expensively by a service provider other than Apple.
