When PMON will sense session termination

Hi All,
I don't know what is the correct way to search about my problem, So forgive me if i douplicate my thread with already answered one.
I have a scenario where a tool that opens a JBDC connection to the database and when these sessions are killed from the tool admin i found that the sessions are still active and after a period of time the max session parameter is reached the the database stoped giving more connections.
My question is
When SMON or PMON are not informed directly be session ubnormal termination?
If there is a period of time for checking session termination can this time be changed?
Please help.
Regards;

I think you would find Oracle dead connection detection (DCD) feature useful, easy to setup:
On server side add in SQLNET.ORA:
SQLNET.EXPIRE_TIME= <# of minutes>
# of minutes is the time between successive probe packets sent from
server to the client to check if the connection is still alive.
A time of 10 minutes is probably optimum for most applications.

  • Access Violation when using java in windows terminal session

    Hi,
    we have 2 ms Windows Terminal Servers with Windows 2k3 Enterprise x64 (Intel). I installed Sun JRE version 6 update 5 for windows 64 bit. Everything is working properly when i am using the terminal server as priviledged user (i.e. domain administrator). But as restricted user the browser crashes instantly if I am trying to view a java applet in any browser. Java creates an error log on my desktop which I feel free to post here:

    Does anyone have a clue what is the cause of this error? For the first time I thought that there is a problem with the 64 bit environment, but if this would be the case the applets should not be working as administrator too. As non priviledged user the error occures on ANY java applet so I think there must be a general problem.
    Regards,
    Sebastian

    I decided that even if I found the update, another could easily break it. I instead downloaded and installed the Early Access JRE ( 1.6.0_10-ea ) located at https://jdk6.dev.java.net/6uNea.html. It resolved the problem, and all other applications have tested okay with it. I figured I am at risk either way, so I might as well move forward knowing it will become more stable, than step back and create security holes in the OS.

  • Please tell me the cases when I will use Call transaction/ Batch Session.

    Can you please tell me when I will use Call transaction or  Batch Session in the time of uploading data through BDC.
    Regards,
    Subhasish

    Hi subhasish,
    1. One of the main criteria is
    2. If error handling facility is required, then batch session is the best,
      otherwise if we use call transaction, then error handling code,
      has to be written in the program itself.
    3. Batch session provides lot of facilities to the user.
    regards,
    amit m.

  • Wired dot1X session termination

    Hi all,
    Question about wired dot1X session termination.
    After a client successfully done on the wired dot1x authentication, my authZ rule is follow by the VLAN assignement whereby DHCP server will provision a client IP to the PC.
    But when the client doing these 2 action:
    01. after get connected, disable the IEEE 802.1x option on the PC Ethernet port setting
    02. after get connected, disable, then enable the PC Ethernet port setting  (bouncing)
    I found out these 2 actions will still get the user in authorized state, because it is not link down or port-bounce action. Session still persist at client PC.
    My question :
    Anything i can configure either on the switch or ISE will automatic trigger an action like send an EAPOL-Logoff message, causing the switch port to change to the unauthorized state?
    Thanks
    Component in use:
    client OS: window 7
    PEAP-MsCHAP V2
    authentication mode : iser or computer authetnication
    no check on single sign on
    no check remember credential for connection each time logged on
    no check fallback to unauthorized network access
    ISE 1.1.3 with patch 4
    Switchport configuration
    interface G0/1
    switchporGt mode access
    switchport access vlan 61
    authentication port-control auto
    dot1x pae authenticator
    authentication host-mode multi-auth
    authentication order dot1x
    authentication priority dot1x mab
    no shutdown
    end

    For #2 - The session should terminate and restart if the Ehternet adapter on the PC bounces. Are you saying that even though the user disables/enables the adapter, the session remains active in ISE/NAD?
    For #1 - I am not really sure as I have never played with this before. My guess would be "No" because once ISE sends the "Access Accept" back to the NAD (your switch in this scenario), the NAD won't know if you are disabling 802.1x. The EAPoL conversation already took place so there is no more 802.1x type traffic coming in and out of the NAD/Client on that port.
    I suppose you can set a re-autn and inactivity timer on both the NAD and ISE but keep in mind that it is not recommended for those timers to be set at low values (minimum 1 hour). Otherwise you could overwhelm your ISE servers depending on how large your environment is.
    You will need to add the following commands on the switchport:
    authentication periodic
    authentication timer reauthenticate server
    authentication timer inactivity server
    Then in ISE you will need to set the re-auth and the idle timers under the "Authorization Profile"
    Another thing to keep in mind is that you should control what your users can and cannot do on their workstations via GPO (Group Policy). In normal circumstances a regular user should not have the privileges to disable 802.1x or their Ethernet adapter :)
    Hope this helps!

  • Roll-out failed , session terminated

    Hi all,
    when i'm giving print out from SAP or when i'm opening a new session it's showing roll-out failed , session terminated. Please help..

    Hi ,
                Did you try to reboot the server?, it may help you some times if you are in Windows. Some of the memory will be released once you reboot the server.

  • Append Hint causing ORA-00603: ORACLE server session terminated by fatal er

    Hi All,
    I am facing Service Terminated by Fatal Error when using APPEND hint in my Insert statement.
    We are executing the below commands in Oracle 9ir2.
    This is the scenario which I am facing.
    SQL> insert into VALIDTRANSACTIONLINE select * from TRANSACTIONONLINE;
    1910534 rows created. --works fine
    SQL> rollback;
    Rollback complete.
    SQL> insert /*+ append */ into VALIDTRANSACTIONLINE select * from TRANSACTIONONLINE;
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00603: ORACLE server session terminated by fatal error
    FYI: The table is having LOGGING-NO and the tablespace for this table is having more than 5GB of free space and undotablespace is also around 650 MB and the total size of insertion will be less than 50MB records.
    Has anyone faced this kind of issue.
    Appreciate your response.
    Thanks,
    Madhu K.

    Hi,
    FYI:
    I can see the undotablespace is having 0MB free space.
    it is a very strage issue.
    With Undotablespace Zero, I was able to insert the data having APPEND Hint but no indexes on the table.
    But when I create an Index on the Table and the Index is also in NOLOGGING mode, the Insertion is again failed with FATAL Error.
    Ex: No Index on the table.
    SQL> INSERT +append
    2 INTO credit
    3 SELECT /*+ driving_site(t1) */ * FROM tru_cmp.credit@EPSARCDV_TO_EPSDEV1.DIRECTV.COM t1 WHERE PERIODSEQ =300;
    1999401 rows created.
    CREATE UNIQUE INDEX TRU_CMP.CREDIT_PK_IND ON TRU_CMP.CREDIT
    (CREDITSEQ)
    NOLOGGING
    TABLESPACE TALLYINDEX
    NOPARALLEL
    INSERT +append
    INTO credit
    SELECT /*+ driving_site(t1) */ * FROM tru_cmp.credit@EPSARCDV_TO_EPSDEV1.DIRECTV.COM t1 WHERE PERIODSEQ =300;
    ERROR at line 3:
    ORA-00603: ORACLE server session terminated by fatal error
    Can you let me is this related to the Data File issue, so that I can ask the DBA to look into this as I dont have access to those alert log files.
    Thanks,
    Madhu K.

  • Why weblogic AdminServer process stopped when i close putty session?

    I starting AdminServer in background and when i closed putty session, AdminServer stops. Do i need tune any settings?

    not sure if this is your scenario, but I have observed that if you start either the admin server or a managed server via putty in the background (including if you use nohup), the started process will usually die if we close putty by simply closing the window (i.e. clicking the "x" of the putty window). If you make sure you exit completely from your shell in putty (ctrl-d until the shell no longer responds) and then close the window, the process remains running as expected (for me this is observed behavior for starting WL processes via Putty on RHEL3, RHEL4, and RHEL5.
    If you are not doing so, it is good practice to use "nohup" if you are starting a background task on Linux from putty. nohup disconnects the calling terminal from the application so there are not ties of stdout/stderr to the shell created by your putty session.

    After opening certain websites, pogo, firefox 4.0.1 closes with no error message. When I restore the session I get: Well, this is embarrassing. Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page.
    I have had this problem before and had to reinstall an earlier version of firefox.
    The error console has a long list of errors, many of them end with: does not implement nsIObserver. Is there a way to send the information on the error console to firefox support?
    Redownloading Firefox 4.0 will fix my problem until I either close firefox or turn off my computer. The problem recurs when I open firefox again.

    See:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_crashes
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox+crashes
    It is also possible that there is a problem with the files [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
    Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js
    If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
    Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

  • ERROR MESSAGE sap system manager:work process restarted, session terminated

    Hi,
    i am a beginer in SAP administration, users are getting this error message and i have done all my research and not able to resolve this issue. Here are the details
    SAP Version :ideas 4.7
    Database :Oracle
    OS : windows 2003
    Module user is working on MM
    user working on it is a Super user with all the permissions
    SAP is configure to run under the  European date and decimal format.
    I have never done any database administration on it, it is a new install and has been rarely used.
    User creates a RFQ and when he tries saving it , seems like for the first time after either restarting the macine or restarting the service it might work and at time it might not, this is a very sporadic error and most of the times it crashes out with the message "sap system manager:work process restarted, session terminated" and kicks the user out of the session.
    Below are the details of the error message from ST22 :
    name of the runtime error : system_core_dumped
    below are the details of the error message and its resoltion as suggested by sap help :
    ========
    Runtime Errors         SYSTEM_CORE_DUMPED
           Occurred on     01.02.2008 at 07:52:19
    Process terminated by signal " ".
    What happened?
    The current ABAP program had to be terminated because the
    ABAP processor detected an internal system error.
    The current ABAP program "SAPLCLSC" had to be terminated because the ABAP
    processor discovered an invalid system state.
    What can you do?
                                                                                    Make a note of the actions and input which caused the error.
    To resolve the problem, contact your SAP system administrator.
    You can use transaction ST22 (ABAP Dump Analysis) to view and administer
    termination messages, especially those beyond their normal deletion
    date.
    Error analysis
    An SAP System process was terminated by an operating system signal.
                                                                                    Possible reasons for this are:
    1. Internal SAP System error.
    2. Process was terminated externally (by the system administrator).

    How to correct the error
    The SAP System work directory (e.g. /usr/sap/c11/D00/work ) often
    contains a file called 'core'.
    Save this file under another name.
    If you cannot solve the problem yourself, please send the
    following documents to SAP:
    1. A hard copy print describing the problem.
       To obtain this, select the "Print" function on the current screen.
                                                                                    2. A suitable hardcopy prinout of the system log.
       To obtain this, call the system log with Transaction SM21
       and select the "Print" function to print out the relevant
       part.
    3. If the programs are your own programs or modified SAP programs,
       supply the source code.
       To do this, you can either use the "PRINT" command in the editor or
       print the programs using the report RSINCL00.

    and the process is not starting again.
    Please guide me the solution.
    Thanks
    Singh

    Can you check for more details in SM37 for the cancelled job log .
    Do you have authorization to run 'repeat step ' ?
    or display psadelete variant - identify the infopack/psa tables->  u can delete manually psa requests

    Hello,
    ORA-01194: file 1 needs more recovery to be consistent
    ORA-01110: data file 1: '/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/oradata/db/system01.dbf'The system01.dbf which belongs to the Tablespace SYSTEM is still inconsistent.
    So, I think you'll need to start from a Backup and apply all the Archived Redo logs before the ORA-600 occured.
    More over, try to open a Service Request to My Oracle Support and, send them all the Traces Files and Alert Log so that they can follow all the actions which has occured on this Database. You may need their help.
    Best regards,
    Jean-Valentin

  • APP-PAY-07804: Employee will not be terminated

    hi,
    we are working in oracle applications 11i.
    On the attempt to end the employment of some employees from People Enter and Maintain form I need to enter some data to the form; while there are no manadatory (yellow) fields". If I entered the *LEaving Reason* ,I get the following error,when saving:
    *APP-PAY-07804: Employee will not be terminated*
    *You have not entered an Actual Termination Date so the employee will not be terminated. Choose OK if you want to save the information you have entered.*
    is this a standard functionality from Oracle?
    thank you

    Yes, that's standard Oracle functionality. You MUST enter the employee's Actual Termination Date (their last day of service) to terminate an employee.

  • When I try to launch terminal, i get an error "You are not authorized to run this applicationThe administrator has set your shell to an illegal value."

    When I try to launch terminal, i get an error "You are not authorized to run this applicationThe administrator has set your shell to an illegal value."

    If you'd asked a question in your original post it might have solicited more pertinent responses. As it is, you were stating a fact. No one knew whether you considered that fact a problem, or what you were hoping to gain by doing so.
    The simple addition of 'can anyone help me fix this so I can run Terminal' would have counted for a lot.
    As it is, your solution is likely to require the Terminal, so you're going to need to fix that one way or another. The simplest would be to create a new admin account (System Preferences -> Users & Groups) then log in using that account.
    Then try and launch the terminal. If that works the problem is specific to your original account and can likely be fixed via some command-line tweaking. I'd start with:
    dscl . read /Users/<username>
    (where <username> is the short name of the account having a problem). This will show the records in the directory data for your account, one of which will be UserShell. Chances are that value is invalid, or missing, and can be corrected via:
    sudo dscl . -change /Users/<username> UserShell <currentValue> /bin/bash
    (where <currentValue) is the current setting for UserShell) which will change the user's shell to /bin/bash (the default).
    Of course, you might already know this and already tried, but since you didn't say so in your original post it's worth checking.
