When printing a booklet in CS4, some spreads are mirrored.

Hi all,
I'm trying out CS4, indesign and the lot, in combination with mac OS 10.6.xx and a xerox phaser 7760. I build up a simple booklet, A4, 8 pages, and middle pages consists of a centrefold, with text header centered.
In Indesgin I choose 'print booklet' and choose '2-up saddle stitch'. In print settings I then choose 'two sided printing', pick a different papersize: A3, landscape; so the total amount of paper I'm using is 2 (since I'm using two-sided).
When I hit the print button, the document emerge after a minute. The print itself is fine, however, two of the four spreads are printed up-side-down. I looked it over and over again but I can't seem to find the solution.
Anyone? All tips are most welcome.
Regards,
Harry

Thanks. In printer menu I changed from long edge to short edge and
checked 'flip horizontal' and then it worked perfectly.
I am glad it worked out but I'm amazed how many actions it take to
print out a booklet with three Brands who rely on intuitivity.

You need to reverse the direction of the duplexing, which is handled
in the printer driver. I don't know what terms the 7760 uses, but my
790 calls it long edge or short edge binding. You need to switch to
whichever option is not selected. When setting up duplexing you need
to think in terms of the paper inthe printer, not the pages of the
document.

  • Results are different when printing from CS5 and CS4

    A file that printed fine with Photoshop CS 4 printed very dark when printed with CS5, with no changes made to the settings. Has anyone else had this problem?

    RE: "You don't indicate what Xerox printers you have"
    In my first post I named it, is that the information you need?
    Docucolor 3535 using Splash 3535
    That's interesting, so I have to find a way to turn off the printer's Color Management function? I mailed them, hope they can tell me how to do it easily. They usually just tell me to not use any profiles and so on, but that's the general rule in this area, I'm really tired of hearing it. Everybody seems to think profiles and LAB mode are nuclear science and I should stay away from it.
    Anyway, the test image I'm using is a simple photograph (size A3, 300dpi), so no transparencies at all. I'm placing this image into an equally large ID file and print it from ID, then export it to PDF-X/3 and print it from Acrobat. Hope that helps.

  • When importing numerical in order tracks some tracks are out of sequence

    When I import into iTunes my accompaniment CDs which have multiple tracks in numerical order, some tracks are out of sequence in the "Date Added" sort order.  This has been happening for quite sometimes with different versions and even on different computers.  This has got to be an iTune software glitch. I can click on sort Album and its ok.

    >> If syncing from iPhoto or Aperture on a Mac then they should sync across in the same order as in those programs.<<
    But they don't sync in the same order - All the photos in the album on iPhoto are automatically sorted in date/time order, ascending.
    When I sync the album to the iPad, POOF!, suddenly they're all mixed up in no apparent order.
    It does not make any sense to me at all.

  • When combine multiple PDFs into one, some letters are missing and display wrong letter

    Hi all. I get a problem with combine multiple PDFs into a single PDF document. There are some PDF documents and they are working fine to open each document separately. But after I use Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard to combine them into one, some letters are missing and some display wrong letter (e.g. "forums" display "fo ums"). Our company has Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard, Adobe Acrobat 7 Professional and Standard. But all of them have some problem. Does anyone have idea for that? Please help me! Thanks very much!

    I have a similar situation, but my PDFs look fine in Acrobat Pro 8,Acrobat Reader 8, and Apple preview, but are missing letters in Acrobat Pro 7. I think it stems from the files being combined all having the same font, but each having a unique subset stored in the respective files, but with the same name (and ID?), and when they are combined, the character sets are getting hosed somehow.

  • Centrally positioning a document when printing a booklet (CS4).

    Good morning everyone,
    I'm printing a document using the print booklet feature, 2-sided saddle stitch. The document is then stapled along the center margin.
    The document is being printed onto A3 paper using a Xerox Phaser 7760.
    The document in terms of dimensions is smaller than A3 and does not have to be scaled down - thus printed at 100%.
    When the document is printed the document is not positioned centrally when measuring from crop marks to the edge of the paper on the left measuring 20mm and on the right 18mm.
    Please see image below.
    Because the document is printed two sided when I fold the document the alignments are all wrong, I essentially need the document to be positioned exactly centered with a measurement of 19mm on both the left and the right.
    My print settings are set as follows, using the print booklet feature, i have matched the settings to the printer settings and the problem still persists.
    Please note i have tried printing it with/without the creep setting to 0.5 and it has made no difference. The problem also persists if i match my printers print settings to those of the indesign built in print settings as i was convinced there may be a conflict of interests between the two.
    I hope you can help and look forward to hearing from you,
    All the best,
    Joe.

    I have printed the document numerous times one and two sided and measured them all individually to see if there was any variation as you suggested but the problem is identical on each print out, 20mm on the left and 18mm on the right.
    I'm not entirely sure it's the printer or I would expect to see some variation as you suggested - could it possibly be something is set wrong within the print settings within indesign - that's causing this small but rather difficult to solve problem.
    Obviously as you say i could amend the designs and shift everything 2mm and enlarge the bleeds to allow for the shift but essentially I'm not willing to commit to these alterations until I'm fully convinced that it is not the software causing the issue.
    Thanks again,
    All the best,
    Joe.

  • CHANGE LABEL INFO WHEN PRINTING??  PHOTOSHOP CS4

    How do I remove the @ 100% (RGB/8#) when I print labels on proofs?

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    Miller Monument Company wrote:
    In the Print window under Printing Marks there are options to print Labels and Description.
    It seems that what's being printed as [ ] Labels by Photoshop is the name of the document, which (if you'll notice the tab or window border on the document) includes the filename and all of the information you're describing (e.g., "Image.jpg @ 100% (RGB/8) *").
    There seems to be no setting to affect the content or formatting of that document name, but with Photoshop who knows?  Some rarely seen menu or even a registry tweak might exist.
    Photoshop CS5 works exactly the same way, by the way.
    By the way, the Tooltip help, which might have been of some use here, seems a bit lacking in that dialog.  Some of the entries, including [ ] Labels, don't pop up Tooltips at all.

  • When printing a book to PDF, bookmark definitions are not saved

    I recall seeing another post about this issue and I can't find it now, but none of the workarounds mentioned there worked for me, so here goes:
    I am working on a book migrated from FM 9 to FM 11, and when I print to PDF, I specify the bookmarks I want to display in the Bookmarks tab of the PDF Setup for Selected Files dialog. The PDF prints fine, but when I want to print the book again, FM doesn't remember my settings, forcing me to set the bookmarks from scratch every time. This has proven pretty tedious seeing that I'm working with an old book in which the styles aren't intiutive, so trying to remember all of them every time isn't the best of fun. When I print a single file in the book, the settings are saved properly.
    In the previous post, I remember reading that this was a bug in FM and trying the following suggested workarounds (none of which worked): Switching to structured mode; saving the desired setting in one file in the book, printing that document, and then printing the book (was supposed to result in FM remembering the settings for the entire book); saving the book right after it prints; selecting all files in the book and saving as PDF, as opposed to selecting the book and then File > Save as PDF.
    I'd be glad to know if anyone has any ideas, or if Adobe are planning to post a fix for this issue.

    It is my understanding that FrameMaker uses the setting stored in the first document of the book when creating a PDF from a book. So, open the first file in the book and make a PDF, setting your bookmarks as you want for the whole book. Then create the PDF of the book. Check the settings before you click Print to make sure they are what you want. You may have to make a few changes, but it should remember them the next time.
    I work with FM 9, so this may not be relevant to FM11. I find it necessary to open the PDF settings dialog each time I make a PDF of a book, and click Save/OK/whatever, to make sure the bookmarks are created correctly. The settings are always correct, no changes needed; but I find it necessary to open the dialog and close it to get the bookmarks correctly indented in resulting PDF. It may have been fixed in FM11.

  • After cleaning up "duplicates" in my Library, when I sync any device thereafter some Playlists are missing those songs?

    Missing songs from playlists after sync

    How did you clean up the duplicates? A playlist is an ordered list of references to tracks in iTunes. If you had duplicates in the library you may have added one version of a track to one playlist and the duplicate to a different list. When you remove the duplicate only the first list contains a reference to the song.
    I have a script which would have eliminated duplicates while preserving playlist membership, and merging ratings, play & skip counts etc. More here: Re: When I delete duplicates how do I know which version is the original song and which is the duplicate? If restoring the playlists is important you may be able to restore a previous version of your main iTunes library,itl file that still has the uncorrupted playlists using the techniques in Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash and then run my script to dedupe. If you've updated iTunes regularly however, and don't have some other backup of the .itl, your most recent file is likely to be from last October.

  • When I consolidated my itunes library some files are missing.  How do I fix this?

    I bought an external hard drive the other night and I wanted to transfer all my songs into it.  I followed all the steps but when I go back in to check on the files, some of the files did not get transfered over to my external hard drive.  I followed the steps that Apple posted on their website a few times in case I forgot a step, but I'm still missing a few music folders.  How can I fix this?

    Does iTunes still play the tracks that haven't been consolidated or do they now have broken links? If the links are broken are the tracks still, in fact, in their original locations?

    Should that read "when I copy an artist over to itunes and that particular artist has multiple albums," because if not, I don't understand?
    If I'm right about that, I'm still not really clear at all about what you're doing. Where are you importing these songs and albums from? Is it existing songs files and if so, what format are they in?

  • How to disable some color when printing separations in Ai CS6-CC (JS)

    Hello Everyone!
    Configuration: Win 7 Pro x64, Illustrator CS6x64-CCx64, default printer PDF.
    When printing separations from Illustrator CS4 following script prints all colors except Cyan (as was intended).
    But when printing from CS6-SS disable the color is not possible - all colors are printed without exception.
    var adoc = activeDocument;
    var o = new PrintOptions();
    o.colorSeparationOptions = new PrintColorSeparationOptions();
    o.colorSeparationOptions.colorSeparationMode = PrintColorSeparationMode.HOSTBASEDSEPARATION;
    o.colorSeparationOptions.inkList = adoc.inkList;
    for (var i = 0; i < o.colorSeparationOptions.inkList.length; i++) {
    if (o.colorSeparationOptions.inkList[i].name == 'Process Cyan') {
      o.colorSeparationOptions.inkList[i].inkInfo.printingStatus = InkPrintStatus.DISABLEINK;
    adoc.print(o);
    If you check, you have inkInfo.printingStatus Cyan changed to "InkPrintStatus.DISABLEINK".
    Why it is printed and how to disable?

    I have a problem with the new air runtime 3.2 when printing to pdf. For some reason when printing an movieclip through the pdf printer. It crashes.
    -What i've tried so far.
    Updated the air runtime // dev kit in flash builder. Changed the app xml and recompiled.
    Removed the PDFX4 2008.joboptions (Suggested in some forums)
    Tried to set the transparancy option to none (somewhere in the joboptions file).
    What is odd, it works perfectly with the old air runtime engine 3.1. But after updating to air 3.2 it crashes.
    This was the error message, it probably has something to do with text/embedded fonts (pure graphics seem to wordk). But i'm not sure. The error from the log file :

    I seem to have solved my own problem (will need some further testing but for now it is working). For some reason the display object that has to be printed needs to visible on the stage. So constructing an (sprite/movieclip with classic textfields) in memory and sending it directly as a printjob resolves into a crash. But if you attach it to the display/stage before sending the printjob, the problem seems to be resolved. Maybe this is the same reason why a printed sprite/movieclip gets corrupted after printing.
