When printing a long page, the print function freezes after app 28 pages. I have to go into task manager to end Firefox and restart it.

I am a duplicate bridge player and our club posts detailed game results on our website. When there is a large game the results can run to 30 or more print pages.

Thank you for your detailed question. It sounds like the real issue is pdf files. Are there any antivirus/firewalls that might be blocking this specific file type? or are there any preferences in your control panel that might be blocking this?

I am running Windows 8 with Adobe Reader Ver 11.0.07, I have uninstalled the reader and reinstalled also checked for updates and ask the program to check the installation, which it did with no change I still have the problem ?.

Hi Peter,
Please check the performance by disabling the 'Protected mode' in Reader.
Edit > Preferences > Security (Enhanced) > Enable Protected Mode at startup
Uncheck this option. Click on Ok.
Close and launch Reader and check.

Why do i have to use task manager to end firefox even after i close the website

every time i go to close firefox, i use either the X or file exit.
then i go to the icon to launch the program (firefox) i get a pop up that tells me firefox is still running to maybe restart my computer.
the only way i can override this is by using "task manager" look for the icon and end the process.
then i can reopen the browser

Use "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit) to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar.
In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes", try to exclude the clearing the Cookies

Everytime I try to open a page on firefox it freezes as soon as I try to log in or pull up a page from the web. Everything I click on causes a 'ding' but nothing happens and i have to go to task manager to close firefox.

Just upgraded to Mavericks and my HP6100 printer no longer works, when I try to reload the software it says PowerPC apps no longer supported. Is there a way to use my HP6100 Printer with Mavericks?

Just upgraded my 2009 iMac (3.06 Ghz, core 2 duo $GB 1067 Mhz DDR3) to Mavericks OSX 10.9.5 and my HP6100 printer no longer works, when I try to reload the software it says PowerPC apps no longer supported. Printer says the software was improperly installed. Is there a way to use my HP6100 Printer with Mavericks or do I need to go back to Mountain Lion or Snow Leopard?

It's not clear whether your printer is included in the Apple list - there is an Officejet 6100 and a couple of other types. Go to the page linked to above and use the browser search for 6100.
I'm afraid HP are notorious for not supporting older printers - I had the same problem. Probably they hope you will buy another printer (I did, but it was a Canon). I did look on HP's site and couldn't see a driver - you could give it a try (make sure you have the exactly correct printer name):

I found it would indeed drive the printer, but the colour dithering wasn't very satisfactory and the duplex printing bolt-on wouldn't work. However as Gutenprint is free it's worth trying to see if it's any good for you.

Today, I followed your other advice, and deleted the printer, deleted the /Library/Printer/hp folder, downloaded the entire set of driver, re-installed the printer twice, once with the driver, once with Bonjour.
The Bonjour Printer has the scan option active, but it is doesn't work (refer to above.), it is called M1217nfw
The Apple Driver Printer doesn't show the scan option at all, it is called M1217nf (as on the http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#HP list.) This model number doesn't exist, as far as I can tell.
Still, everything works perfectly in Snow Leopard, for a MF printer that has been manufactured years after Snow Leopard was released.
Why going up in software version means going backwards in compatiblity for brand new product is really the question that puzzles me here.

Even after closing and reopening the program, the print command is greyed out so I cannot select any printer. This also happens with a Brother laser printer. Both printers will produce a test page out side of the Adobe product. Help!

I cannot get any help either. I get the message "There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents." I have reinstalled all drivers, powered off/on all printers (2 of them - a Brother HL - 4040cn and an Epson Stylus Pro 7890 - which all worked fine until this morning). There appears to be no path to a solution. I have read all the forums and tried about 20 different suggestions all to no avail. Reboots, changing cables, reinstalling printers and drivers and Photoshop CS6 - ALL TO NO AVAIL. On a macbook pro retina with 10.10.3. This issue is out there and some get solutions - but not all - that's my crowd...the not all crowd. I have yet to be able to print from CS6 any more. This is a show stopper and my patience is wearing thin. And I'm tired of stupid questions like "is your printer powered on?" give me a break. PROBLEM: Cannot print from Photoshop
After restart error message appears:

• All print commands are greyed out and unavailable — even to call up the printer commands cannot be done.
The printer printed fine until about 2 weeks ago when this error message appeared. Printing continues from Pages, I-photo, preview etc. — only Photoshop fails.
The printer has been turned on and off, as have open documents been closed and open etc.. Preferences reset. Repeatedly I have read through blogs and forums and attempted to contact Adobe — all without results
Epson support struggled to find reason and several solutions were tried and they assume this is an Adobe problem.
Running Mac Powerbook X 10.10.2 / Photoshop CS6 13.0.6.x64
Attempting unsuccessfully to print to Epson 3880

I've never had this problem before. It only affects Photoshop CS6 and CS5 that I have installed. I'm running MAC OS 10.9.5
I have three printers and HP and two Epsons, and I get this dialogue when trying to print from Photoshop CS6 or CS5.
There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents.
Other applications print fine on all three printers. I tried deleting the Photoshop Prefs numerous times without results.
Does anyone have an answer for this?

Printing from PS CC worked fine today. I made no changes to preferences. In between working with 2 projects, the first one printed fine, the second gave me this Error Message.

Now I've checked for updates for my printer, reset my printer, reset PS CC preferences, picked my printer as Default and Last Used, and rebooted. I've followed all the recommended fixes for this issue I could find here and on the internet. I can print fine from any other program. Alas, the error message keeps popping up and I can't print.
