When right mouse click on a file or folder the finder refreshes

Hi everybody!
I am having problems with the finder of my PowerBook G4. I have recently reinstalled Mac OS 10.4.8. I have installed Final Cut Studio and right now I am having problems with the finder. When I right click on a file or folder the finder seems to refresh itself and closes all the windows I have there.
It doesn´t happen all the time but I am getting worried about it. Please, help me.
Thank you in advance.

This is the Finder crashing and relaunching. It's probably caused by a dodgy contextual menu module (CMM). I've noticed people complain that a Stuffit Module is causing this problem. CMM's are stored at HD/Library/Contextual Menu Items or Home/Library/Contextual Menu Items. Try removing them and logging out and back in again, a little trial an error will find the one causing the problem.

  • 3 Right Mouse Clicks and POOF!

    I've had this problem since the day I bought this Mac and it's driving me nuts!
    If I perform a right mouse click on a file or folder in order to use the Get Info command it works fine the first two times I do this. However on the 3rd time I use the right mouse button all open programs minimize, Finder shuts down, all the icons on my desktop disappear for a few seconds including those for hard drives. At first I just thought this was a faulty Mighty Mouse but I've now replaced that mouse with an M$ one and the problem is still there.
    Anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to stop it as it's really irritating!!

    It is a common error. Karn has picked up the confusion between iMac G5 instructions and iMac Intel instructions. It is now very important to know which iMac model the person has, because they are not the same and following the instructions for one can screw things up for the other.
    The iMac G5 has a SMU and these are its instructions for resetting; iMac G5: How to Reset the SMU, Included is this Step 4 instruction; Plug in the power cord while *simultaneously pressing and holding the power button* on the back of the computer.
    The iMac Intel has a SMC and these are its instructions for resetting; Intel-based iMac: How to reset the System Management Controller, Included is this Step 4 instruction; Plug the power cord back in, *making sure the power button is not being pressed* at the time. Then reconnect your keyboard and mouse to the computer.
    I have searched the knowledge base and find no new instructions for the Aluminum iMacs, so I have to assume that the instructions have not changed for the new iMac Intel models.

  • I am using FireFox 4. Where is the "Bookmark All Tabs-" feature. I would like to save my Tabs for a later session. The selection is not on the menu when I right-mouse click or go to the Bookmarks feature of the Menu.

    Missing "Bookmark All Tabs…" feature which was in previous versions of FireFox 3.x. If you right-mouse click on a neutral part of the Browser window, there would be choice of "Bookmark this page" or "Bookmark All Tabs…". I have been unable to find it either in the sub-menu or the BOOKMARK selection from the Menu Bar.

    What do you mean by Tabs sub-menu is it right-clicking on a tab ?
    I know that "ctrl-shift-D" still work.
    I know that a right-click on a tab gives the "Bookmark all Tabs" function.
    But I would like to see it back in the Bookmarks menu. (which is its logical place)
    Because today the choice only disappeared from the menu as it is still reachable through keyboard shortcut or through mouse right-click on a tab
    but tomorrow it will totally disappear and personally I don't want that as this is one of my favorite functionality.
    Tank you for your understanding !

  • Right-mouse click with two fingers!

    It appears that the new 17" MBP has a setting that allows you to right-mouse click by having two fingers on the touch pad and pressing the mouse button.
    Besides being an absolutely fantastic trick, it's the final feature I want for my 15" MBP that makes it complete. (Well, I would have liked a real delete key as well.) So, when can we see this feature added to the 15" MBP?

  • Right Mouse click again

    I post my problem again, cause i haven't found any solution yet. i want my button to react different on a right MouseClick or left MouseClick. The problem is that an ActionListener only reacts on a left left MouseClick. Otherwise you can't add a MouseListener to a JButton. when i add a MouseListener to the Container that contains my Button the MouseListener only reacts if the Cursor is over the container and not over the Button.
    So, what's th solution?

    If I understand maybe this will help a bit.
    Right mouse click is easy in swing use the SwingUtilities class
        public void mousePressed(MouseEvent event) {
                if (SwingUtilities.isRightMouseButton(event)) {
                  // right click stuff goes here
                } else {
                  // left click stuff goes here
          }I think in awt you can use: mouseEvent.getModifiers from Class InputEvent
    but I have never used this.

  • Can a right mouse click be simulated from keyboard ?

    When a cell has focus and I click the right mouse button, I pop up a JPopupMenu. I would like to simulate a right mouse click using some keystroke combination from the keyboard. Is this possible ?

    You can Grab key pressed even then try to create new Mouse right click event from there somethng like that
    MouseEvent= new MouseEvent(Component source, int id, long when, int modifiers, int x, int y, int clickCount, boolean popupTrigger)
    source - the Component that originated the event
    id - the integer that identifies the event
    when - a long int that gives the time the event occurred
    modifiers - the modifier keys down during event (shift, ctrl, alt, meta)
    x - the horizontal x coordinate for the mouse location
    y - the vertical y coordinate for the mouse location
    clickCount - the number of mouse clicks associated with event
    popupTrigger - a boolean, true if this event is a trigger for a popup-menu
    You can pass Id it hing that will decide wheather it is right or left click

  • On right mouse click, there is no "save as" or "copy image" when I want to save a pictureon line. I have to go back to IE to access this option. Is this not available? Many thanks, Joy

    On right mouse click, there is no "save as" or "copy image" when I want to save a picture on line. I have to go back to IE to use this option. Is this not available? Many thanks, Joy
    There are so many occasions on line when I want to save an image that I can't believe I can't do so using Firefox, which I find so good in all other ways. I can Bookmark, save a page or send a link, but not take a simple copy image.

    Hi, Many thanks for replying, it's much appreciated. I started Firefox in safe mode and found I had the full right click menu on a pic on my home page. However, after moving around the web, I've found that the problem still occurs in eBay and it doesn't make any difference in safe mode. still no full menu. After returning to normal mode, I find that this still stands i.e. I do get the full menu on other sites but not in eBay. As I often want to save a pic in Ebay and can do so in IE, I'm baffled as to why this one site is giving problems. As this is where I've mostly been trying to save pics, I didn't realise that it was a "one site" problem and not applicable to everywhere else. If IE didn't work in this respect, I could blame the eBay site, but it does, so that just makes it more puzzling - and very annoying! I have tried accessing Ebay direct, rather than clicking on the toolbar, but this makes no difference. Any further thoughts would be much appreciated. Joy

  • Acrobat tries to reinstall when I right-mouse click - vista 32 bit

    I bought and installed Adobe Master Suite. Now, whenever I right mouse click my start menu (or any icon for that matter), I get a message saying Acrobat needs to be configured, at which point Acrobat begins to reinstall itself. WOW. I must say i have not seen a bug like this since circa Windows 95. Makes me wonder how extensively Adobe tested Acrobat 9 with Vista 32 bit. Yikes. What next ? BSOD's?
    Snarkiness aside,  can anyone tell me how to fix this problem? I only found one instance in Google search, and of course it was one associated with the dreaded experts-exchange.com (we can only pray they will hire a careless sys admin who will accidentally nuke all their servers).
    A few other posts said the only way to fix this issue is to re-install (tried it, doesn't work), or remove some registry keys to remove the Acrobat entry from the right mouse click context menu (which I don't want to do)
    HELP
    Thanks all
    Mark

    I'd recommend uninstalling Acrobat. Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup tool to remove all remnants of Acrobat and then re-install.

  • Right Mouse Click Error Message

    I have captured a software simulation using Captivate 6 which requires the user to advance to the next slide via a right mouse click (RMC). I have the accessiblity features switched off. However from the LMS when I RMC I get an error message refering me to the course .htm file.
    Has anyone else came across this and if do how can I fix it.

    You should ask in Help with using Adobe Muse CC

  • Right mouse click on trackpad: DL HERE

    some clever dude (john the geek) over at osx86 has taken the .kext, the .prefPane and some other geeky stuff and put it all into an installer, so everyone can enjoy the right mouse click on the trackpad!
    http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=2834
    keep it real! use at your own risk...although it works perfect for moi.

    it's pretty much a convention not to put a link directly to the installer (the .bin, the .dmg file) when you post on any forum. the reason is so anyone who clicks the link has the chance to decide whether the file is safe or not, or whether she/he wants to download it or not

  • Problems using right-mouse click functionality in a Captivate added to Articulate?

    Has anyone experienced any problems using the right-mouse click functionality? It's working fine when I preview the project, or view the published Captivate SWF or HTML file, but it's not working when I insert the published Flash file into Articulate and then try it in the published Articulate. I'm using AS2 and Flash Player v10. When I try to right-click it's bringing up the Flash Settings menu you can click on. I've been into my Flash Manager and told it to always allow content from the folder my Articulate is in but that hasn't made any difference. I'm viewing the Articulate on my C drive and I have read that that can cause problems - does anyone have any ideas? If I left-click it recognises it as a click but doesn't recognise it as the correct click action, so just keeps on bringing up my failure caption and won't allow me to progress.
    Thank you!

    Hello,
    The right-click functionality in Captivate is 'in' the JS-file, that is called by the HTML-file that will open the SWF. But if you insert the SWF-file in Presenter (Articulate or Adobe) the right-click functionality will not be there, because you are not using the JS-file. BTW: this was also explained in the thread where you posted this same question before. Please, do not post the same question in 2 different threads

  • Diable "open dialog box" on right mouse click so I can use l mouse to advance to next slide and r mouse click to "go back."  How in PP 2010 for mac????

    I do presentations in PP10.  I am new to macair, and used to Windows.  HOW DO I DISABLE THE "OPEN DIALOG BOX ON RIGHT CLICK"?  I would like to use L mouse to advance slide, and R mouse to go back.  The default is to use R mouse to open dialog box.  I can disable this by unchecking the box in "advanced" on the PC.  How do I do it with the Mac????
    Thanks

    Hi Rod,
    As originally stated in my opening post, the SWF is to be inserted into an Articulate '13 slide (what I called an aggregator originally - I tried not to bring them up since I don't want the chatter about "There's your problem - using Articulate"! ).
    Recall that posting this published file to our LMS did not allow right-mouse click functionality as the flash player menu just gets in the way.
    If I insert the captivate 6 files into Articulate as a Web Object (referencing the entire folder with html, htm and assets, and then posted to our LMS, and it DOES allow RM click operations in both IE and FF (although no sound on the Captivate slide in FF). But this is not what we want to do as this introduces 2 navigation controls (the Captivate one and the Articulate Player).
    Why must anything be posted to a web server for this functionality to work?
    I am able to go into the Captivate 6's published folder, and launch the Captivate demonstration by simply double clicking on the index.html file and this works great in both FF and IE after changing the security settings for flash.
    Again - I can not believe I am the only one out there trying to use the right-mouse click feature to do a software simulation by embedding the Captivate SWF into an Articulate '13 project.

  • Right mouse click in word for mac

    i just bought a g-5 intel core duo and i love it. though i am an experienced mac user this is my first time with the mighty mouse and i miss the right mouse click when i am in word for mac (2004): with my old mouse i could right mouse click on a word and get immediately into the thesaurus/dictionary, whereas with the one-click mighty mouse i have to go to tools, then thesaurus or dictionary, which takes several clicks. is it possible to program the mighty mouse so that i can get with one click to the thesaurus dictionary? thanks in advance. mmvski from amsteram

    Are you trying to do this in Word for Mac or Word for Windows?
    The Mighty Mouse buttons can be programmed on Mac OS X using Apple menu --> System Preferences --> Keyboard & Mouse.
    On Windows go to Start --> Control Panels --> Mouse.
    Hope this helps! bill

  • When links are clicked, they do not fully display the NEW page until the mouse is moved.I know it is a current bug, and appears in no other browsers that I know of.

    It was pointed out that my links do not function correctly on Firefox on a Windows platform. When links are clicked, they do not fully display the NEW page until the mouse is moved! I have now observed it for myself on my fathers PC running Windows XP on Firefox.My PC is on Windows7
    It is the 5 version of Firefox, so I know it is a current bug, and appears in no other browsers that I know of.

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
    In Firefox 4+ you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
    * Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
