When sending attachments in Gmail in FF, my internet connection breaks

When I try to send an attachment of any type in gmail in Firefox as a browser the attempt stalls, fails and then my internet connection breaks. I've googled this and no one else seems to have this issue. It seems local to my desktop and I've reinstalled FF and tried the beta for 4.0 and it still happens without fail.
It doesn't matter what kind of attachment or size, this happens when I try to send attachments in Gmail.

For what it's worth, I've seen this exact problem from Internet Explorer 8:
<br><br>
1. start a new email at the Gmail site in the web browser<br>
2. click "attach a file"<br>
3. select a file in the file dialog box & click OK<br>
4. network connection immediately drops. (I've been pinging Google in the background and the ping gets interrupted exactly when I click OK."<br>
5. Network connection is down until I go through the Windows 7 "repair network connection" procedure. Apparently the network gateway is lost.<br>
When this happened, I tried attaching the same file to an email using a *different* Gmail account, and it worked. <br><br>
I think this is either a problem with the ISP (Earthlink / Timewarner) or Google. I don't think IE or Firefox is causing the problem.

When I enter Yahoo.ca, I lose my internet connection. This happens most of the time. Sometimes immediatly, other times after a few minutes. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks.

All that you had to do was to sign into the old account in order to update those apps. What I mean is that you just needed to sign into that account in the store settings like I described and that should have worked. You didnt need to enter the credit card information again - you justed needed to use the old ID and password.
Anyway, I think the good news is that if everything else is OK with the new account, just download iBooks with the new ID - it's a free app so its not like you have to pay for it again. I'm not sure what the other App is that you are talking about - but if it is the Apple Store App - that is free as well.
Try this anyway, when you try to update iBooks, just use the old password if the old ID still pops up.
Did you try signing into the store settings with your new ID and see what happens with the updates then?

  • Viewing and sending attachments with gmail

I have the gmail app installed and can not view or send attachments. If I use the BB email it works fine.
Anyone know how to get the gmail app to manage attachments or is this not possible with gmail app?
    Thanks

    Hi there!
Nope -- that's one of the functions that is not available via the GMail add-on app. I think it can receive attachments just fine and that you can view (and save, etc.) them. And I think you can forward a message you received that had an attachment and the attachment will go along with it. But you cannot initiate a new message and place an attachment to it. If you like the GMail app, what you can do is create a BIS profile for that account, but configure it to not deliver do your BB...you can then use that to send from your GMail with attachments.

  • File extensions become corrupted when sending attachments in Mail

    Hi,
Since I upgraded to Leopard the file extensions on attachments that I send in Mail are corrupted in transit. The problem is not irremediable: .doc may change to .doc00 or .docis or something like that. The recipient can delete the extra characters when saving or opening the attachment, and the file is intact. But this is a bit of a bore, as I have to send attachments all the time. It doesn't matter whether I send from my iMac G5 or my MacBookPro, and it doesn't matter whether the recipient has a Mac or a PC.
    Any collective wisdom out there?
    Many thanks,
    Anna

Some people have found that not having accented characters or spaces in the file name cures it. The bug has been reported.

  • Attachment file type .vcf not shown when send by android gmail

When thunderbird 31.3.0 receives a .vcf attachment (contacts list made by android phone contacts) send from android gmail, it shows the attachment icon next to the list of new messages, but when opening it disappears. In the message no attachment shown, but it is in the message source.
The menu View->Message Body As->'Original HTML' is set.
When I change this option to 'Plain Text', the attchment is shown and can be saved.
Other files like .pdf work ok though in 'Original HTML'
The messages are received by a POP server (tried pop.online.nl and pop.googlemail.com).

I realize that I should not see headers like that, and none of my other received emails that day had them. The particular email in question had other unwanted characters within its message, suggesting that something gone wrong with its encoding. Here is a small sample (i.e. the '=20'):
Subject: Re: Draft email to Claire re topics /possible agenda items for Wa=
    ndle consultative group mtg
    =20
The email was part of a conversation, and earlier parts of it had far more of these intrusive characters, which were not there when those parts of the conversation were first received. Here is a sample:
I hope you still have your full revised text and can send it to us again.
    Best,Michael.=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0=
    =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0Michael Graubart
I did not, in fact, do View / Message / Raw Source when I read the email. I have now gone back to the email and have now tried View / Message / Raw Source to see what the result would be. What happened was that an additional view of the message opened alongside the first one, with an enormous mass of characters which I shall not reproduce here unless I am told that it would be helpful.
But in neither of the views could I find a trace of the attachment. That is what really worries me, in case it happens again unknown to me.

  • ? about keeping files in original order when sending attachments

Hi there, I have a question about sending attachments. Is it possible for the files/folders to remain in the order that I have originally put them in my documents etc...? When I go to send an attachment it automatically rearranges the folders in alphabetical order. Can anything be done to prevent or over ride this function? BTW: I have the new macbook with leopard.
    Cheers,

  • Computer shuts down when opening attachments from Gmail in Chrome

    Hi everyone,
I've been having an issue when downloading file attachments from Gmail--namely image files, though I haven't tried anything else. My computer keeps shutting down!
I'm running OSX Lion on a Macbook Pro with 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7 and 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3.
The issues have persisted for several weeks now, following my upgrade to Lion. Could you offer any advice?
    Regards,
    Jim

It seems that this is the good old "I think it's 64bit" error. It tries to install 64bit components on your 32bit system. This specifically comes down to some DLLs on your system being missing or the wrong version, possibly even a hardware driver returning some false info (processor controlelr etc.) I'd check Windows Update and verify the SP2 is installed correctly. Also make sure your MSVC 2008 runtime and possibly .NET 1.1 are isntalled correctly. Verify in your device manager that the CPU is detected correctly and Windows isn't running in some sort of compatibility mode. if there came a specific set of drivers with your motehrboard, installing them alone might fix a lot of things, as then you actualyl may also see Windows Update install some components for the first time that may be missing currently...

  • E-mail application crashing when sending attachments

I have configured the default e-mail app on my phone with the settings for my ISP (TWC). This morning, I tried sending a 2MB picture as an attachment to my work e-mail. Immediately after hitting send, the e-mail app crashed. I tried two or three more times, each with the same result. I ended up having to use a different e-mail app to send the message.
When I came home from work, I tried to send the attachment again. Same result. I then tried with progressively smaller attachments, and still got the same result. I tried sending an e-mail to myself with an attachment, but the e-mail app crashed. It is now apparent that regardless of where the message is sent and what size file attachment there is, the e-mail app will crash.
I'd rather not have to remove the e-mail app and set it back up with the server settings again. I've had many Android phones over the years, and have never encountered this issue. I would like to think that this is some new bug that would hopefully be corrected with the Lollipop update....That is if it ever comes to the Motorola Droid Maxx.

    c_brookhar,
Sorry to hear that you are having some troubles with those email attachments. Have you been able to send attachments with another email account from the device? When attempting to send are you using WiFi or cellular data? If you are able to send attachments from another account, it may be best to remove the email account and re-add it back to the device. http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-50017/

periodically my iphone sends me a message saying that it has not been backed up to icloud for x number of weeks.it tells me that when an internet connection is connected to should back-up..i have connected it many times and still get the same message every other week..any help/suggestions would be great..is it an app that i need to get?if it is,i dont have it and a suggestion would be great..thnx

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try restarting the phone and trying again.
If your back up continually fails, you might try turning off back up on your mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup) and then deleting the backup file from iCloud by swiping the backup file on the mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup > manage…) and then turning back up on again.

  • If I leave the laptop alone for 15 minutes, when I come back I have lost my internet connection

I have been using firefox for about two months now without any problems. With in the past two weeks, if I leave the laptop to do something else, when I return to the laptop and go to check my E-Mail etc. I lost my internet connection. I check and says I have an excellent wireless connection but I am forced to re-boot and then I'm back on. "WHY"

What kind of documents? Office? iWork? Text Edit? What version?
What settings do you have in regards to power saver and/or screen saver?
For these kinds of system glitches I always recommend installing and running Onyx 'Automation'. If that does not work you should reinstall the offending software, if possible.

  • TS3899 Can't acces messages. iMessage requests a sign in but when correct apple ID sent, says to check Internet connection which is fine. Have updated OS and reset, but still won't work

Can't access messages. Asks for apple ID and when correctly entered bounces back with check Internet connection and try again. Internet fine, updated to latest OS and reset, but no improvement.

I'm having the same issue.  Just hooked up a Mac Mini and running the internet just fine over wifi, but Facetime isn't working.  I'm going to try resetting my router in the morning.

  • Chinese Characters in Body of the Email when sending attachments.

I have google and exchange accounts connected to mac mail. Whenever I send an attachments through the exchange account via mac mail, the recipient receives the attachment however is filled with Chinese characters in the body of the email that look like this (⁥敧敮慲整⁤祢䔠捸慬浩牥吠浥汰瑡⁥摅瑩牯漠㘰ㄺ㨶㈳䘠楲慤ⱹ㤠䨠湡慵祲㈠㄰‵ⴭാ㰊呓䱙⁅祴数琽硥⽴獣㹳⹐慥捥㌱㙥〭㉢ⵤ㐴㜳㠭㐸ⴴ散㜸挴㌳㌳㑢笠਍䴉剁䥇㩎〠浣〠浣 〠瑰਍ൽ䰊⹉慥捥㌱㙥〭㉢ⵤ㐴㜳㠭㐸ⴴ散㜸) and goes on for 10-15 lines even when there is no content in the email.
The OSX that I am running is Yosemite Version 10.10. Does anyone have a resolution to this problem? Thanks

It looks like bogus chinese created when a message encoded as utf-8 is read as if it were encoded as utf-16.
See if the people who run the exchange server can help, if that is the only account where this happens.  Such systems often botch encodings.  I don't know of anything you could do at your end beyond playing with the Windows Friendly attachment setting in Mail.

  • Cannot Sending attachments with GMail

I have an Ipod Touch 4th gen 32gig. I am able to send and receive e-mails from anyone with this mail program and my gmail account. However, I am not able to send e-mails with attachments. Upon sending a phot to someone, the e-mail went to my gmail Outbox and simply stayed there. In order to send it, I had to go into the outbox, click on edit and then clicked on send. Then it went. Help. I have the latest software installed 4.2.1 on my Ipod Touch and the latest ITunes software if that helps anyone.

    Hi,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Try updating to iOS 4.3.1, which is now the latest software. If the problem persists, try restarting your iPod by holding down the home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears.
    Hope this helps!
