When setting my home page, it does not stay set?

Could not follow troubleshooting instructions without confusion. Simplification may help.

Is your home page set in the Firefox preferences/options General tab? Is the drop down menu set to Show my home page?

    Question
I have lost all of my bookmarks from the drop-down menu. It says it is empty, but never have I deleted them. And when I bookmark a page it does not save it. Please help

    Ok this is bizzare!
Thank you for your response, I went throught each and every step without any luck, even got the recovery programme, and painstakingly tried to sift through all that mumbojumbo to find what i needed. finally found the bookmark bit, but it had been fully overwritten :(, so on reading about previous ff versions, found the sqlite thingys, and they were relatively unscathed(partly written over, but saveable apparently TG), saved them to adiff drive, amongst other possibly good folders. Then looked up how to install them, and it said to close FF, and install to profile folder.
So i tried to close FF, and the original problem from a few days ago, where it asked me if 'i was sure i wanted to close this window as it has X tabs open', popped up again. This is where 'open blank page' selection was set, over 'open previous tabs'. Wanting to save that info on how to sort out these friggin files, I reset the Option to 'open previous tabs', and closed FF. After unsucessfully searching for the profile folder on my laptop, i opened FF intending to search online for where i could find said folder.
AND BANG, surprise surprise, the FF I had just closed with only tabs open about finding out what the heck to do, had disappeared, and instead my original saved tabs were up, and my bookmarks are there..... I am gobsmacked! what the heck just happened there???
I have made 3 back up in different folders now, of those friggin bookmarks. I am weary now tho of shutting it all down.... what if its back to the other pages I had with no bookmarks, tomorrow :(

  • Tabs won't close? Help Procedure: Set Home Page %7C does not help

I have more than 100 open tabs that will not close.
Help procedure Options: Home Page: %7C did not work
    Reinstalled Foxfire did not work.
    Now what?

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js [2] and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

  • Setting the Home page that is not the Login-Screen

I would like users to see and initial portal page/community before they sign-in. This general information community is what they will see BEFORE they log-in. How do I set which one they see? I defined the default sub-community as this community, but when I go to the URL, it still displays the log-in page first.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ray [email protected]

    Hi Ray,
You'll need to adjust some settings in your j_config.xml file if you're using Java for the UI (or in your n_config.xml file if you're using .NET) in order to get this to work. The config files are located in program files\plumtree\ptportal\5.0\settings\config. Here are the settings with the appropriate values filled in -- note that these are different from the defaults.
<Authentication> <!-- Allow the Guest user to access the portal. If guest access is disallowed, the portal will always prompt for login information. --> <AllowGuestAccess value="1"></AllowGuestAccess> <!-- If the guest user does not specify a space, the user will normally go to their default page. If this is 1, the guest user will go to the login page. --> <GuestRedirectToLogin value="0"></GuestRedirectToLogin> </Authentication>
The default subportal must be configured to show the community you want and the guest user must be in the default subportal folder for this to work.
If you make changes to j_config.xml or n_config.xml, you must restart your web application server for the changes to be picked up.
    Hope this helps,

    Hello Madaline,
Please provide us with the URL to the site. Some component may also be lying on top of the menu items (overlapping them), hence making them non-clickable, but that'll need to be confirmed.

  • I have set my home page but the "drag this icon to the home symbol to set your home page" box will NOT go away each time I use Firefox. How can I get rid of it now that I've done what it wanted?

This little box near the top right started showing up recently, and after a few times I realized I did want to change my home page to my most frequently used web page, so I followed the instructions and it works, but that @W#$ popup box continues to show up each and every time I start, every time I log out of the web page, and so on. Since I've fulfilled its requirements, I'd like to get it to STAY GONE and not get in my way.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • A Home Page That Does Not Require A Logon?

I am a new user of Oracle Portal and I am trying to build a portal site for our department. I have an Oracle Portal using Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) SEOne for Windows and have the following question:
Is it possible to create a portal page that a viewer sees immediately when the page renders for the URL without having to log on to the Portal?
Essentially, we would like to create a page whereby a viewer will see an initial home page, then if the viewer is part of our department, they can then choose to log in to our Oracle Portal when necessary.
Let me know if any of you have ideas.

    Hi
In the page properties, access tab, just check the box that make the page public.
    Regards
    A.

  • When clicking on a link firefox opens to my home page but does not go to the link.

  • Updated Firefox, now it crashes when opening certain web pages. Does not work in safe mode either.

I was using Nuance PDF Professional, but have changed it to updated Adobe to try and correct the problem - no luck. Update Flash - still no luck. Tried a couple other fixes from support - still no luck. I can not even use the support site because it crashes when I select a problem to investigate. Using IE and all is fine.

Are there any crash reports send?

  • Print page option will not stay set

On this vi, go to vi Properties page for Printing.
The checkbox at the bottom is the one I want set.  "Auto matically print front panel...."
I check the box.  I save the vi.  The box is no longer checked!!
    Why?
I want to make this happen.  I must make this happen.
This vi is not finished, but is good enough to demonstrate the issue.
    Thanks.

Interesting. This behavior looks like a bug. It's still there in 8.0.1.
As an alternative, you can use the "Auto Logging->Print at Finish" property for the VI, like this:
(Obviously, you want to change the node to "write" and wire in a Boolean constant.)

  • Iphone does not stay connected to wi-fi.

When using apps or when in sleep mode my iphone does not stay connected to my wi-fi. All other items within the house have no issues with staying connected to my wi-fi.

By design, when entering sleep mode, the iPhone will disconnect from WiFi to conserve battery. If you want the WiFi connection to remain persistent, plug your phone into a power source.

  • In the home page why does Firefox say I haven't upgraded when I have. This has been going on for over three weeks, I am now on 9 and still it says I have not upgraded.

In the home page why does Firefox say I haven't upgraded when I have. So I upgrade again and still it says I haven't next time I log on. Today I upgraded to 9, it said congratulations on upgrading, I log off then log back on only to be told yet again I need to upgrade. What is going on?

You may see that message below the Google search box on www.google.com/firefox which is the old Firefox default home page. It appears that page is no longer being maintained. You appear to have Firefox 8.0.1 installed which is the latest version.
'''If you want the Google search page as your home page,''' change your home page to '''''about:home''''' (a new, updated version is now built-in to Firefox).
