When setting up account it wonbt allow me to select card type
When setting up my friends I pad it will not allow me to choose the card type it stays on VISA.

If my phone service is disconnected, can I still use the number to iMessage? Under my setting in iMessages it only allows me to select my linked emails and the telephone number is there but grayed out and i can't seletect it ! It wont activate. I just recentely got AT&T. When I had verizon before and my phone got disconnected it allowed me to still iMessage off my number.
If your phone service is disconnected, it's not your number any more.
If you "just got AT&T", how can it be disconnected? -
I am trying to upload a file to an accounting website for work. My computer will not allow me to select any type of file, they are all greyed out.
Try using a different browser. If it works, then the problem is most likely Safari. If the other browser doesn't work, perhaps it is the web site.

If you are having issues with the verification email, try to send it again. If the email is still not showing up properly, try closing out of the email application and then open it back up to refresh getting the message to see if it will download.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Open iTunes and navigate to the app store. Select a free app to download. A simple way to do this is to scroll down to the top free apps box on the right hand side, hover your mouse over the first item and click on the free button that appears when you hover over it.
A pop up will open asking you to sign in with your Apple ID click "create new account", click continue to create your account. Check the box to accept the store terms and conditions and click continue.
Enter your email address, password, security question, and date of birth, click continue. Now, you will be asked to provide a payment method. Note now that the last option says "none". -

When setting up my Sync account, there was a typographical error in my email address. (Unlike most setup routines, this one did not required double entry of email address. Now I understand why most do.) I discovered the error in trying to set up Sync on my laptop. How do I make the necessary email address correction?
Currently, to change your email address, you will need to go to Sync Preferences on your first computer and choose "Deactivate This Device"; then, choose "Set Up Firefox Sync" and create a new account with your corrected email address.
I apologize that this is not a better process. The Services team is working on an improved process that will allow you to change your email address more easily in the future.

when we try to buy a new app or update our existing apps, my account settings wont allow me to enter ANY of my credit cards. It says to contact apple/itunes/support, but when I do, I don't understand how to navigate it to find an answer. Help!

My original apple id is not an email address .
I bought iCloud memory via that same account no problem.
When setting up iCloud on iPad you cannot have a primary iCloud account unless it has an email address .
Made new account as per instruction ie [email protected] works fine
BUT as I want to utilise the money spent on the additional memory it would be great to use the initial account set up as my primary HOWEVER as far as I have tried the initial apple ID CANNOT be changed. Changing SMTP Server Ports When Setting Up New Accounts
My ISP, COX Communications, blocks port 25 for email accounts not using their SMTP servers. When setting up a mail account how do you change the port? I know how it's done when you have the account set up, but not when you're trying to set up the account.
Note that I can think of a way to 'cheat', but having to 'cheat' doesn't sit well with me. It's a clutzy solution to a problem. Let people change ports during account set up should that prove necessary.HI, all you can do is let Mail go for however long it needs to after making the Account, (half hour here on both send/receive), before it figures out to continue, so you can get to the Advanced Tab!
Or make the Account in say Eudora & Import it. -
I have a new iPad2 16GB+3G. ( Only got this yesterday.) I have set up a wireless router so am able to use WiFi at home. When I attempt to set up a cellular data connection (ATT) I get to the "view account" which asks for my login ID and password, which of course I do not have yet because I haven't set up an account yet. How do I get to a "set up account" screen?
I'm taking that this is a used iPad. Have you removed the microSIM and got one of your own?
Also, have you cleared it out with Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings?
And if that does not work you may need to contact the cell provider. -
Difference between Exchange and IMAP tabs when setting up a mail account
I understand that for iPhone to communicate with Exchange, IMAP access is required:
"Exchange email accounts must be configured for IMAP to work with iPhone" (from the iPhone user guide)
My questions is, what (exactly) is the difference between the IMAP and Exchange tabs when setting up a mail account on the iPhone? I have it working with secure IMAP inbound (port 993) and SMTP outbound (port 25) on my Exchange Server 2003 server; however I would like to know the difference between plain "IMAP" and "Exchange" in the iPhone configuration.
Searching the forums has revealed lots of people asking how to set up IMAP on Exchnage (Microsoft documentation would seem a good place to start), but I don't seem to be able to answer this question.
If anybody knows the answer, I'd be most grateful. One post suggested that there is no difference; however I can't imagine Apple cluttering the interface with an option if there is an existing feature that's identical!Thanks for answering Lawrence. I'm not using Outlook as the computer I sync with is running Mac OS X with Office for Mac 2004, but guess it considers Outlook and Entourage to be the same.
I'm still a little bit confused when you say "takes the settings" as most Outlook clients are not configured for IMAP (MAPI-RPC is the native protocol, although some may use HTTP-RPC) and mine didn't seem to take any settings automatically - I had to set it up manually on the iPhone.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. I understand that when setting up your iCloud account you accidentally misspelled the login info. The iCloud account username is an Apple ID and there is a terrific article that can show you how to edit that Apple ID and correct it. Be sure to make sure you follow the top section, Before you change your Apple ID, before proceeding to the steps to change it.

How did you create it ? There are instructions on this page for creating a new account (the instructions won't work with existing existing account) without giving credt card details : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
e.g. if currently logged into an account then log of it, then find a free app in the store, click on its free 'price', and you should then be able to create a new account during the 'buying' process and get 'none' as an option on the payments screen
