When should SAP Country Versions be activated ?

Should SAP Country Versions be activated within the Global SAP Template prior to the wave roll outs to avoid retrofitting during the waves?
Situation:
We have completed the global SAP template and are ready to roll it out to 50 countries. Wave 1 (of 4) implementation project has just started but does not require any of the complex Country Versions. Those are only needed in waves 2 and 3.
Decision point:
Should all Country Versions (that will eventually be needed) be activated prior to the 1st go-live or only once the specific country will go live?
Concern:
It can be expected that some Country Versions, such as India, Brazil or Japan, that include highly complex functionality, may impact the existing Global Template. For example, certain transactions (e.g. Material Master, Vendor or Customer maintenance, Goods Movements) will require additional data elements once the Country Version has been activated. Retrofitting may therefore be necessary for entities that have gone live in previous waves. Global Template rework (e.g. BPP, training material) may be necessary.

Hello,
first of all we have to clarify the meaning of "activating a country" within a global system.
In SAP ERP, there is no "switch", which can be activated and as a result the country is active and fully implemented.
In contrast, there is the so called country installation program (see SAP note 63805 point 3) to implement SOME template settings -
however these are proposals only and will not serve as a fully activated country version.
Therefore in order to implement a country, customers have to do much more than using the country installation program.
Hence the effort to do this in a proper way is rather high (especially for the complex countries).
In theory you are right - it would be the best for the template approach to have all the countries implemented and as a result to have a
rather stable global template. However this is usually NOT reality in customer projects. In most cases, it does not make sense to invest
into the country implementation several years in advance. As an example, testing of the implementation is an important aspect -
this would be needed twice - as there are legal changes and these have to be implemented in the countries.
Summing it up, it is rather best business practice to adapt the global template (and take the risk of changing functionality for countries
which are already live) while implementing additional countries rather than do everything in one shot.
There might be a few exceptions to this rule for very special requirements:
Example: India and Brazil have requirements which touch the logistics area (in Brazil: (electronic) Nota fiscal). Here it could make sense to consider these requirements in the initial phase of the template design.

  • When should SAP system ignore routing?

If we intend to do a cost estimate (CK11N) for a material; with a procurement key E (in-house production) in MRP Tab 2, which has a valid routing; but no BOM and also no special procurement key maintained in the material master for the material: should system ignore routing during cost estimate?
    Material = M
    Procurement Key = E
    Special Procurement = Blank
    BOM = No valid BOM
    Routing = Yes.
    Should system ignore routing?

    Thanks Suresh for your reply.
But the reality is when I am costing the finished material 'M' which has a valid routing and no BOM and procurement key E; cost estimate does consider routing only and costs it. I myself believe that routing must be ignored and system should consider this material as externally procured even though procurement key is E. Even SAP documentation says so !!

  • Missing Standard country version (and template)

    Hi,
In our system I am about to create a company code for Mexico but before doing so I checked what local customising for Mexico was available in configuration as standard. Unfortunately for whatever reason, the country version settings for Mexico and most of the other countries with standard versions are not in our SAP system.
I have checked client 000 and can see them there but what I am not clear about are the options to get all the configuration associated with the Mexico country version into our development system i.e. whether there is automated tools for this or has to be a manual process given that I am dealing with a standard country version which should already be in our system but isn't.
Before my time we were on version 31i and then migrated to ECC6.0 so perhaps these standard country versions were left out at this point and 31i is no longer available for me to check this, not that it would help anyway with what to do now.
I have seen plenty of SAP notes on this topic, 641257, 63805, 63631, 65934, 162594, 91096, 81892, 48047, 602901, 73606 & 150629 being some of these so please don't refer me to any of these SAP notes or any others that don't specifically deal with what options are available when a standard country version is missing from a SAP system and is required as a reference when implementing in that country.
Are there any defined steps/process that needs to be followed for a situation like this where the required standard country version is not available in our SAP system.
I: will post this message again at a higher level in this forum as I see a lot of views on other threads but very few replies so not sure if I will get the answer from within this Globalisation services but it would appear to have been the correct area to post a thread on this topic.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Country Versions for Russia

    Hi.
My Japanese customer would like to Roll Out Financial Global Template to his Russian subsidiaries.
Does Standard SAP Country version have all Russian financial functions?
Or are there any add-on functionalities or third party products commonly observed in any Russian customers ?
My customer's SAP version is ECC 6.0 Ehp5.
    Thanks
    Regards
    Kimura

    Hi Kimura,
SAP ERP 6.0 supports Russia as a standard country version.
You might have a look at
    https://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700000440252007/
    for detailed information.
SAP does not deliver any additional Add-Ons supporting Russia (that might be different for other CIS states).
As far as I know, there are no Add-Ons delivered by partners, which are installed by many or the majority of Russian customers.
However there might be Add-Ons for specific requirements (e.g. specific industries).
But please note that the implementation of Russia especially  in a global template is a challenging process and I highly recommend to involve local consulting as soon as possible.
    Best regards,

I'm running Firefox 10.0.2 on Mac OS 10.6.8. Keep getting message that I should upgrade to version 11.0, but when I try Firefox says that my current version is up to date

Sometimes the updater gets confused, so in this case, your best option is to go to [http://www.getfirefox.com www.getfirefox.com], and download and install Firefox 11 from there. You can just do it over your current install and non of your personal data will be touched.

  • Until when give SAP support for version 7.30?

    Hello,
Until when give SAP support for version 7.30?
How is the update from SAP GUI 7.30 to 7.40 handle?

    Hello Herr Jürs,
As per the attached note http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/147519
    support ends in July
SAP GUI for Windows Support Deadlines
7.30: Full support up to July 15th, 2015. On July 15th, 2015 the used development environment Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 will transit to Microsoft's "Extended Maintenance" mode. This means that Microsoft will not create any corrections for components which belong to this development environment anymore (unless the issue is security relevant). Therefore no extension of full support for SAP GUI for Windows 7.30 beyond this date is possible.

  • Incorrect Transport Requests : SAP delivery version getting collected

    Hi,
In our development system, when we try to include objects in a transport request, the entries in the transport request are getting saved as the SAP Delivery version rather than the active version.
For example an ODS ( z object, newly created in development environment) entry is being logged as R3TR DODS  XXXX (Obj name) rather than R3TR ODSO XXXX.This is happening for all object types ( Info objects, cubes, workbooks etc).
Also while collecting workbooks in transport request ( using transport connection) we got the following error -Logical transport object 414Q not found in table RSTLOGOPROP. Not sure if the above two issues are interlinked.
    Appreciate your help on this.
    Kind Regards,
    Bansi

    Hi KxD,
I don't expect the loading date to be equal to the delivery date but I expect it to be 2 days before the delivery date since the time specified on the route is 2 days. So I would expect my loading date = delivery date - 2 days (route time)
The way system is acting is loading date  = committed date + 2 days (route time).
FYI.. when you turn on route scheduling the delivery creation date is based off of your route time and not your planned delivery time from the material master
    Thanks,
    Imran

  • When should message protocol be FILE CONTENT CONVERSION

    HI one and all,
What doubt keeps haunting me is when should message protocol be selected FILE CONTENT CONVERSION.
for what format of sender information IS THIS USED ?
    Ur answer is awaited.
    Thanking you,
    Ranjith.

    Ranjith,
Consider the below cases u are sending XML file as
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <ns0:Test_MT xmlns:ns0="urn:test">
       <EmpProfile_Msg>
          <Empno>1001</Empno>
          <EmpName>J</EmpName>
          <DepartmentName>SAP</DepartmentName>
       </EmpProfile_Msg>
    </ns0:Test_MT>
But while writing the output u need the file as
    1000 , J, SAP
Then u have to go for File Content Conversion at the Receiver adapter.
Similarly ,consider the other way around u are sending the file input as
1000 , J, SAP   and u want XML , then u have to do FCC in sender adapter.
    Hope it clears!!!
    Best regards,
    raj.

  • When should a DSO be used?

When should a DSO be used?

    Hi surya,
1.Mainly ODS is used to store detailed level of data.
    2. Getting teh data overwrtten for key fiedls instead of appending.
    3. Delta functionality because of the Change log table.
4.All Datasources in ECC will not support for Delta. In such scenarios will go for DSO before cube, as DSO has Overwrite functionality.
If datasource does not support Delta, we can do full update to DSO and from there we can do Delta Update to Cube. We can maintain change log of each record in DSO,as it has chanege log table.
Here is the detail of Type of DSO in BI,
    DataStore object types:
    Standard DataStore object
Data provided using a data transfer process
    SID values can be generated
Data records with the same key are aggregated during activation
Data is available for reporting after activation
    Write-optimized DataStore object
Data provided using a data transfer process
    SID values cannot be generated
Records with the same key are not aggregated
Data is available for reporting immediately after it is loaded
    DataStore object for direct update
    Data provided using APIs
    SIDs cannot be generated
Records with the same key are not aggregated

  • Error "Please use the Latest SAP GUI version" in service admin

    Hello everyone,
I have successfully installed ITS 6.20 & We are using ECC 6.0, But when I try to logon to the Admin service. I gives an error message saying <b>"Please use the Latest SAP GUI version"</b>.Please help me solve this problem.
    Regards
    Subramanya

    Hi,
several instances of ITS 6.20 have to be mapped either to
    a) different TCP/IP ports or
    b) if the same TCP/IP port should be used they have to have an individual hostname.
These settings have to be defined correctly in ItsRegistryWGATE.xml.
Please have a look at this thread for further information:
Re: How to register agates with the ADMIN instance
You could also search within this forum for the keyword "ItsRegistryWGATE.xml" or do a SAP Notes search to get more information.

  • Impact of Function Modules when used in upgraded versions

    Hello Experts,
I wan to know the Impact of Function Modules when used in upgraded versions. How the function module works irrespective of changes done to it in the latest verisons
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi,
If the function modules is released, it should not have any impact. However if not released, use them with caution as SAP does not support non-released function modules.

    Plz help me for that.
    ur answer is really appreciated.

    Hi
By CIN is there on the client 000 then you need to transport the customizing to the other clients.
This will surely solve your problem.
    Solution
Please follow the steps mentioned below.
For copying customizing entries from Client 000 to the target client
In the target client execute the report program RSAVGL00
    1. To copy all the condition types use tables T685, T685T & T685A
For the entries to be copied please refer page 146 (Appendix D) & 147
(Appendix E) of user manual, apart from the entries mentioned there,
the following condition types have to be copied :
    JEXC, JOCM
    2. To copy the tax procedure TAXINJ use tables T683 & T683U & T683S
    3. To copy the pricing procedures JFACT, JDEPOT, JEXPORT, JSTKTR
    use tables T683 & T683U
    4. create tax codes for the various tax rates
    5. To copy the accounting keys VS1, VS2, VS3, VS5, NAV use table T007B
    6. To copy the Tax Jurisdiction codes IN00, IN01, IN02, 9900, 9999 use
    tables TTXJ & TTXJT
    7. To copy the Billing type JEX use tables TVFK & TVFKT
    8. To copy the Delivery type JF use tables TVLK & TVLKT
Link the Tax procedure TAXINJ to the Country IN
Link the Tax jurisdiction code to the Tax procedure TAXINJ
Set the Pricing procedure determination for Sales and Calculation schema
    for Purchasing
Set the Copy control putting in the data transfer and Copy requirements
    formulae as per Appendix F.
