When starting I get an error: "This operation cannot be completed because of an internal failure. A secure network communication has not been cleaned up correctly. "

Each time I start up Firefox 4.0b6 I am getting the following error message: "This operation cannot be completed because of an internal failure. A secure network communication has not been cleaned up correctly. ". I run Firefox 3.6 as my standard Firefox browser in paralell.

You should only get that alert once after you start the 4.0 beta version.<br />
Be sure to use a separate profile for that 4.0 beta version if you still use the regular 3.6.x version as well.

Launch Firefox beta and get this dialog box: "The operation can not be completed because of an internal failure. A secure network communication has not been cleaned up correctly." Firefox then goes on to seemingly launch ok. Why am I getting this security warning? And what does it mean?

You should only see that message once after having updated.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See [[Basic Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting&#58; Make a new profile]]
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

  • Whille copying error ""The operation cannot be completed because you do ...

Hi there I read a lot of post regarding this problem, I have some files that I copied from a USB drive that I can't copy since I have the error "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items." when I try to copy them to another disk (trying different disks there is no difference)

Right-click on the file and choose *Get Info*. At the bottom of the window you will see *Sharing & Permissions*. Click on the lock and enter you password. If your name is there change the permission to Read & Write. If not, add your name to the list and make sure it's set to Read & Write. You should now have access.

  • I cannot open Lightroom. I keep getting the message: "This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. Choose "switch to" to activate the program and correct the problem.

I have used my task manager to check to see if another version was open and that did not help. I've signed in and out of CC, that didn't help. The only thing that works is shutting down my computer and restarting. That only lasts for awhile and if I leave it open too long LR doesn't respond and I have to start all over. This just began doing this in the last few days, a few days before that I updated. I am pretty new to LR so any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Thank you.
I did the search feature and did locate the .LOCK file (it actually came up with the .LRCAT file) I deleted it but it didn't work. LR will not open and I keep getting the original message I posted, and the only way I can shut down that screen (none of the options will work) is to go into task manager and shut it down.

  • I am trying to update to Firefox 3.6.8. I currently have 2.0.0.14 on my Mac wit OS 10.5.8. It keeps giving me the error "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient priviliges for some of the items". What do i need to do?

I am able to open and use 3.6.8 but it wont over write the 2.0.0.14 version.

    1. Download a new copy of the Firefox program
    2. Firefox 3.6.27: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    3. Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install.
    4. Install the new version that you have downloaded.

  • Problem installing Skype- This operation cannot be completed...

I'm pretty new to all this mac stuff.
I downloaded skype, I extracted the dmg file and the skype icon attached onto the desktop, however when I try to copy this into the applications folder I get the following error:
"The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items."
The weird thing is that i've had skype working but can't find anywhere to open it?
    I've tried repairing permissions.
    Help?

Once a .dmg (disc image) mounts on your Desktop you then need to run the Installer that's on it, or drag the application on it into your /Applications folder.
The icon in the Dock is just an alias (pointer) to the main application and should launch it with a single click.
When installing new applications you need to be logged in with root/owner permissions to write to some folders.
Skype should be sitting in your Applications folder if correctly installed ?

  • The operation cannot be completed because it is in use

i have a macbook with yosemite running.I also have a wdtv live with a 1tb hdd on it.I could transfer files from my mac to the hdd over wifi with no problem till i upgraded to yosemite. It tells me when i transfer a large file the operation cannot be completed because it is in use.Small files can be transferred with no problem at all. When i transfer them through direct usb to the hdd no problem at all. What can be the solution to this problem???

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop

when trying to sync my iphone in itunes i keep getting the error message "itunes cannot sync apps because the apps installed on the iphone could not be determined." can anyone explain what this means?

I received the same error message after I had recently updated iTunes to 10.5.1 and I had wirelessly updated 13 apps.  I had to go into iTunes and select Apps, on the bottom right it said I needed to update 13 apps.  I updated the apps via iTunes and then synced again without an issue.

  • When I try to upgrade to the newer version of Firefox, this is the message I get (I am using OS 10.4.11): The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items.

I have recently dropped Earthink as me dial-up provider. I now am using Virgin Mobile Broadband2GO. I was using Safari. I am now using Yahoo! Mail Plus. It suggested I switch to Firefox. I had an older version of Firefox (2.0.0.6) and started using it. It suggested I needed to upgrade because many of the newer web sites wouldn't work well on this older version. I downloaded the newer version and proceeded with the installation and it would tell me this: '''The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items.''' I have re-downloaded and tried it again two more times. I haven't a clue what that means or what to do about it.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

  • I receive this error message "The operation cannot be completed because the original item for "backup" cannot be found.

I performed a clean install of Lion, then upgraded to Yosemite. Now, i am trying to restore files and programs from my backup in my time capsule but when i connect to the backup folder i receive this error message "The operation cannot be completed because the original item for "backup" cannot be found.
I previously had mavericks installed and was able to backup and restore just fine. I do believe that within the time since i last performed a backup or restore there was an update for the time capsule that i ran using my iPhone. I need a solution to this issue.

Yosemite can take a very long time to index the backup.. and it seems to be impossible in my own testing to get back beyond the latest one.
If you cannot manage a migration.. which I guess is what you are trying to do.. see if you can do a full restore to a USB drive plugged into your computer.
