When syncing, a new window opens every time!

this is most annoying. whenever my shuffle synchs, windows opens a new window and then when it's done it automatically closes the window. but you have to minimize it b/c it opens at the forefront of everything. the window contains nothing. how can i stop this?

• New window opening every time a folder is opened.

Every time I open a new folder, instead of showing the content of that new folder within the same window, another one is opened.
I even went to the preferences and the option "Always open folders in new windows" was not selected.
Relaunching finder didn't help either, and so did restarting my laptop.
Also, the bar that reguarly appears at the bottom of the finder window containing information about disk space and number of files is at the top of the finder window.

• New window opens every time i click a link

Every time I click on a link from a webpage, it opens up a brand new window rather than navigate in the existing window.

Does this affect all sites? If it only affects some sites, could you give examples?
Note: for Google, you can turn this on and off in the search settings. Click the "gear" (Options) icon, then Search settings, then uncheck the box for "Open each selected result in a new browser window".

• Why do three new tabs open every time I press the "home" icon?

Three new tabs open every time I press the home icon. I and two others have looked through all my settings and have contacted Mozilla (no response) and can't figure out why this is happening? Anyone have a clue how to stop this incredibly annoying problem from continuing?

See How to set the home page: Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' symbols.

• Two -annoying- windows open every time I load Photoshop.

Two -annoying- windows open every time I load Photoshop. One with the message "Could not load the Enable Async I/O module because it doesn't work properly with this version of Photohop" and the other "Could not load the FastCore Routines module because it doesn't work properly with this version of Photohop". Hi,
What operating system and version of photoshop are you using?
Did you move/copy any plugins from an earlier version of photoshop into your present version?
Did you point the Photoshop (Edit)>Preferences>Plug-ins>Additional Plugins Folder to an earlier version of photoshop?

• I am having (2) problems, 1. When I open Firefox, why do 6 to 8 multiple windows open? 2. I tried to update Flash, and now that window opens every time I launch Firefox with a drop menu asking me to install.

Problem 1: I launch Firefox and 6 to 8 windows open.
Problem 2: Every since I tried to update Flash this happens. I have done this 12 times, but it still keeps trying to open.

I'm having difficulty visualizing what is wrong but try some basic steps first:
Launch Safari while holding a Shift key - this will start Safari with just your Home page
If you can see Reset Safari from the Safari menu, try that.
In addition to downloading and installing Safari again, try reapplying just the Snow Leopard Combo Update: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399 There is no need to uninstall Safari first.
Lastly try deleting Safari's Preferences file: ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist

• _____'s Computer window open every time I turn my computer on...

Not sure this is the best forum for this question, but here goes...
Every time I turn my MacBook on, the "(name)'s Computer" window is already open and shows the network icon and the macintosh HD icon. Then, after I close my browser, there are sometimes several of these windows open all over my screen. I haven't been able to track a pattern of which web sites cause a new window to open, but this is just confusing. Any idea if it's a bug or a particular setting of my computer? I know others with this computer who don't have the same issue.

Hi,
Have you done things like fix the disk permissions (you can use Disk Utility) or used a program like OnyX to run the maintenance scripts? OnyX is freeware from Titanium Software. Here is a link
http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs/english.html
If you have tried all these, then you may need to try deleting Finder preferences com.apple.finder.plist or even just moving it to the desktop.
Hope this helps
Karn.

• Why do 2 firefox windows open every time a click on an email i outlook 2010?

• Why do new tabs open every time i click on something?

Recently within the past couple of weeks I have noticed that when I click on a link or attempt to go to a new page, a new page is opened asking me to update my browser or some kind of junk. They seem to me like pop-ups. How do i get these to stop?

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.

• I just starting getting 2 windows opened every time I click on a link from email one is the link and the other is home page is there a way to correct this

when I receive a email and I click on a link to open it in my I receive one window with the Google start page and another goes to the link that I clicked on. Is there a way to fix this so it only goes to the link that I click on instead of opening 2 windows

Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• New tab opens every time i click on a link

When I'm searching on...lets say Google and I click on the linked website it opens a new tab in Safari Version 6.0.2. How can I turn that off?
I want it to open that link in the current tab.

That’s not a virus; it’s adware. Click here and follow the instructions, or if desired, run Adware Medic.

• IPAD sync crashes new Dell Laptop every time sync attempted

I have a new Dell latitude 6410 laptop and when trying to sync IPAD to new computer as soon as sync starts running it crashes my laptop to the fatal blue screen.
How uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes, selected to attempt only small file and app sync and still crashes after a few seconds. Apple blames OS, Dell blames Itune-Ipad. I am stuck in the middle very sad and frustrated.

I would uninstall both iTunes and QuickTime and then reinstall them. But reinstall Quicktime first separate from iTunes and than after Quicktime is installed install iTunes.

• Why is a new tab opening every time I click the home button??? If it doesn't stop, I'm gone after meny years.

no, you give ME details.

Is there a new tab in addition to your home page, or does the current page stay the same and the home page opens in a new tab?
If you haven't already, try resetting your home page. This articles describes the various methods: How to set the home page | How to | Firefox Help

• How do I block a popup window that I have allowed to open on Firefox once? I now have the popup blocker set to block all sites, but the popup still opens every time I open Firefox or open (sometimes) a new tab.

How do I block a popup? I allowed this popup to open once. Now I have set the popup blocker to block all sites but this popup still opens every time I open Firefox and sometimes (usually) when I open a new tab.
I Have stopped and restarted Firefox multiple times.
I have rebooted the computer.
I have set the tools/options/content/block pop-up windows/exceptions to block all sites (no exceptions).
I have no other issues with Firefox.
I have Adblock plus (with (1) subscription) installed
I am currently using Firefox version 4.0 on Windows7 Ultimate.

Just to address the last point: check your History menu to see whether you have the Restore Previous Session option and use that if you can. If that is grayed out or doesn't restore everything, check the Recently Closed Windows and Recently Closed Tabs lists for other pages.
The unwanted window may be generated by an add-on. Try disabling ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Any improvement?
Here are some other things to check:
(1) user.js file that changes Firefox startup behavior and overrides your preferences. This article describes how to track that down and delete it if you have one: How to fix preferences that won't save.
(2) Possible hijacked shortcut. Check the "target" of the desktop icon you use to start Firefox to see whether it lists the unwanted page. To do that:
right-click the icon > Properties > Shortcut tab
For 64-bit Windows 7, the Target should be no more and no less than this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
(3) Possible undisclosed bundle items. If you have installed any free software recently, check your Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a program for surprises. If you click the "Installed on" column head to group by date, it is easier to spot bundled junk. Remove everything suspicious or unrecognized.
(4) Supplemental clean up scans. Our support article lists tools other Firefox users have found helpful: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.
Hopefully that cures it.
