When the image file is mounted, the Firefox icon has the Ghostbuster's logo on it

When I double click the .dmg file and desktop window for the mounted disc appears, on the icon of the file to be drug into the Applications folder has your familiar Firefox logo, however, superimposed over your logo is a circle with a slash through it, like the Ghostbuster's thing.
It doesn't look right. I haven't tested the file.

    Hello puma1552,
Are you referring to the *Do Not Disconnect* screen display while your iPod is plugged into and syncing with iTunes? Check out this Apple support document for its meaning and why you are receiving this icon. This icon always appears when you are syncing your iPod with iTunes. It's basically a warning message telling you that the iPod is currently in use and should not be removed.

Sorry, the official version of Firefox 4 requires Mac OS 10.5 or later, and an Intel processor.
You can download an unofficial version that works with 10.4 and PowerPC Macs from http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
or you can download the previous version from http://www.firefox.com/all-older.html

Firefox 4 doesn't run on a PowerPC Mac.
Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.

If you run Firefox in full screen mode then press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle (Mac: command+Shift+F).
If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.
You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press F11.

  • When I try to move my downloaded Firefox icon into my Applications folder I end up with its alias. Why?

I followed directions for getting Firefox free on my MacBook Pro (OS X.5.8). A downloaded Firefox icon appeared on my desktop. But when I try to move it into my Applications folder I get an alias there not the original downloaded icon. What should I do?

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html

  • Image files no longer appear as "icon preview"

Previously I could view all my .png image files in the "icon preview" mode in Finder.
I must have accidently changed some setting where I can no longer view .png files in the "icon preview" mode. I just get the generic .png icon to appear in finder. I have the "show icon preview" item checked in view options, and most other image files appear as icons...just not the .png files.
    Any thoughts? Thanks.

You could have turned "show icon preview" off and set that as a default.
In a folder with images, set to "icon" press command+j and make sure that "show icon preview" is ON.
If it's ON and still no luck, turn it off, close the folder, reopen and try again.
It seems that some images have previews in them (from Photoshop or similar) and will show previews even with the above option set to off. Others need the option to be ON.
Also, what do you see if you select one of the preview-less images and hit the s p a c e ?

  • Firefox icon has a white "no" symbol (circle with diagonal line from top left to bottom right) superimposed over it. Clicking it yields: "The application 'Firefox' cannot be launched" followed by: "-10661"

I’m a novice and a Mac user. Don’t know computer lingo. About a week ago, while working at computer, I received repeated unsolicited messages, presumably from Firefox, to update to Firefox 4.0. I attempted to comply by clicking, but maybe clicked something wrong and now can’t open Firefox. Hope I don’t lose all my bookmarks. Advice welcome.
Possibly unrelated - highlighting the icon then clicking “Get Info” yields “Kind: Application (Intel)”. Only mentioning this because, being an “iMac G5 / PowerMac8,2 / PowerPC G5 (3.0) / Version 10.4.11”, this computer doesn’t have Intel processors.
    Thanks

For Premiere Elements user, I would make note that the presets for burn to disc cannot be customized by the user within the program.
    a. The second thread that you pointed rkclarke36 to does talk about resolving this issue by changing the burn to disc frame rate from
24 fps to 30 fps. But, that was for Premiere Pro, not Premiere Elements. In Premiere Pro, can the user really customize an Adobe burn to disc
    preset?
    For Premiere Elements
If the burn to is to DVD disc for DVD-VIDEO, the user is
confined to two frames rate, 25 interlaced frames per second or 29.97 interlaced frames per second. But, he/she cannot change the frame rate
    within the preset.
If the burn to is to DVD disc for AVCHD DVD, the user again meets different presets, but cannot change the frame rate within the preset. For Premiere Elements 13 burn to AVCHD disc, the presets are
    Premiere Elements 13
    H.264 1440 x 1080i NTSC Dolby
    H.264 1440 x 1080i PAL Dolby
    H.264 1440 x 1080p NTSC Dolby
    H.264 1920 x 1080i NTSC Dolby
    H.264 1920 x 1080i PAL Dolby
    H.264 1920 x 1080p NTSC Dolby
Except for the two 1080p presets with frame rate of 23.976 progressive frames per second, the other presets all have a frame rate of 29.97 interlaced frames per second NTSC or 25 interlaced frames per second.
    b. Mark has not yet offered the details of the Timeline content (video and/or stills) being taken to burn to DVD-VIDEO or AVCHD DVD. So, frame size as per your first mentioned link might be an avenue to pursue. I would include that with all my testing of Premiere Elements 4 to 13, I have not gotten this particular dll error
    with any oversized stills.

  • Pdf files now have a firefox icon

WIN XP. Have checked file association settings and pdf files are directed towards using Adobe reader. Completed uninstall of FFox31 and icons changed back to Adobe. Cleaned computer and carried out clean install. Icons remained as pdf for two restarts and then changed back to FFox icons. Everything works normally but the icons remain as FFox. Have set FFox application options to 'always ask' temporarily.
I have a second WinXP machine that has upgraded to FFox 31 without this problem. Strange!

  • NSImageView - How to get the image file's path?

I'm working on an image uploader application, and am having difficulties getting the info I want from an editable NSImageView. Basically I have an NSImageView object which the user can drag an image file to display a preview and add to the list of images to be uploaded. The image is loaded into the NSImageView just fine, however for my purposes I need access to the actual file path of the image.
The NSImageView target function is activated when an image file is dragged onto the view, however at that point an NSImage is provided and I have yet to figure out how to get access to the file name. Anyone have any suggestions regarding this?

    This may be helpful.

  • Watching image files after being ripped or burned

I am a 1 week new Mac user so please forgive my lack of knowledge.
On my PC, I used to burn projects to image files, then mount the file, and watch it. I finished my first burn of a DVD, and now it says it is a Toast file. How do I mount it or watch it as though it is a real DVD?
I would do this to test out the movie before an actual burn.

    JRALD,
When you burn to an image file in iDVD, you create a "disk image," which is just like an ISO image. In order to view the video, you must mount the disk image (it will show up on your Desktop just like a real disk). To do so, just double-clck the image file, which will have a ".img" suffix.
You will then have to open DVD Player, and use it to open the VIDEO_TS file.
When you have finished, eject the mounted image by dragging it to the trash (the mounted image, not the image file ;-)). If you like what you have burned, and would like to make a "hard copy" of it, drag the image file into Disk Utility's "source list," select the image, then click "Burn." Do this as many times as you like for multiple copies.

  • Image Files in Signatures

I am still confused about image files in the Signature.
When an image file is placed in the signature the sent file will have an MIME file attached in the email thus almost doubling the email size.
When there isn't an image file in the signature, there isn't an MIME file sent and therefore the size of the email stays small.
Why is this? Is there a way to place our logo in the signature without doubling the size of our outgoing emails?
    Just wondering,
    Ken

Any binary file attached to an email will be shown as a MIME attachment as
that is the way we get around the 7-bit limit of SMTP. Any little image
is just plain bigger than a bit of text and that is why you see the
    expansion of the messages.
    > Is there a way to place our logo in the signature without

The only way I know of is with an html signature with a link to your logo
stashed on your website. The downside is that any recipient that doesn't
follow such external links will not see the logo. Recipients will often
do so due to A) bandwidth limitations such as cost/time, B) block malware
that could be hiding behind such links. I do so as a default on both my
smart phone/hand brain as well as on the POP/IMAP accounts I use
    Thunderbird for.
