When to add a new instance of central?

If i have 1500 jobs sent daily by 100 users, how many instances of central should i install?

The best thing to do is to check the log file to see if the jobs are coming in frequently enough that they are backing up. Then determine if the amount of time they are backing up causes an inconvenience to the users. If there is no problem with a couple minute delay then I doubt if you have a need for multiple instances. If a delay is unacceptable, then multiple instances would be worthwhile (assuming the hardware & such support it adequately). In our case the jobs are FTP'd to the collector folder so I can compare the FTP log to Central's log to see what type of delay might be occurring. If you don't have an input log, then you might get an idea of a backlog occurring by seeing why type of time gap (if any) there is from the completion of one job to the beginning of the next. Time gaps of even a second indicates no delay.
We are not up to your volume yet so we are currently getting by with a single instance (our largest site of 150 users averaged a bit more than 250 forms per day in April). The jobs processed at this site average 5-8 seconds in duration so with this volume any delays are minimal. The "server" supporting that volume is a Dell GX260 workstation. We expect the volume to increase near to yours in a few months so we have real multi-processor servers on order. We will have some automated "batch" processes going at that time and our users won't tolerate much in the way of delays so we intend to install these new servers with multiple instances.
We have a "real" server in HQ that is used for some of the same job mix plus it does all the SQL FormsGen database updating for our entire organization. It averaged over 1600 jobs a day during April with these jobs taking a bit less time than those on the workstation/servers. We don't see much delay on this server but since our job count is expected to more than triple by this summer it will also be using multiple instances.
Keep in mind that multiple instances will use up more CPU cycles and memory. If the hardware doesn't support this requirement adequately (i.e. CPU cycles just aren't there or memory is short so it starts doing a bunch of paging) there will be a point of decreasing return. With our current equipment I believe we could adequately do 2 instances but a third would probably start creating a negative impact on overall job duration.

Just for those who are interested, this is what cleared the "bookmark menu" trbl I had.
Open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Bookmarks, then reselect it.
Quit and relaunch Safari. Try a bookmark again.

You're using Exchange Active Sync to synchronize contacts and calendars with your company Exchange Server. If the default calendar/address books are set to the Exchange account, it will sync automatically. This is normal.
Go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars to change the default address book and calendars to a something else, iCloud or something synced from your home computer instead.

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely. Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

To reiterate Larry's question are you trying to copy
your iPhoto Library package in it's entirety to the flash drive
or
just the photos that are in the library?
Each requires a different process.
If it't the former reformat the flash drive to OS X Extended (journaled) and drag the iPhoto Library package from your Pictures folder to the flash drive.
If it's the latter export them to a folder on the Desktop first viaFile ➙ Export ➙ File Export and Kind = Original and drag the folder onto the flash drive.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

Firefox Sync does not update automatically when I add a new bookmark.

I use one desktop and one notebook at the same time. Firefox Sync does not update bookmarks between my desktop and notebook when I add a new bookmark from one device or the other. Your imported bookmarks from IE should all be in one folder named "From Internet Explorer". The imported Bookmarks are kept separate for easier identification by the user. You can move them to other folders outside of that folder if you wish; you can also delete any duplicates that you may have placed into Firefox Bookmarks/folders before the import.

I suggest you install the "Add Bookmark to Here2" extension, then you can expand the the list but you will not see the bookmark itself in the list if that is what you wanted. At the top you have three major folders you can select one of them and scroll up and down. Below that you have your most recently used folders and you can select one of them instead and scroll up and down. You can see the folder the bookmark is in -- they get added to the bottom
If you really want to see the bookmark within the folder the same extension allows you to bring the bookmark to the folder from say the bookmarks sidebar that is why it is named as such. I use it but mainly i use the dialog.

ITunes freezes when I add a new mp4 video

My iTunes has started to freeze when I add a new MP4 video file to play through Apple TV 3.
This has only started today and is very annoying. All the latest updates are installed and I use an iMac 27" 2.7 Ghz core i5, 4gb ram and OS X 10.7.5, Lion
Any ideas

When I add a new bookmark many of the old ones just disappear!
I have recovered my archived bookmarks from Time Machine but the minute I go to add a new bookmark, many disappear again!

Quit Safari. Disable Safari synchronization in iCloud, if applicable.
Hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar. Copy the following line into the text box that opens, then press return:
~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist
Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the Finder window open. Relaunch Safari. Select File ▹ Import Bookmarks from the Safari menu bar. Import from the bookmarks file you moved to the Desktop. Test. If Safari now performs normally, you can delete the old bookmarks file. Otherwise, quit Safari again and put back the file you moved, replacing the newer one with the same name. Close the Finder window and post again.

When I add a song to an existing playlist on iTunes, will it sync to my iPod once connected?
I'd rather not have to remember each specific playlist I add songs too to sync it to my iPod.
I do have automatic sync set up, starting today because I got tired of constantly manually adding music.
ALSO, if I deleted songs in iTunes, will it delete them in my iPod as well once connected to my computer?

Checking for a value in a field within a subform before allowing a user to add a new Instance

Form setup:
Page name = Page1
1st Subform within Page1 = Info (set to flowed)
Objects within Info subform: Name (textfield) and Email (textfield)
I also have a 2nd subform within Page 1 which contains an add instance button
What I'm trying to do:
1. The user needs to enter their Name and Email address then click "Add Instance button" to create a new instance of the Info subform : _Info.addInstance(1);
2. If the user fails to enter an email address, I want there to be a mesage box that infos the user that an email address is required before he/she can create a new instance. Note: It would also be nice if the cursor is Set to foucs on the email field within that particular subform instance.
3. As long as the user tries to continue adding an instance, he/she will be denied if they do not enter an email in that instance
4. If the user includes an email address in that instance, then the script will create add a new isntance
5. The process should continue in this manner for each each click of the add instance button
I presume there nees to be a loop and perhaps a somExpression scipt, but I'm not sure.
Here's what i have so far (see below)....The script works for the first instance on the page, but it doesn't prevent new instances from being created when the email field in that "current instance" is empty. I want it to prevent the user from adding new instances if the email field is balnk in that "current instance". So, I guess I'm not sure how ot test a field in the current instance in a repeating subform.

I think you can acheive what you want just by adding "lastRow.presence = "hidden";" when you do the addInstance, so it now looks like;

So whenever you add a row the previous one is hidden?
For your second issue, if you could have another button on your form, you could ask the user for a password and if they enter it correctly then show for the Info subforms, so;

You would want to password protect your template as well (in Form ... Form Properties ... PDF Security) so people couldn't just open the form and look at the password.
