When to buy a new iPhone?

I have had an iPhone since November of 2007, and it's starting to show its age... The music skips sometimes when I'm using the phone in my car, Safari unexpectedly quits on me on occasion, and sometimes the phone does things that are just plain weird, like the keyboard popping up on the menu screen (not the search screen). Anyway, I want to get another iPhone to replace it, but I am unsure of whether or not I should get the 3Gs or wait for a new version to come out. I can't find any information on when Apple is planning to release a new version of the phone, and I'd be pretty mad if I bought a new phone and then see the company announce something 10x better a few weeks later.
I've read that the 3Gs is such an immense improvement over the original version that I would undoubtedly be satisfied, but I figured that if Apple is coming out with a whole new version in 2010 I might as well wait for it. Any thoughts?

We're all users, just like you, so no one here knows what Apple's plans are. However, if history is any indication, we'll most likely see a new iphone around June of this year.

My recommendation is to backup as close to the time of getting the new phone, because anything done between the backup and restoring the new phone from backup will be lost. I lost some data from a game that I played between the two, yea, yea, I know, big whoop. But served as a reminder to back up.

Tired Of Re-Doing 40 Home Screen Icons When I Buy A New iPhone (or Touch)

I love my 3G and just bought a new 32gb iPod Touch. I plan on buying my wife and kids 3G's too.
Question:
I've got 40+ shorcuts to webapps (not app store apps mind you)and Safari URL's on my home screen, each with its own custom icon.
Is there a way that I can get my new iTouch and the 3 new 3G's I'm going to buy to sync to something (a backup?) so that I don't have to re-enter the URL's and all those icons again?
I almost tried the 'backup' option on first sync, but decided against it for fear that iTunes would only allow one device to be sync'd to a backup and thus cause a problem when I re-sync'd the original device.
Help.
Is there a way to save time on all the URL/icon re-do's?

If you want all iPhone settings for your iPhone including web apps and web clips to be the same on a new iPhone or iPod Touch, the only way to do so is the restore option from your iPhone's backup, which should not affect anything else with the original device.
Each iPhone and/or iPod or iPod Touch can have its one sync preferences with the same iTunes library and iTunes account, and each can receive the same backup without having any affect on the original device.

Recovery for deleted photos when i buy a new iphone

You should have imported the photos from the Camera Roll with your computer before you selected to transfer the backup for your previous iPhone to your new iPhone.
The photos that were in the Camera Roll on your new iPhone are gone and not recoverable. Not possible to restore the photos since you chose not to import the photos first along with selecting to transfer the backup for your previous iPhone to your new iPhone which replaced the contents in the Camera Roll with the contents that were in the Camera Roll with your previous iPhone.
For future reference, always import these photos with your computer ASAP as with any other digital camera.

What have you tried to fix it ? If you haven't already done so then see if any of the following fix it :
- log out of your account on your phone by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then log back in
- close the iTunes store app via the multitasking bar and see if it works when you re-open it : double-click the home button to open the taskbar, and then swipe or drag the iTunes store app's screen from there up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
- soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

Doesn't matter much, since you'll be prompted to update when you connect to iTunes - the latest is 2.2.1. Probably most phone have 2.2 at this point.

You can't buy a new iPhone in the US without a plan. Even if you could buy one, it would not work (even as an iPod) until activated with a cell phone provider. You would have to buy a used iPhone that had been activated. Be sure to get a US model (or one for your country if you aren't in the US). Check the part numbers in the right column of

An officially unlocked one from one of the countries that sell them would also be OK, but any repair would have to be done in its original country. It would have to have been activated in some country, also.

I feel as though I am forced into repairing the iphone before I can backup the information (photos, videos, contacts). If the apple ID on the device is the same as the one on my iMac I do not understand why I have to unlock the iphone by typing in the 4 digit passcode. This is a little ******** as having the screen break seems to be the usual prpblem with the iphone, I want to be able to backup my files when I feel the obvious need to do so (eg. when it breaks)! Okay folkes, you were right and I was wrong.. I admit it. But I was pretty mad though when I tryed to backup the last few contacts I needed for work and couldn't do so. Worst things are when something gets broken (by me or whatever) when there is an emergency. I needed the contacts off of that phone real fast and couldn't do it, thats what got me real mad. And btw I am a Russian living in Moscow and instead of having an official Apple store we have shopes called ReStore who resell apple devices with ridiculous prices, same thing with the repairs. My itunes sync stopped working when I got the new iphone. How to fix it?

My Iphone 4 worked great. It synced with my itunes perfectly. I;d buy a song on my computer and moments later it would also show up on my iphone. I thought I configured all the boxes correctly when I got the new iphone but now the wifi sync feature seems to have stopped working. I went back and checked and it appears all the right boxes are checked but still no sync. When I go to wifi sync in settings it says it has to be plugged in, locked and the home comuter available. I tried that and it still wont wifi sync. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Help please.

Try restarting. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.

Why can't I buy the new Iphone?

Is anyone as ****** off as me that I cannot buy the new Iphone without paying $499? I purchased the first phone for $700, the second phone for $500 all on the day they came out. Now Apple will let anyone who didn't buy it before get it for $299 but I gotta pay $200 extra or wait till December. Way to **** off your core group. I plan on buying a new phone every year but if I have to wait till December I might as well wait till next June and get a phone that has 64Gigs of memory. Hello, I'm going to buy the new iPhone 3G tomorrow. I was reading online the requirements and things you must have when you go into the Apple Retail Store to buy the phone. It said you must be the primary AT&T account user.
Somebody else in my family is the owner, and I'm a user. I asked an Apple customer service person, and she said as long as I can be an "Authorized" user, that other family member will not have to be with me when I buy the new phone.
